Has anyone replaced the standard door and rear deck speakers in a BMW e90 saloon? If so, could you please advise if you found exact fit, plug compatible, drop in replacements and what make these were?
I am very disappointed with the standard audio in my 325d but finding suitable replacement speakers is is subject to the usual veils of obfuscation and proprietary restrictive tricks.

I am in the frozen north of Scotland!
I have only done about 50 miles in the car in two weeks as I continued to use the Audi until Friday when it was sold. So too early to tell...

Just that I know of a particularly good car HiFi shop in North Wales.

Location doesn't need to matter if they can ship by mail and the speakers are a) worthwhile improvements; b) exact fit replacements.
I suspect that the manufacturer has introduced some proprietary tricks to prevent direct replacements. None of the ICE outlets I have spoken to has beaten a path to my door after my initial enquiry.

I can't say anything about their mail order capabilities, they've seen to quite a few of my cars over the last 15 yrs when I was in N Wales on holiday. They were recommended to me by a friend up there. Never let me down in the advice or quality of fitting.

Answer came there none! This has been the standard response I've received every time I've asked this question. Even of "specialists".

I got a preliminary answer back from BMW last night, asking me for more details of the car. I'll wait and see if I get a detailed response from them. Thanks for the interest.
