Vauxhall Zafira A (1999 - 2005) - 01 1.6 - error codes 11 Jan 2008 (Forum)
The engine management warning light came on ( constant, not flashing ) during a long hot drive back from S France last summer. No noticable problem though and the garage hooked it up when we had it MOTd , returning the error codes 0136 circuit high voltage 0335 Incorrect RPM signal. No immediate problem, they said, and reset the light. -
Worst at home (static) risk to your car? 27 Dec 2007 (Forum)
`What`s your worst static risk at home to the car and how far are you above sea level?` For me, despite being only 30 Metres above sea level, its the West wind and the risk of bits of cement and roof tiles blowing onto the car. -
Automotive new order - suggestions 10 Dec 2007 (Forum)
If the Backroomers were in charge of updating the Highway Code what extra rule/s would they include ? Mine would be - Upon completion of re-fuelling, immediately move the vehicle to a designated parking space at the filling station prior to going to pay. If it is patently obvious that the vehicle in front of you is about to parallel park, do not drive up to their back bumper and prevent them from doing so. -
Ceat spider tyres by pirelli? 30 Nov 2007 (Forum)
In a rush after hitting a kerb on the way to work (burstign a tyre) and went into a local Kwik Fit. After agreeing a price for a set of Pirelli p3000's I returned to find a set of 4 Ceta Spider tyres 175/65/ R14 on my pug 206. After questiong the guy about it, he said that they are made by pirelli (which it says on the receipt) and worked out to be £30 cheaper overall. -
Honda Concerto (1989 - 1994) - Cigarette Lighter / Acc Socket 28 Oct 2007 (Forum)
A friend has asked me to buy a solar trickle charger for her M reg Honda Concerto (that does 300 YES 300 mile between MOT,s) This is an attempt to try & extend the battery life/charge. Solar chargers currently available in maplins.co.uk for £24.99. She has told me that the Cigarette Lighter socket only heats up the cigarette lighter when the ignition is on. -
Ford KA, KA2, KA3 (1996 - 2008) - (2003) Steering rack play caused mot failure 6 Oct 2007 (Forum)
I can see that this is the only worn part.... can they changed as the rack is lots of money. Darren s -
UK driving vs Candian Standards. 3 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Low injury/accident rates (ref. media reports) Also the Blue Parking Permit issue: They have to pay the same as a normal driver and only have areas marked in car parks for Disabled Parking. (Which is adhered by, by leaving spaces empty for them.) Complete opposite to the UK. s -
Last car to have drum brakes all round in the UK ? 25 Sep 2007 (Forum)
I am assuming that if Trabants have disks all round that it wasn't marketed here and so wouldn't count. It is either going to be something like a Lada or else something from the UK in the 60's; but does anyone know for sure ? cheers Stu {slight adjustment to header in case any pedantic types think you're referring to musical instruments all round the car ;o) - DD} -
Mercedes Benz E-Class W124 (1985 - 2000) - 96 Cabriolet, 5 speed auto fuel consumption 24 Sep 2007 (Forum)

Vauxhall Nova (1983 - 1993) - Using wipers causes misfire 23 Sep 2007 (Forum)
When driving it feels like a misfire, and the engine management light comes on, then the engine restarts and everythings fine, when idling, the engine stops but restarts straight away. I've had a quick look at earths and fuses but can't see anything amiss. Any clues ? s -
Citroen ZX (1992 - 1998) - alarm keeps going off after battery change 22 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Can we disconnect the alarm or reset it manually? The car is only worth a few hundred pounds so trips to dealers are to be avoided! s -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 1.8 petrol, wrong oil for 2 months 21 Sep 2007 (Forum)
It came to light as when I took it in with the 'lumpy' problem, the oobservation was made that the oil 'looked very thick'. Thanks s -
Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 2003 HDi Handbrake 20 Sep 2007 (Forum)
It might then be worth re-adjusting using a screwdriver through the hole on the drum, to maximise the benefit. s -
Do automatics last forever ?? 11 Sep 2007 (Forum)
If I did it in my current 2.4 6 speed Accord then I will need the odd clutch replacement (maybe - but knowing Honda it will probably last - only joking) But if I decided to purchase an auto box would it last 200K without replacement or typically what parts would need replacing ? s -

Diesel MOT engine revs 7 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I was having tyres fitted a few days ago in a place that also does MOT`s. It gave me the opportunity to observe a smoke test being carried out. To my surprise the engine did not seem to be given a floored throttle up to the limiter. It seemed to be given a more gradual application of throttle and slower build up of revs to a lower max revs. -
Recent Journey a Rare Delight 16 Jul 2007 (Forum)
I arrived at my destination at both journey ends in a calm and relaxed state. The only downside, my naughty Panda 4x4 only achieves fuel economy in the low 30's when cruising at 70mph. Oh well, can't ave it all. -
I Have A Question - Volume 168 25 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Tricky to be hugely specific about the make/model of the gate, it gets pulled open by a telescopic bar at waist height on the inside when you waft a tag near a sensor oa pad outside, that´s about all I can remember. Any advice in the next half hour much appreciated. Cheers, Barchettaman
