  • NIP? 23 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Last Saturday I was in the 50mph section just before the pay booths on the Servern bridge and my wife noticed a seped camera van on a bridge. Of course it was too late and like everyone around me I was doing over 50mph. I might be lucky but anyone any idea how long NIPgenerally 's take. I know about the 14 days for issue but just wondering, hoping .....
  • Speeding Fine notification 10 Aug 2010 (Forum)
My son was caught by a mobile camera over 4 weeks ago on the 18th July, and although he was sent a photograph to verify his identity within 4 days, he has still not received notification of any fine. Could anybody with knowledge of this situation please advise if there is a finite time in which fines should be notified?
  • Motorway Cops 2 Sep 2009 (Forum)
New episode on BBC at 9pm tonight. I haven't seen it, but know some of the content. I'm reliably informed that I've avoided the camera (threatening the cameraman probably helped :) ). There's one incident I'm particularly interested in and will be watching with interest on what the BBC show and how accurate their commentary is. Still don't agree with them filming us, but that's way above my pay grade.

Hardly a new concept is it! Hopefully more forces will adopt this approach and drop the poxy speed cameras!
  • speeding fines to be reimbursed 13 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Just seen on the local news that Hampshire have made a horlicks of positioning road signs, speed limits/camera warning signs etc. on the south coast. Looks like they will be paying megabucks back to motorists going back a few years and points will be put back on licences! there is even talk of compensation.
  • Big brother at the pumps 19 Jul 2007 (Forum)
yesterday whilst filling up at my local Tesco petrol station there was a note on the pump courtesy of the Leicestershire police stating that all the details of the car i was putting petrol in were being monitored there and then, i couldn't see any cameras or devises , i wonder if its just a cheap way to keep the scallies away or if its a serious attempt at cutting car crime?
  • annoying design details. 27 Jun 2006 (Forum)
The top of the steering wheel obscures the tops of both the tachometer and the speedo. With all the speed cameras around it is nice to know how fast you are going. I have noticed the same thing on several hire cars too. What annoys other back roomers about design details?.
  • Points Disclosure (Insurance renewal) 9 Sep 2004 (Forum)
I got done for going through a red light at 19mph, in the camera infested area of Battersea, London. Anyway I have to renew my insurance and was wandering how much I can expect my insurance premium to be increased, when I tell them of my 1st ever 3 points during 20 yrs of driving.

  • Don\'t complain about your next speeding 11 Feb 2004 (Forum)
HELSINKI, Finland - Police gave a record $216,900 speeding ticket to a millionaire under a system in which traffic fines are linked to an offender\'s income. Rest of report in the \"Speeding (mostly excl cameras) XII\" thread. DD http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=19795&m=200285&v=e
  • Reactive glass 4 May 2002 (Forum)
It must be at the speed of light as you cannot see the flash. Motoring bit: if a sheet of this were placed over your numberplates, then a flash from a camera would instantly render the plate unreadable. Game set and match. Mike
  • Morpheous Geodesy 11 Oct 2001 (Forum)
I have just bought one of these devices. Basically its a GPS position locator with a database of fixed speed cameras loaded in to it. I have to say it is fantastic! I have had detectors before but they are no damned good as they give way too many false alarms. OK I can not detect mobile speed traps but for everything else I'm covered.
  • german registered new mini's 22 Aug 2001 (Forum)

  • Hyundai i20 - Red light accident 24 Jul 2014 (Forum)
The policeman said very lucky as if it had hit the driver door full on rather than the pillar between the front and rear door I might not have got away so lightly. My question is how do I find out if there are any traffic/cctv cameras to prove I was in the right? It's a junction I use regularly and have seen a few jump the lights before so can I find out how many accidents have occured and force the council to put in red light cameras so it doesn't happen again?
  • Mercedes-benz CL500 Auto - Using trader plates to steal cars 24 Aug 2024 (Forum)
But if a person who owns a trader plate covers the vehicle and drives off with it, then theirs no way to trace the car using the ANP cameras and other smart cameras on the road, or am I wrong? What can you do in this circumstance? I believe this person will ship it to another country. Is there any thing you can suggest that will help me trace and get my car park and to penalise the person who stole the car.
  • Make + model + trim recommendation wanted 6 Jul 2023 (Forum)
NOT via the display. 6. petrol, diesel, hybrid but NOT (solely) electric. 7. rear view camera 8. navigation system with live traffic (I prefer to NOT use Apple CarPlay, although I could probably use my phone as a wifi router if absolutely needed. I guess I'd need some sort of subscription - this is more convenient for me than using my phone.
  • Honda Civic 2010 - I ran a red tempoary traffic light 3 Aug 2022 (Forum)
I did it because in the heat of the moment I was p***ed off, it looked like they were just about to take down the traffic lights and I think I could see the guy manning the lights telling the guy at the front to go through the red. I'm like 90% sure the works have a permit, I'm not worried about getting caught by a "camera", I know full well the boxes on the traffic lights are not cameras, I'm more worried about one of the workers or motorists reporting me. That said if they do I take it they will also report the four other cars who went through the light.

  • Renault kadjar - Garage mechanic tampering with dashcam 7 Mar 2021 (Forum)
He drove back to garage and parked inside. An hour between videos so he must have temporarily disconnected battery and camera returned to normal. Knowing all this what advice would you give? I've a good mind to report this to his manager.  This is no cheap camera. Front and rear were installed with a separate battery pack.
  • PCN when machine failed to produce ticket 4 Apr 2018 (Forum)
Problem is - it is my word against theirs.  I have revisited the car park to check it.  In addition to the ANPR camera facing the entrance there are 2 other cameras there - 1 looking down on the machine and the other looking into the car park itself.  I feel that I should ask them to check the footage from these before proceeding any further.
