Among the surprises, the Vauxhall Astra Twin Top and Mitsubishi Colt Cabriolet boast residual values stronger than those of a BMW Z4. EurotaxGlass’s says the convertible market continues to be affected by seasonal peaks and troughs. Values fall at a more pronounced rate than the rest of the used car market in autumn and winter, then rise in spring when conventional cars continue to fall in value. -

Amongst the special interest stuff, a 113k mile 98S Mercedes AMG E55 estate sold for £10,800, a 102k mile 03 reg BMW 540iSE Touring auto sold for £11,000, a 64k mile 99T Peugeot 406 3.0V6 manual coupe with working aftermarket satnav sold for £3,925 and an apparently damage repaired (but very well repaired) 17k mile 04 reg BMW 645CI on 19” runflats bid to a very solid £37,800. -

Sharp buys to my eyes included a 137k mile 99V Xsara 2.0HDI 90 estate for £1,725; an ultra reliable 57k mile 99T Nissan QX 2.0 V6 SEL for £3,575; a 102k mile 2000V Mercedes E200 Elegance estate for £6,750; a 68k unwarranted 99T BMW Z3M roadster with a hardtop for £13,400 and, in the 72 car BMW section, a 69k mile 2001Y 320dSE Touring for £10,750 and a 46k mile 2000W 523iSE Touring for just £9,250. Amazingly, in the Alphabet section, no less than six old-shape Mercedes CLK convertibles came through bumper to bumper. -

A 5k mile 2001/51 reg Jaguar XJ8 3.2 Executive sold for £23,750; a 35k mile 2001Y BMW 728i with everything including the Playstation II sold for £22,950; a 44k mile 99V 728i with a similar list of goodies sold for £16,400; a 44,000 mile 99T Mercedes E55 AMG sold for £22,400; and a 32,000 mile 2001X Mercedes CLK 320 Avant-garde convertible sold for £27,000. -
