I don't drive fast, but don't want to buy an underpowered car either, so would appreciate any real-life feedback from owners. Many thanks in advance, Adam -
Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 02 2.0 hdi (fap) model lacks low end power 28 Jan 2009 (Forum)
When we purchased the car we were bombing about in it and ws getting 40ish mpg out of it now with the most careful of driving we can only get around 29mpg and it is really sluggish until you get the revs up. It doesnt smoke and there are no odd oil leaks or diesel leaks. Any ideas anyone dont really want to give the main dealer all or xmas money just yet Thanx -
Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - 02 2.2 Automatic doing strange things 18 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I have a 52 Vauxhall Vectra 2.2 Automatic. Recently I have experienced the strangest fault. When driving along, the car will seem normal, and then the enging light and the spanner symbol appear. When you put it over to manual the 5 will appear, however when you try and kick down a gear with either the pedal or the manual lever, it stays in 5th gear. -
Volkswagen Golf IV (1998 - 2004) - 2002 170ps - variable intake manifold 11 Jan 2009 (Forum)
could have been caused by driving for over 10000 miles with this undiagnosed fault? Forewarned is forearmed! {post amended to make use of drop down menus that weren't available at the time first composed.} -
ADI Training 10 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I like driving, I like people, and I like to think I have a strong work ethic ? so I've begun to think about training for ADI. My Uncle, who trained 15ish years ago, has not put me off. He has stated it is hard work but on the other hand has strong rewards. -
SEAT Ibiza II (1999 - 2002) - 99 1.4 Stalling problems at low speed 12 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Is there anything that could be tweaked to prevent me from having to rev the car so much to stop it from stalling? P.S. My dad won't drive the car, and he's been driving for 35 years! -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1999 1.6 running roughly 30 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Driving along quite happily today at about 40mph in top gear in SHMBO's 306, when it started to run a bit hesitantly, kept driving for about another two miles to our final destination and it got gradually worse, but not enough to warrant stopping. -
Mercedes Benz CLK W208 (1997 - 2002) - 01 200 Komp, possible O2 sensor problem? 27 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I started the car again and it ran OK but the yellow engine warning light on the bottom right of the instrument cluster has stayed on. Anyone an idea what this may be and would it be OK to drive the car 25 miles to my nearest MB garage? Cheers Moved over to Tech and year/engine details edited in, -
Toyota Celica (1994 - 2000) - 1994 2.0 Juddering when driving.. 26 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Hello... I've got a '94 Celica 2ltr GT (import) and its currently bouncing like a kangaroo with parkinsons. I had it booked into the garage on Friday... -
Mitsubishi Colt 3-door (2005 - ) - 07 1.1 Anyone ever had problem with EML coming on? 23 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Moved my car up my driveway. Turned off engine, locked it and went off to do other things. Few hours later, returned to drive car. It started fine, drove off down the road and noticed the engine maintenance light was showing on the dashboard. Rang Mitsubishi roadside assistance who said if the car was driving fine (which it is) then it's probably just the sensor and needs to be reset at a dealer. -
Confessions of a part time mimser 21 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I have to admit to mimsing in certain conditions. Let me first point out that I drive in the north of Spain, which is, of course, nothing like driving in the UK. (There are tolls everywhere, M'way cameras are mounted behind gantry-mounted LED panels the size of a tennis court and traffic police, apart from in the Basque Country, are all over the place.) -
Volkswagen Touran MPV (2003 - ) - Variable servicing - getting suspicious 16 Sep 2008 (Forum)
The shaper eyed amongst you will notice that it's only been 12,000 since the last one, where as the first two were at much greater intervals. We both drive the car the same way as we always have, and no one else uses it, so driving style can't be the reason for the difference. The reason I'm suspicious is that it's only been a couple of weeks since the car was in the dealer's workshop to have its cambelt changed. -
Highway Code -- sidelights in the dark? 10 Sep 2008 (Forum)
They appear to be saying that using headlights at night is either optional or forbidden (the wording is poor so hard to tell which) if you are driving in a street-lit area. Surely this can't be right? On the one or two occasions that I've forgotten to switch headlights back on after stopping in a car park etc to drop someone off, and been driving around with sidelights, I've been flashed by other road users. -
Ford Mondeo II (1996 - 2000) - 1998 1.8 Vibrations above 3000rpm 8 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Hi all After some advice really. I bought myself a Mondeo 1.8LX at the weekend to replace a car that died. On the test drive I noticed a vibration through the wheels when going above 3000rpm in any gear. The dealer said that it could just be a bit of a mis-fire as the car had been taken out cold after standing for a while. -
Vauxhall Vectra B (1995 - 1999) - 97 1.8 Clutch/gearbox crunching sound 26 Aug 2008 (Forum)
It mostly happens when using the clutch in low gears (junctions etc) and it has happened when stationary (happened loads stationary in a traffic jam yesterday when i was resting my feet). It has also happened when driving in 3rd gear a few times. The sound only lasts a second or so and its getting more frequent. Tends to be worse on hot days, and it normally takes at least 10-15 mins worth of driving for the problem to start. -
Insurance claims 12 Aug 2008 (Forum)
It seems very unjust that my son stands accused yet knows nothing of the allegations against him by the other party. There is no driving offence issue under process with this, merely the personal injury claim and what we consider to be an unwarranted blemish against my son?s driving record -
Stylish medium estate emitting under 175 g/km 10 Aug 2008 (Forum)
They are both physically quite tall and substantial, and they have a small child who normally travels with enough equipment for an Everest attempt. She is the driver, and one who likes driving and does so briskly. He doesn't drive but is keenly fashion and style conscious in some ways. Both function in a fashionably greenish world, which means they don't want the emissions to be greater than those of their present car, a Chrysler PT. -
Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - 1995 1.4 PTE SEFI erratic misfire when warm 10 Aug 2008 (Forum)
It is now suggested that the ECU may be at fault and should be replaced, if this is done will the new unit require reprogramming to the car by a dealer, I am told that the coil unit will have to be replaced as well as part of the ECU system. Recently the car has started to show the symptoms within a few minutes of driving from cold and is becoming dangerous to drive. I don't know whether the erratic running is caused by ignition or fuel problems Can anyone help with any ideas which will be appreciated, otherwise I scrap the vehicle at the end of the month {subject header made less vague by including a brief summary of the question being asked} -
Mrs Nsar is looking to change - suggestions please 9 Jul 2008 (Forum)
She drives a 53 plate Freelander Td4 S with about 60k on the clock - it was a demo when we got it. A bit scuffed and worn but nothing a bit of tlc wouldn't cure. Trade in price maybe £4500? She wants to reduce her carbon footprint and fuel costs. -
I was an L Artic driver briefly. What went wrong? 23 Jun 2008 (Forum)
After a while I was doing well, so I was told, but I gave it up. A problem. Guess what? not Cash, health or ability to actually drive the truck. Sure, I was pressed for time because I was studying. But this was Saturday mornings. Bet even GB can`t get the reason. Regards
