Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - 02 2.2 SRi Not revving over 3500 revs. 15 Jan 2009 (Forum)
vauxhall dealer have already got £70 from me today to run a 'diagnostic' on it i will come back with the error code it gave when i pick it up today, but they want up to £189 to run further diagnostics. I told them to shut the bonnet and not to bother. Anyone any ideas? is this this fuel pump problem everyone is talking about? and if so why does it happen after a stormy night? is wind throwing water into my electrics or something? Much appreciated. -
FIAT Punto (1994 - 1999) - 1994 1.1 Flat spot & poor acceleration 2 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I don,t have a scanner(well actually I have an Autel VAG305 for VW) but when checked by a local mechanic recently no fault codes & fuel pressure was steady at tickover & full throttle. ECU is IAW 6F 58 no immobiliser ecu - very early '94 model not fitted. Sorry it's a bit long winded but I tried to describe all symptoms & what has been tried to cure problem. -
Rover 400 (1995 - 1999) - 96 1.6 cold start/cooling fan on problem 29 Dec 2008 (Forum)
The one thing, looking at the wiring diagram, which could connect the two situations I feel is the coolant temperature sensor, which sends info to the ECU which in turn controls the fuel(including cold starting) and cooling fan amongst other things. So if this sensor goes belly up and sends out a signal that the engine is very hot, then I presume a)the fan kicks in and b)when you start from cold, the ECU is told not to use the automatic choke.Any thoughts would be most welcome as I loathe paying out a small ransom just for having it plugged in at the local dealers! -
Land Rover Freelander 2 (2006 - ) - Update after 6 months with Freelander 2 23 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Just an update, just reached the 6 month mark & almost 6000miles with a Freelander2 auto. Well what can I say, Hasn't returned to the dealer yet as it has been faultless. Fuel consumption now vastly improving with a 340mile round trip 80% on motorway with crusie control returned 37mpg at 70mph over 170 miles & 42mpg over 170 mile return trip with the cc set at 65 on the return I know that there was a post saying that the auto box hunts around gears but I cannot even make it hunt even at 30 mph on narrow roads. -
Sliplane mimsers now 21 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I really do wish that the price of fuel would come down to about 50p/litre, because this mimsing, slow-driver mindset is becoming a real issue at the moment in my experience. The latest one to infest the roads (of the North East anyway) is drivers failing to accelerate in good time on sliproads -- many of them are still only managing 35-40 when they hit the carriageway. -
Signum Rambles on...... 15 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Well now, having gone through the whole gamut of emotions and indecision on the Siggy.....should I keep it........do I like it......is it big enough.......???? Anyway, I still have it and as mentioned elsewhere it is now reasonably sensible on fuel costs due to the recent shift in prices. Thing is, to get to the point, I was a bit disappointed with the handling by comparison to the old faithful Mondeo. It was suggested to me ( by our very own Dynamic Mod ) that when the time came to change the tyres to opt for the alternative size. -

Yamaha Fazer v Suzuki SV 650 20 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I did have a sit on a 2000 MY Fazer- seemed to be just the ticket. Short enough for me to paddle around, nice and upright, faired, fuel gauge (this is still unusual on a motorcycle), and nearly 100bhp to play with. The one I saw was way overpriced, but I'm off to see a more reasonable sounding one on saturday (2000W, 18k, 12m MOT & tax, good condition, £1700). -
Audi A4 B6 (2001 - 2005) - 2002 1.9TDi Engine died and won't run right 14 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I have had it serviced 3 weeks ago - maybe 800 miles or so and it was MOTd on Saturday and done around 15 miles before this - coincidental?? Mechanic thinks its a fuel delivery problem and although the filter has been changed at the service, he is going to start there. As you would probably guess, he doesnt have vag.com software, however there are no lights on the dash. -
Honda Accord Tourer (2003 - 2008) - Warranty rectification 11 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I wonder if anyone has a successful strategy for dealing with dealerships reluctant to sort warranty problems? My Accord has suffered from extremely poor fuel consumption for the entire time I have had it. Consumption always hovers around 40 miles per gallon, occasionally as low as 35, and on a steady 60 mph journey on the motorway with no air con I can manage 43. -
