• BMW 1 Series Convertible - Crack type noises 1 Mar 2011 (Forum)
  Does anyone have any advice about loud crack type noises that seem to come from the dashboard or windscreen struts of the convertible we have just bought? It is a BMW series 1 car and the noises are quite disconcerting when driving over a bump or going round doundabouts? It is mainly in the first 10 miles of driving a journey and the car is only about 10 months old.

  Hello, I went to test drive a 2005 BMW 1 Series yesterday and noticed at low speeds when shifting down (i.e. to 2nd gear to take a corner) I could feel some vibration in my foot through the clutch pedal when it was fully depressed. No obvious isues changing or engaging any gears.

  I found an old container of Castrol SLX Long Life II HTHS 3.0 SAE 0W-30 in my garage - can someone kindly confirm if this is a fully synthetic oil? Although I bought it for my Audi A4 3.0 (2004), would it be suitable for my 2001 BMW 740i Many thanks in advance

  Hi, I was planning to pick up a second hand BMW 320i yesterday (2006 plate, done 52K miles) but on starting and revving the engine felt a distinct vibration.The same thing happend on shutting off the ignition.As its a petrol engine I am a bit worried about the state of the engine as petrol engines generally dont vibrate so much.Could it be because of some fault,worn part or a bad engine?

  Hi, I have been thinking of buying an old BMW 3 series diesel but I have been getting put off the idea because I have been reading about Dual Mass Flywheel failures in diesels. Does anyone know do 3 series diesel suffer from this? Does any manufacturer of diesels not suffer from this?

  Now when I start my 1series BMW and the lights are set not to be on, the dipps do come on, then when I switch the setting to side lights the dipped lights still stay on and both my front and back fog lights continualy flash on and off, and then when I turn the switch to the dipped lights the lights go off.

  Times are lean and I am going to have to part with my BMW to replace it with a Kia C'eed. It is an 07 320D SE, Auto, 24K, good nick bar a few stone-chips, recent new tyres and service. I want to sell rather than do p/x and cash back so: How/Where will I achieve the best price when selling within 2-3 weeks?

  Hiii, I need some advice. I?ve been told I need another fuel pump for my BMW 316 I SE AUTO 1994. I went to the garage and they gave me a quote of how much it would cost for their services - it was in triple figures! Can anyone suggest where I can get a fuel pump a bit cheaper?

  Got a bmw 318 ci convertible 2wks ago, temperature gauge sometimes goes to red, then straight back down after few mins, one time gauge went to red first thing in morning when car had been parked all night, then went straight back down.

  hi i have a bmw 320d and the brake warning light is on even though i have had all the pads replaced with new sensors where required, my local garage tells me that they cannot get there diagnostic machine to communicate with my car. please can anyone help many thanks jim {volume in header turned down}

  Has anyone replaced the standard door and rear deck speakers in a BMW e90 saloon? If so, could you please advise if you found exact fit, plug compatible, drop in replacements and what make these were? I am very disappointed with the standard audio in my 325d but finding suitable replacement speakers is is subject to the usual veils of obfuscation and proprietary restrictive tricks.

  hi all on my bmw e46 w reg the amber oil light comes on just after start up stays on for about 10 secs then goes out i have been told it might be the oil sensor but to give it a oil and filter change first does anybody know what the best grade of oil will be to use cheers

  A family member recently filled up their X5 diesel with unleaded and drove it several miles before realising their mistake. The car was towed to the local BMW dealer and the fuel system replaced. Guess how much the final bill was? I was surprised to hear that the insurance company coughed for it as it was considered an acccident - just as well!

  Could the assembled company , or even HJ himself please comment on the wisdom of buying a BMW Z3? Say 5 years old; 1.9 engine and 50,000 miles; FSH. Price £8000. I get a feeling that over a couple of years and another 25000 miles it could still depreciate quite heavily as well as potential wear and tear running costs.

  I am currently rebuilding the top end of an M30 engine out of a BMW 535. I am currently trying to get the inlet manifold off however to do that I need to disconnect the injector wiring. Any ideas how I do this? There is a plastic case on top of the manifold which feeds the electrics into the injectors.

  My BMW (e36 engine)is very difficult to start. This is an intermittant problem. I have tried changing the plugs and coil pack but to no avail. The tank has plenty of fuel and the battery is well charged. Sometimes it will start on the first turn but often it may take five or ten minutes of constant turning on and off before it fires up.

  Having a spare insurance policy and the need for something to tow a trailer I decided to look for a large state for occasional use. So i'm off on Monday to look at a supposedly immaculate 1992 BMW 525i Touring, for sale at £1000. I haven't the faintest idea of what to look for and wondered if anyone could give me a few hints. The car will only be used occasionally so mpg isn't the top priority!
• BMW E46 - Missing locking Nut! 22 Dec 2005 (Forum)
  Having discovered I have slow puncture on my BMW 323Ci (2000), also discovered the locking nut is missing from the tool kit! And yes I've searched the whole car inside out. Not sure if each locking nut is specific to model/type? A friend of mine has similar, but slightly newer which could potentially try.
