  Today, a 122k mile Y reg Mazda Premacy was ‘provisionaled’ at £2,800 by the vendor, a 125k mile 93K Golf 1.8CL sold for £1,000, a lipstick pink 84k mile 2000X SEAT Leon 20VT bid to £3,850, a 118k 2001/51 Citroen C5 HDI90 LX sold for £3,100, a 152k mile (endurance test) 02 reg Nissan new Primera 2.0S M-CVT auto sold for £3,350 and a very smart 107k mile Y reg Daimler V8 LWB that hid its miles extraordinarily well bid to £10,700. I hung around for a bit to watch some Renaults go through.

  A very clean 68k mile 92J BMW 318iS with sunroof and leather would have been cheap at the first bid of £1,000, but wasn’t at £2,025. Nor was a 71k mile 98R Nissan Primera 2.0SRI at £1,750. Nor a well-worn unwarranted mileage 92J Toyota Estima Emina four wheel drive diesel automatic that looked like it had circumnavigated the globe a dozen times at £2,200.

  This was a 2001Y 1.8GXI with parking sensors and a low 11,400 miles. It sold £6,050, bang on book for a 30k miler. A 38k mile 99V Nissan Micra 1.0 Inspiration sold for just £2,150, maybe because of its bright yellow paint. A 107k mile 95M Peugeot 405 1.6GLX was reserved at £100 and sold for £200. A 133k mile 96N Subaru Legacy 2.2GX saloon sold for £400 (unless I mis-heard).

  But generally cars seemed to be selling for a bit more than I’d have expected. A 75k mile 96P Nissan Primera 2.0SE was reasonable value at £2,250. £1,375 was about right for a 78k mile 96N FIAT Brava 1.6SX, as was £1,950 for a 22k mile 96N Punto Selecta and £2,100 for a 57k mile 96P Micra Shape CVT with PAS (small automatics are always strong).

  A pair of 98R Range Rover 4.0V8s made £6,400 for the 162k miler and £6,450 for the 178k miler (the same buyer bought both); a 95k mile 99T Freelander DI 5-door (which had been a disaster on the fleet) sold for £5,625; and a massive 39k 99T Nissan Patrol 2.8 GRTD 5-door in non-white black made a monster £11,200. Other highlights were a ex-Hants 144k mile 99T BMW 325TDS auto Touring, bid to a provisional £3,800 and a metallic blue 109k mile 97R Volvo 960 3.0 Executive auto, sold for £4,650.