Ford C-MAX (2003 - 2010) - Any views/opinions please? 3 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Hi all, I have been thinking about buying a Toyota Verso 1.8 petrol and, with all the rise in fuel and VED, I am begining to look around for an alternative. The other car which I am considering is the Ford C-Max. I had a quick sit in one in Motorpoint a few weeks ago and, partly because I was not really aware of the car and so my mind was 'set' against one plus I find the way I had to wrap my legs on either side of the large steering wheel column in a strange way, I admittedly did dismiss it. -
Help an American Buy a Car 7 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Our budget is flexible, but I would say £4k-£5k max and to be honest I would prefer less as we can really only afford £150 per month in all costs related to a car (car payment, petrol, insurance, etc). I would really be looking for something with great fuel mileage and a low insurance bracket, as being new to the UK driving scene, my insurance will be extortionate. I have looked at the Honda Jazz, as everyone I know that has it seems to love it, but I am not sure if it is the best fit. -
Never meet your heroes 19 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I have always coveted the E39 BMW Touring. Never could quite justify the cost but for various reasons including model replacement, fuel prices and so on they are starting to look reasonable at least on purchase price, if less so on running costs. Anyway, more on a whim than anything I went to see a couple at the weekend. One had the 2.2 petrol engine ( badged 520 ) with a manual box and the other was the 3.0 auto diesel. -
BMW - Warranty work or not? 14 May 2008 (Forum)
. --------------------------------------- *I wasn\'t surprised a) because I\'ve little faith in dealers\' ability to correct such matters, and b) because nearly new demonstrators - 330d and 325i - that I test-drove while I was there had the same problem to much the same or a lesser degree. Incidentally the diesel and the petrol returned almost identical fuel consumptions, according to the readout, on the same test route - same driving style, same traffic conditions. -
Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 2003 Hdi 90 hp - engine chugging 16 Feb 2008 (Forum)
The car has been with AP Diesel specialist for a few days & they have checked everything on the injection side, they have put 2 new valves in the injector pump & tried another set of injectors in it but could not find anything wrong in their tests & gave the fuel side an all clear, they suggested that it might be clutch or transmission. It seems to me that occasional the car will respond better & that the problem is almost unnoticeable other times it is obvious. -
Citroen Saxo (1997 - 2003) - 1997 1.5D Problems - Part 2 18 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Could it be an injector opening to early before the right pressure is reached or is it a sign of the fuel pump on the way out? Many thanks in advance for you help and patience. Styrman -
SAAB - Carbon deposits and sensors 9-3 2001 2.2 TiD 3 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Has anyone else got any suggestions as to what else they could look for as this sounds like more than the Saab main dealer was going to do for a third the price? Cheers, John p.s. Avoid supermarket fuel is the moral! -
Vauxhall Astra G Diesel (1998 - 2004) - 96 1.7 td Isuzu Diesel Cuts out & Lazy Alternator 14 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Airbag light The Airbag warning comes on when I'm cruising at around 3000 revs when warmed up. Any ideas? Is point 1 related to the fuel filter or pump? Are points 2 and 3 related? I plan to change my 'Glow Plugs' tomorrow Many thanks, Jim -
Ford C-MAX (2003 - 2010) - 06 1.8TDCi - MPG getting worse 26 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Also it doesn't seem quite as nippy as before. I've switched over to use Shell and BP premium diesel fuels for the last couple of months hoping that it might help clean any unwanted deposits, but it hasn't seemed to make any difference. It's still in warranty and I'm thinking about taking it to a dealer to get them to look at it, but as it's not actually broken down and the problems are fairly subtle, I don't have much confidence they'll be able to do anything about it. -
Hyundai Tucson (2004 - 2009) - CRTD Blue smoke from exhaust all of a sudden 27 Oct 2007 (Forum)
I was wondering if any of your members have suffered a similar problem . I don't think it was anything to do with injectors or fuel at all ,i have always believed blue smoke to be associated with oil . I can see this going on a while so i am trying to do some research myself before contacting the dealers again, like many people i don't have much faith in them..
