  • Mercedes W203 C220 Diesel - No throttle black smoke 7 Jan 2014 (Forum)
Ive had the Cats cleaned Turbo Intercooler pipes EGR and all vaccum pipes checked cleaned and checked for leaks. Also checked O rings Fuel feed pipes everything fine. There's no DPF on this car either. The only Significant Code that came up stated 'No low Airflow to Charge' and there were secondary codes stating low pressure from fuel pressure rail sensor Low temp from charge sensor Checked cleaned sensors and they're operating fine Also fuel pressure test confirmed no problem there.
  • Ford Mondeo Estate 61 plate - Ford 1.6TDCi & engine malfunction - limp home mode 1 Jan 2014 (Forum)
So although I'm doing nothing wrong buy using supermarket diesel when you mix it with big brand diesel it causes a "gelling" in the fuel filter which reduces fuel pressure which the engine does not like, hence engine malfunction.   I've read other posts talk about having replacement injectors / new dpf's but this (i'm told) is all wrong.
  • Mazda 6 - Idling and low rev torubles 18 Jun 2013 (Forum)
It has service history (not dealer) and all looked good, up until it started stalling for no reason while sat at idle. First thing was to run a full tank of fuel with injector cleaner in as the car had been sat for a while unused. Also replaced the fuel filter. After a google search I've heard of a common fault with the SCV on the fuel pump so I replaced that but no difference.

  • SEAT Ibiza ST Reference 1.6 diesel - Fuel economy 2 Jul 2011 (Forum)
With an additional two years warranty (four years in total,) 3,000 Euros discount and with a one third deposit, the balance over three years with interest free credit, what is there not to like?  No other car agent offered anything to compare.  The fuel economy is an additional pleasant surprise. Next year we shall be changing my partner's car and we both are convinced that another Seat will join us.
  • Mercedes CLS - Car not level side to side 2 Dec 2010 (Forum)
Is the fuel tank on the right hand side of the car (rather than spread evenly accross the rear)? I have asked the dealer this question, but I suspect they are motivated to minimise the importance of this question given they've just sold me the car.

  • Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 03 2.0 engine anti pollution system faulty ??? 7 Dec 2009 (Forum)
hi guys, please please can anyone help,, i have a peugeot 307 sw se 2.0 hdi.. some weeks back a engine warning light came on. its glows orange, and on the display screen it reads " engine anti pollution system faulty". plus on top of this, the fuel cunsumption has dropped drastically i mean on a full tank of diesel i am getting about 130 miles and then i am bone dry, time to refill. on inquiring at the main peugoet dealership they said that they needed the car to a full diagnostics and go from there, thus they did, they came back with. the serine fluid tank was empty, apperently this fluid is a additive, which is injected, into the tank every time you release the fuel filler cap,,, i had to go with what they said, they said apart from re-filling the serine fluid tank, it would also need what is called re-force generation, they said they have to do this to reset the allowance of fluid injected into the tank, all this work was done on friday 4th decembar 2009, and i am 200 quid ligther in my wallet.
  • Peugeot 406 (1996 - 1998) - 98 1.9 td white and back smoke 7 Dec 2008 (Forum)
a brief history, cam belt went and all relevant work was apparently done, car was driven for over a thousand miles with no problems, 1st full tank of deisel about 2 months ago started to produce some white smoke under heavy acceleration and gradually as i worked my way through that tank of fuel it got worse, heavy acceleration produced a cloud of black smoke, upon reading many forums i took a look at the air filter and indeed it was clogged, nice easy job, new filter in and i still have the same problem, second full tank of diesel and and smoke is getting worse, 0-60 in 2 minutes to keep the smoke lvl down, car has full power and drives lovely as long as i dont look in the mirrors, i have also changed the fuel filter, it may be coincidental but the internal heater wires connection became black, crispy and intermitent, that has been fixed and is working fine, also i have noticed in the past week that the engine temp is not getting higher than 70 degrees even on a 80 mile trip, not sure why that is but i put some hardboard between the two rads to block airflow, with one eye on the temp guage and one hand on the internal fan switch i kept the temp around the 90 degree mark, but still the smoke, no matter what temp the guage sais i am getting lovely hot air in the car, also i have added diesel redex in these last two tanks of fuel, but everywhere i read sais redex is good, any good advise on how to resolve this and get my car back to not poluting everyone who is behind me will be gratefully recieved
  • Peugeot 407 (2004 - ) - 2004 2.0 HDI 136 Fuel Economy 9 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Now this is an average. I would expect that from just doing town use. When I initially filled it up and reset the fuel comp, which is tallying with what it is actually doing, the computer took 50 miles to get from 27mpg to just over 30mpg. This tells me that it is doing roughly 29-30 mpg in town with maybe 42 on a run giving an average of 35mpg.
  • Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 2000 1.6 8v No spark after timing belt change! 30 May 2008 (Forum)
I checked all the electrical connections and all seemed okay. The only thing I disturbed (electrical) was the fuel pump relay which was removed and the engine run to depressurise the fuel system as instructed by the manual. I understand that there are many components in the ignition system that could fail (sensors, wiring, ECU, etc..). and cause this fault.
  • Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 03 HDi 110bhp Limp Home mode 30 Oct 2007 (Forum)
However on taking the car back it had gone into "limp home" mode under 2500revs. Took it back to the Peugeot dealer and they found the following ECU faults (all permanent): 1. Fuel pressure signal. Signal short circuit to positive, open circuit 2. Differential exhaust pressure signal. Coherence of the differential pressure when stopped 3. Additive system. Fuel tank cap pressure signal They have suggested performing the following work: Replace Fuel cap sensor 1503T2 £20.03 Replace pressure sensor FAP 161809 £73.74 Replace Rail pressure sensor 19207R £151.99 Add 2 litres of FAP Fluid 973685 £27.27 add in 3 hours of labour at £65/hr and it comes to £581.65 (inc vat) I'm also concerned that they may have ignored the Particulate filter which I think should be changed aroun 50k miles Could this problem could be related to the EGR?
  • Mercedes saga 3 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Plenty power to turn car over and lights. Recovery by motor organisation to Mercedes dealer with initial diagnosis of either fuel problem (car half filled 7 miles ago) or immobiliser. Rang 5 hours later to be told we are too busy today to look at it but will do so tomorrow. (Just as well I was not waiting to go somewhere) Dealer rang my wife Tuesday 10.00 am to advise battery useless as would not hold charge as well as faulty fuel relay.
  • Replacement Car 28 Jan 2002 (Forum)
I have narrowed the choice down to either: A4 110tdi avant se; 325 touring tds C250 estate. I am leaning towards the audi as I have owned an audi coupe and liked the quality, and the fuel economy is the best. I am not too enamoured with the bmw, they are expensive but the residual should be best. Which is the better engine the 318 and 325 engines? I also like the merc, but the fuel economy is fairly low. and I can't find any.
  • Ford Focus - B1492 error 10 Feb 2025 (Forum)
My question with the error on the car would it affect the performance of the car. It's making a noise when accelerating so didn't know if it was fuel starvation? Thanks in advance
  • Petrol Prices! 17 Mar 2022 (Forum)
Local petrol station had fuel at 1.42 and now jumped to 1.52.....  I  suspect people will be wondering why I am complaining as it probably more expensive elsewhere.... I was around 1.30 before the petrol shortage fiasco, a few months ago.
