Although it’s the same 2.0 full hybrid powertrain as the CR-V, it now accelerates more like an EV, and gaining speed now produces a much more muted tone than previously, with simulated gear changes - all electronics as there isn’t a gearbox.

  It sounds ok from cold but gets more tappety as the oil gets up to the temperature. The engine sometimes pinks (experimening with Shell V power but I am now thinking it is related to timing).   Hi all, Got a bit of a pinking problem with my 1.0 Corsa at between 3000-3500 rpm in 4th and 5th gears. I've tried running it on Shell V-Power / BP Ultimate for a few weeks, and even given it a dose of STP System Cleanup. The spark plugs are correctly gapped, new, and look in fine condition. The engine management light has never come on (apart from briefly when starting up) which makes me think the knock sensor is fine...

  I do about 90 - 130 miles per day round trip which consists of about 10 - 15 miles of a roads and the rest is motorway at about 85mph. Does 38mpg sound reasonable to any other focus diesel owners out there? FYI jan 2000 V reg focus ghia tdi estate, 107,000 miles - full lease company service and parts history. also i've heard about a few devices to improve economy and or power / performance. first is ProZone FuelSaver in-line fuel magnetiser/catalyst/fuel swirl device: http://www.fuelsaver.co.uk/faqs.htm other is a much cheaper alternative homemade version which is simply a screwdriver magnetiser clipped around your fuel line near fuel pump to magnetise the fuel.
