Ford Mondeo 1.8 - Do I need to buy a diesel? 11 Mar 2013 (Forum)
I currently own a 52 plate Mondeo 1.8 zetec. We have had the car scince it was 3 years old and it came from one owner with full history and 92000 miles. It has now done 133000 and due to a change in circumstances i am now doing 2-3 thousand miles a month. The other day I worked out my MPG and to my surprise I found it was getting 44.5 mpg! -
Ford Fusion 1.6 TD - Tyre Sizes 6 Nov 2012 (Forum)
However, I do believe it would give my old bones a bit of relief. Adjusting tyre pressures does not help. I do not think performance or fuel consumption - which is great - would be significantly affected either. And clearances seem to be very generous as well. -
PEUGEOT 206 HDi - YEAR 2000 - FRONT END KNOCKING 13 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Could it be the top of the coil spring is not sitting in the location plate bolted to the top of the wheel arch or would the "Drop links" cause a knock this hard! Any help would be appreciated before I get back down on my creaky 68 year old knees once again. Thanks in advance, Woodie1944 -

Ford Fiesta (57) - Servicing (Is it under warranty?) 7 Sep 2011 (Forum)
Anyway when I called up Bristol Street to enquire about the service cost, before she even asked any details about the car, she asked a) is it under warranty (= no love its four years old) and b) does it have any extended warranty on it... (= no) It seemed a strange question especially the first thing she asked me... is this so they can invent problems knowing they wouldn't have to prove / repair it on warranty, or is this so they can try and sell me the warranty (although they didn't take contact details so presumably not) or for some other reason? -
Peugoet 307 - Peugeot 307 HDi 110 down on power 8 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Its not so bad after 2000rpm but 1000-2000rpm can feel like pulling off in an oil tanker Also if I floor it from 1000rpm the car will do virtually nothing then suddenly start to pull at around 2000rpm, like really bad turbo lag. My old 206 HDi 90 behaved nothing like this. It was gutsy through almost entire RPM ranges and turbo lag was virtually un-noticeable so I'm sure the more powerful 307 shouldn't be like this. -
Mercedes-Benz C-Class C200 kompressor auto 4 dr - How do i test the starter motor? and battery 7 May 2011 (Forum)
My dads car stopped working, the battery was flat with only 6volts. tried to jump start but under the bonnet the starter motor clicked and hummed away. took the starter motor out and cleaned all the carbon brushes all inside greased the shaft and put it back together. with the battery only a year old (yusa). turned the key and it started 4 or 5 times on the key. today the same. battery was discharged adn the clicking noise and humming was under the bonnet. took the starter out and the gear was jammed...... -
BMW 3 Series E46 - engine overheat 26 Jan 2011 (Forum)
background on car. driving along engine overheated. found aux belts come off and wrapped around viscous fan. tensioner pulley had broken. replaced tensioner and belts with new parts as old ones broken/damaged. topped up coolant, and bled system, run engine, heat through heating, then no heat and then engine overheat. had codes read, came up with coolant temperature sensor issue, replaced sensor assy and thermostat as comes as one unit. top up + bleed cooling system - still overheating. strip down cooling system, checked water pump, oil cooler, flushed radiator and heater matrix, flushed coolant hoses - no issues found, refit all parts, refill cooling system, guess what - still overheats. -

Peugeot 106 diesel - winter tyres all year round 1 Dec 2010 (Forum)
I need to replace my old tyres anyway and wondered if it would be sensible to get winter tyres, and leave them on for the few summer miles i drive. They are all on empty country roads where i hardly have to brake anyway. i am assuming if i don't modify the wheels i don't need to inform my insurance company. -
Nissan Terrano II - Insurance rip off 25 May 2010 (Forum)

What motorway MPG for Transit sized van? 16 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Not flat out, just going with the flow at 70/75MPH. The goods won't be heavy, just bulky. I'm hopeful of 30-35MPG based on the fact my old S-Max would get 45-48MPG at those speeds. Thanks -

Volkswagen Golf IV (1998 - 2004) - Golf v Focus v Astra 29 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Hi, My much better half has been looking for some time now to replace her old Clio auto, and has seen a MK4 Golf 1.6S auto,51 plate,47k miles, one owner,FSH,for £4295. It seems a reasonable example but having read HJ's report on the MK4,and also some troubles who people I know have had with them,I have my doubts. She likes car,but I have also come across these locally: Astra 1.6Life(AC) auto,04,28kmiles....£4,495 Focus Zetec,3dr auto,03,8k miles.......£4,495 The Golf has a very nice feel inside, but are they any better really than the others. -

I have just purchased an old but reasonably well maintained 1.6i Volvo 440 SE. The mileage is now 54k which looks genuine. There are a lot of main dealer service stamps in the book but I can find no reference to the cambelt change. -
Jeep Grand Cherokee (2005 - ) - 05 3.0 Steering Rack 30 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I have a Jeep Garnd Cherokee 3.0 CRD purchased 2 years ago from a Jeep dealer, Old of Yeovil, and which has always been srviced on time at that dealer. The car has been excellent, particularly for towing a two horse trailer. Until now at 60,000 miles when the steering rack has about 1/4" of play and needs replacing to pass the MOT. -
MINI Cooper R50 (2001 - 2007) - 03 Coolant looks like chocolate 14 Jan 2009 (Forum)

FIAT Punto II (1999 - 2006) - 00 1.25 New engine - is it worth it? 6 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Garage said it was more than that but didnt specify anything - just said it needs new engine. I dont know much about this type of stuff - but is it worth getting a new engine for an 8 yr old punto or scrapping it and getting a new one. Rest of car is in decent condition and was working fine up till 2 weeks ago. i found an engine on the web - 31,000 miles done, delivered to my door for £430 with 12 month warranty.
