Sorry if this has come up before, but it's passed a few minutes for me :
www.dsa.gov.uk/mockpaper/theoryintro.htm#
The DSA allows you to take a mock driving test online. Done the first one, 100%. Will try the other later.
Didn't have a theory test back in the days I took my test, so it's interesting to see this.

It's not the same one that we had here before.
I didn't do as well as I might have hoped in test 1, hopefully test 2 will be better for me.

Please tell me why driver needs to be able to answer the following in order to control a car safely:
"Motor vehicles can harm the environment. This has resulted in
Mark three answers
air pollution
damage to buildings
reduced health risks
improved public transport
less use of electrical vehicles
using up natural resources "

Damn ! Only got 34 but then we don't have trams in this part of Dorset anyway.
3 years ago when I did my motorcycle theory test I got 35 and it only took 5 minutes as I'd bought a CD/ROM and practiced for a week before.
For a 20 year experience road user re-reading the highway code and studying for the theory test was quite an eye opener. There are now sections on attitude and, as above, environmental implications for driving a car.

You passed your driving test in 1966. You have hardly ever looked at the Highway Code since. You have an unblemished driving record.
You pass Tests 1 & 2 easily. Do you:
a) agree that this shows the test is a lot of nonsense and you have nothing more to learn
b) buy a better performance car
c) resolve to read the HC and check up on those questions you had to hesitate on
d) join SAGA

You intend to turn right into a side road. Just before turning you should check for motorcyclists who might be
Mark one answer
a) overtaking on your left
b) following you closely
c) emerging from the side road
d) overtaking on your right
Doesn't it depend on whether you are turning into a side road on the left or the right?
Given you have to take another driving test in order to tow a trailer, having trailer questions in this test seems a little beyond its scope!
|
|
Do you have to take a test to tow a trailer ??? thwhat size and weight can you tow without an extra test. Regards Peter

If you took your test after about 7 or 8 years ago, you have to take another test in order to:
D1 have more than 8 people in a car (e.g. drive a Landrover Stationwagon, minibus); C1 drive a vehicle over 3.5 tonnes (we older people can drive up to 7.5t); or E tow a trailer.
|
|
Sorry: +E tow a trailer up to 750kg - which is pretty poxy, really.

Hi everyone,
been reading the BR for a few weeks, finally decided to register.
MM,
perhaps i'm missing the point, but what does this have to do with trailers? - surely D is the obvious choice?
|
|
Nothing to do with trailers, only my inability to RTFQ!
|
No, please please show me how to turn left into a side road on your right. I'm dying to know!
[no U-turns allowed. Too easy.]
|
|
Depends which left you're talking about.

Depends which left you're talking about.
In my case, usually "left behind".

I concur. 33 on the car, 34 on the bus!

[comes back, guns blazing]
'You intend to turn right into a side road on your left.'
'You intend to turn partly into a side road on the right, but sit there with the back of your car sitting on the road.'
Easy!
