    Some of the models that were a fairly common sight 20 or 30 years ago are now seldom seen on the roads of Britain – or even at classic car events. Indeed, in some cases they’re bordering on extinction. Despite such rarity, some of the cars featured here are still in the doldrums value-wise. So if you should happen to spot one locally and can persuade its owner to sell, you might just end up with a bargain.
  • 1934 Bentley special makes £142,400 23 Aug 2016 (News)
    A one-off Bentley has been sold for £142,400 by Historics auctions. The car went under the hammer at its Brooklands sale on Saturday, 20 August but didn’t’ sell until a few days later. Based on a 1934 3½ Litre Bentley, restorer Ian Pitney took the existing chassis and mechanicals and added his own bodywork to the car.

    Ford Heritage will display a 1965 Mustang alongside the brand new version of this legendary muscle car, while an early example of the Focus RS will be displayed with the latest incarnation of the model. And visitors will have the chance to vote for their favourite car of the event in the People’s Choice Award, with the owner of the winning vehicle receiving a commemorative Beaulieu trophy and Autoglym prize.
  • Ford Escort XR3i makes £13k at auction 4 Mar 2016 (News)
    A 1928 Rolls-Royce 20 that starred with Alec Guinness in the 1955 romantic comedy ‘To Paris With Love’ sold after the auction, although the price hasn’t been released. For all the prices of the car sold at the sale, click here .

    The last Aston Martin DBS to come off the production line sold for £43,240 at auction. The car, which was found in a Surrey barn , went under the hammer at Coys Spring Classics sale in London on 10 March.
  • Top 10: £1000 coupes to buy in 2021 4 Mar 2015 (News)
    Despite such a tight budget, it’s perfectly possible to find yourself a classic coupe that looks a million dollars (well, almost) and has plenty of life still left in it. Not all of the cars featured here are phenomenally quick, but that’s not the point. This is all about the most affordable coupes on today’s modern-classic scene, most of which haven’t yet seen any upturn in values.

    The most common cause for a failure is lighting and signalling, though it affects 3 per cent fewer cars in WF areas than on average across the nation. The same can't be said for suspension and brakes though, which are 12 and 15 per cent more problematic here than on average, respectively.  Top of the manufacturer table is Triumph, but very few were tested.

    Hull’s tables are full of red numbers, which spells bad news for car owners in HU postcodes. Almost all of the common areas tested have higher failure rates than the average when tested in Hull, and pass rates for almost all model years and manufacturers are below average.

    The tables for Enfield (EN) are very green – meaning excellent pass rate performance across the board. Only Romford has a better overall pass rate then Enfield. So it’s good news for car owners in EN areas. Across all years of manufacturer and all makes and models the pass rates are higher in Enfield, often significantly so. That’s even the case when you look at the poorer performing makers at the bottom of the table.  The common failure items table contains only green numbers too, meaning a lower chance of failing across all the common items.
  • MoT Data for Durham 6 May 2014 (News)
    . Most of the causes for an  MoT  failure are a little less likely to affect cars tested in DH postcodes, although suspension and braking issues are about 8% and 9% more common than the national average, respectively. Steering, however, is significantly more likely to cause an problem in Durham, with steering related issues accounting for 4.3% of failures, 27% more than the average elsewhere.

  • Panthermobile up for auction 26 Aug 2011 (News)
    The original Pink Panther car – the Panthermobile – is up for auction with an estimate of £50,000 to £100,000. It’s the second time ever that the unique machine has come up for auction. It was built by Jay Ohrberg, who also created icons like the General Lee, the Back to the Future DeLorean, KITT of Knighrider fame and both the 1966 and 1989 Batmobiles.
