• Volkswagen Caravelle 1994/95 Auto gearbox - Staring problem; intermittent failure to restart, 6 Dec 2012 (Forum)
  Starts ok when cold but intermittent problem when restarting - sometimes no response when turning ignition key.  Rocking the vehicle in park or drive sometimes seems to solve the problem but there seems to be no obvious reason for this to work on an auto gearbox.  Other times leaving it for a short period and its ok again.

  Hi automatice car any suggestions for a first time driver i am 25 years old and have only just pass my test a month ago my buget for a used car is £2000 -£3000 and im not a small person about 94kg thanks will be for commuting to work each day about 30mins drive each way and for doing shopping etc bear in mind tax and insurance thanks

         My first car was a Vauxhall Viva HB. My driving instructor somehow got me through the test and sent me to see her husband who worked for the local dealers. £400 and I was away, can't remember being hammered for insurance but had had motorbikes for a while so perhaps I had some no claims.

    I thought it might be the front disc pads binding but stabbing the brake doesn't stop the creak.  Could it be the engine mounts or maybe a drive belt?  The car has done 90,000 miles and has a full BMW service history.

  i have recently noticed that i have a slight viberation/judder coming from low down in the engine bay or possibly gearbox when driving under load,its been suggested that this could be the flywheel,the car has 76000miles on the clock and a full peugoet service history,its a 2003 saloon and ive owned it since it was 6mths old,any ideas please?

  The other alternative would be to put a concrete screed of about 2" but this would leave a high lip where you drive in to the garage

  I am thinking of buying a newish Mazda 2 , the reviews that I have seen are generally positive (including this site ) When driving around I always keep a look out for a Mazda 2 so I can ask the owner what they think of the car ..............but I hardly ever see one ! Is this a bad sign ?  why are there so few of them about ?

  Bought a 56 plate Ford Focus TDci sport less than three weeks ago, the car is running great but the engine management light came on the other night while driving on motorway, the next morning all ok no light on, but three days later the light is back on, any idea what is causing it.

  we have an 06 and a 59 plate couple of aygo's,both are used at least 6 days a week;both when they got to 20k failed their mot's due to severe corrosion...

  In frosty weather when this error shows up the car wont start without jump leads. All other times it drives as normal any ideas?

  Hi. When driving my 1998 fiesta zetec at a steady speed it seems to jolt a bit and be a bit erratic. and when you come to a junction to slow down it seems a bit jolty too. Someone told me it could be the bottom gearbox mount , but i am not getting any movement from the gearbox.

  What exactly is the point of the modern trend for great big wheels surrounded by a tiny fringe of rubber? Unless one can guarentee driving on billiard-table smooth tarmac all the time (a laughable ambition in the UK), all they do is knock your teeth out, and get damaged very easily. Give me a big squashy doughnut any time ... Rant over, I'll get me coat ...

  I was driving along at 60 mph and the Prehearing Warning Light appeared and the car suddenly lost power and lots of smoke came from the exhaust. The engine kept running but still lacked power. When i stopped the car it would idle as normal.

  H Currently living in Glasgow Planning to drive down to London couple of times a month. I'm thinking of buying a Small Van.has to be High enough to accomadate a Honda 125 Scooter. Going to use that in London gets round the Congestion Charge. Also looking for the best MPG I can get.Thinking of a Ford Connect not sure of the MPG on these.

  Hi My 407 2.0 hdi only starts properly when i have given the primer bulb a few squeezes(it does start without the primer but takes a lot of cranking) once started its fine and drives very well with no problems, could this most likely be a fault with the seal in the fuel filter?, there is no smell of diesel. al

  I've just had a test drive in one and was quite impressed. I'm seriously considering taking the plunge on a 1-2yr old with up to 20k on the clock. I've read many reviews, all largely positive and was wondering if any owners have any views which they may like to share which could affect my final decision?

  The owner complains of fumes in car he complains of strong like diesel fumes at idling and whilst driving.  After doing some checksfor any diesel leaks none found . Also checked sump for any diesel mixing with oil  Does any 1 know of any known issues on this. Any feedback greatly appreciated Regards Mickeybo
