Worst Drivers in the World - helicopter
Where do you backroomers find the worst drivers in the world and why?

I nominate China, particularly Beijing - too many people , no driving tests and millions of death wish bicycle riders mixed in with everything else on M25 type roads.Life is cheap and as far as I can tell they have no such thing as insurance.

I will now retire and time how long before THe Growler nominates Manila

Hehe - shooting fish in a barrel, again! Lagos wins hands down!
Worst Drivers in the World - volvoman
My Nigerian godson came over to visit us about 18 months ago and made that very point. Apparently negotiating the traffic in Harringey was but a stroll in the park for a resident of Lagos. Evidently the road from Kano to Kaduna isn't much fun either!

Don't know if you've been around here long enough but 'Toad of Toad Hall' once answered this question quite brilliantly in this forum! Political correctness and the very real prospect of my wife beating me up however prevents me from repeating his assertion :-)

and millions of death wish bicycle riders...

I've never been to China but weren't they there first? Masses of cyclists used to be one of the more stereotypical images of Chinese roads.

Wellie - the bicycle was certainly there first but the problem is the numbers in a never ending flow and that they put their head down and just go where they like.

They do not stop for anybody or anything, the cheap car is much more available in China now and the mixture of the two is lethal.

The bicycle with trailer is the Beijing equivalent of white van man.

If your car starts to cough in Portugal it'll be that Punto with Ray-Ban'd driver up your exhaust pipe.

I second helicopter.

Beijing, closely followed by Shanghai. Suicidal, and then some. Looking back at the photos I took makes the blood run cold.

Now I know why my colleague who lives in the latter doesn't bother with a car.
