VW Passat 2.0 TDI - VW Passat Injectors & warranty repairs- who should 23 May 2011 (Forum)
VW dealer had to break window to gain entry to then do diagnostic - the repair to the locking system was covered by warranty but not the window damage or diagnostic cost, even though fault was covered by warranty. Cost to me £140. I think VW & dealer should offer goodwill on loom cost in light of my experiences, but thus far fallen on deaf ears. -

Focus - Noisy Steering 4 Jul 2007 (Forum)
I have a 2005 Focus 1.6 petrol LX. It has covered 27000 and shortly after a recent 25000 service, I noticed a grinding noise from the steering when turning at very low speeds such has entering and exiting my drive. My local Ford dealer has inspected the car and informed that the top shock absorber rubber mountings need changing but the track rod ends are OK (I did mentioned the TSB I've read about on this forum regarding these) Apparently the warranty does not cover suspension parts after 1 year but Ford will contribute 70% leaving me with a £66 bill. -
Volvo 850 T5 2 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Just been offered a 1997 850 T5 estate at a good price, the car has covered just over 100,000 miles with very little history, the car looks clean no major dents, the paint work has faded in places but that should be easy enough to polish out, one problem is the lambda sensor light stays on ive posted this on the technical matters page, the car belongs to a friend who has owned the car for 6mths with no problems. -
Top Gear Magazine - What on Earth 7 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Cancelled Diesel Car as well recently. Ivor Carroll gone and a load of kids and feminists writing tosh. Definitely a gap in the market for a car magazine that covers Peruda Nippa (?) upto BMW 5 Series and no higher. -

I have been offered named component warranty for £222 (£100 excess) 12 months or all component cover for £277. The car is a 2015 with 34k miles and the DSG 'box. What do you reckon? I don't think the price is bad. -

Pedestrians not on the pavement 26 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Since this recent cold spell I've noticed an increasing number of pedestrians choosing to walk in the road rather than on the snow covered pavement, I've seen several cars having to swerve to avoid someone unexpectedly deciding to hop into the road because they thought it was a safer route. I wonder what is potentially more dangerous, slipping on the icy pavement or being clipped by a vehicle? -

Came accross a group of motorcyclists (3, 2 "under training") yesterday - all three displaying L plates including the one with the "instructor" tabard. Honda Accord with yellow label of a large Scottish care dealer on the outside of the screen COVERING the high level brake light! Wonder how often they wash thier car? -

I'm considering buying the above car first registered July 2006. However, it has no maintenance shown on the service records other than an oil & filter change last month. It has covered 10,000 miles. Price asked is £5300. Should I be wary? -

Passat - scuttle plenum chamber creaking 19 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Just wondered where this is on my VW because I've always assumed that the creaking from my car is my dash as per the extract from the HJ Passat review below. 'Creaking dash' might actually be the underbonnet plastic cover over the scuttle plenum chamber creaking. Cured by silicone grease on the tough points. -
Tesco Parking Enforcement 24 Dec 2006 (Forum)
My local Tesco (Oakham, Rutland) has installed what appear to be ANPR cameras covering the one road into and out of the car park. I suppose that this will automate parking enforcement but will the Penalty Charge income exceed the cost of the system? The parking is certainly popular with people who want to shop at Tesco and walk into the town centre for other shopping. -

Chrome Tailpipe 8 Apr 2005 (Forum)
The end of my exhaust looks a bit dirty (I'm refering to the car and not me!!!) I'm looking on ebay and was thinking of getting one of those chrome tailpipe covers. Have anyone bought one of those? Could anyone recommend a place where I should get it? Can they do any damage to the exhaust? -

The Stig 8 Jun 2003 (Forum)

Car damaged in car park 21 Mar 2015 (Forum)
Daughter returned to her car ro find extensive damage to the front end (over £1K). Embedded in her car was what looks like a towing eye hole, cover plate. The numbers on it seem to indicate it's from a Daihatsu Sirion, but as they're as rare as hen's teeth I think it's unlikely.
