Renault Laguna Extreme DCI - Lose of engine power. - Johngalaxy

I was driving along at 60 mph and the Prehearing Warning Light appeared and the car suddenly lost power and lots of smoke came from the exhaust. The engine kept running but still lacked power. When i stopped the car it would idle as normal. When i pressed on the accelerator it is slow to pick up on the revs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The symptoms you mention relate to a sticking EGR valve, notorious on the DCI engine. They can be removed and cleaned or better to replace
