How many people to build a car? 22 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I am no expert on industrial production but an article in today's DT Business section reports on the success of Mini production and the number now exported to USA. It goes on to say that the Oxford factory employs 4700 people, split between 3 shifts, who produce "Up to 200 cars a day". I realise that there must be some admin and technical support but that production figure seems ather low to me. -
Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 2006 (55) 1.6 Petrol - Oil Consumption 31 Mar 2008 (Forum)
The garage tells me that this is an acceptable amount of oil to be burning. No other car I have owned (including a 1970s mini) has burned this much oil. What is an average amount of oil to burn for a car like this? Thanks -
Did I have a floor mounted dipswitch? 3 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Am I daydreaming or would my old Wolseley Hornet ( Mk 1 Mini in drag ) have had a floor operated headlamp dipswitch? I seem to think that it was to the left of the clutch. It is 30 years ago mind you, so I may be wrong! I also want to remember that the indicator stalk had a flashing end, but again maybe not. -
does you fit wot you drives? 20 Aug 2007 (Forum)
small people reaching controls ? thread?, do you suit the car you drive?. Are you a ?tall Guy? driving a mini with your head stuck out of the sun-roof, or are you ?dwarfish? person peering through the spokes of a ?Jags? steering wheel?. To start it off, I?m 5ft 7in, but just try to bully me when I?m in(used to be ) my Tonka!! -
Combo Van Towing Weights 14 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I have a 1999 old shape 1700 diesel van and have bought an old shape mini 1000. I have arranged a trailer that is not a full sized car trailer and need to know if the van will be able to legally tow the car and trailer ok. I need to find the weight of the trailer I know but I get the feeling it will be too heavy to tow legally. -

Another number plate query 30 Nov 2004 (Forum)
I was wondering if someone could explain something to me. The plate on my old Mini is pretty good (sad I know, but its one of the reasons why I bought the car) but the car is getting on and may get to a point in the future where I decide to sell it. However, I would be interested to know if there is anyway I can keep the plate even if I sell the car on, and then pop it onto any replacement vehicle I buy. -

tailgaters 1 Apr 2004 (Forum)
There seems to be an increase in tailgaters ..and no...I am not one of the dreaded middle lane hoggers. What do you think is the correct response to this mini road rage? it is very tempting to give a rude sign but I suspect the tailgater may not appreciate it. -
Distraction - the gameshow 24 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Anyhow - now for the all important motoring association. I have been surprised the two weeks when the mini was being smashed up at the end of the show just how tough the headlamp lenses were. It often takes two or three good blows from a club hammer to smash them through. Leon PS - do you reckon they patch the cars up at the shows expense? -

Decided 12 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Hi, You may recall me being on this bored a few months ago asking what car to buy for my first car. Well i eventually went for a new Mini One after much help from everyone here. I felt the car was the best option after a test drive and went for a nice spec. Also, the One has the benefit of the lower insurance group (5). I ordered the car about 3 weeks ago and its due in June. -

Drive-on train to Lyon next summer? 1 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I have been given a two-day break at a luxury hotel in Lyon and wonder if anyone has experience of drive-on train services to the area? I live in the Midlands, am keen to take the car - a MINI Clubman - so that I can fill it with wine on the drive back but am reluctant to drive both ways because of the time. The French Motorail service from Calais to Avignon seems one possibility, or is there a better idea?
