Hi, can anyone help me, please!! :o( Long Post Warning .... sorry, but thought you'd like all the details. I have a Renault 19 RTI 1.4e 'm' reg. I've had it for 2 years, and it has started first time, every time, until ..... last week! There was a leak from the metal pipe thing (is that the right name for it!??) that sits along the front of the manifold.

  • All - Used Car Warranty - 'the autogroup' 14 Oct 2018 (Forum)
My question is are the warranties worth it and does anybody have experience of 'the autogroup'. My reason for querying is two used cars I brought (Renault from main dealer and Vauxhall from Vauxhall independent) were nothing but trouble and their warranties as useless as chocolate fireguards. Two other cars from 'all make' independents came with warranties but were utterly reliable so Im never had to use the warranties.
  • Grand scenic 1.9 DCI 2004 - Clutch issues 27 Oct 2017 (Forum)
So while taking a drive today the clutch pedal went to the floor and didn't return. After calling the AA he said its most likely the clutch has gone. Renault have quoted us £900 all in. Now after being recovered to the garage the recovery driver noticed a huge puddle of fluid on the bed of the truck. Turns out to be brake clutch fluid. I got in to release the handbrake and it came up with a brake fault.
  • Which cars have 'quickclear' windscreens? 6 Mar 2017 (Forum)
(The s/hand cars I'm considering are the aforementioned Superb, Hondas Accord and Legend, Lexus LS400, Toyotas Avensis and Camry, Mitsubishis Galant and newish Colt diesel auto, Nissan QX, Renault Vel Satis and an M-B W124 or the later W210 E220 CDI. Not exactly a shortlist . . . yet.) Thank you. AF.
  • new reliability survey; time to change opinions? 25 May 2016 (Forum)
In view of a recently published survey from a well known vehicle warranty company maybe it is time to change opinions regarding certain makes or models. Surprising to learn that Renault and Peugeot do quite well. Ford and Vauxhall have a decent showing. Mazda do very well. However, on the forum the current thinking is; don't touch French cars (dodgy electrics), Vauxhall (only average) and Mazda(diesels are rubbish).

  • Emission control treatment - is it worth paying for? 28 Jan 2014 (Ask HJ)

  • Any - Family car for under £6k challenge 17 May 2012 (Forum)
Hit me up with your suggestions. The only car that fits most of those criteria at the moment is a Renault Megane Estate 1.5 DCI, or a Peugeot 307 SW 1.6 HDI, but I'm rather scared of those with reliability side of things (and with the pug the DPF). I can't seem to find anything else. Help!
  • ford focus estate - need bigger car with good mpg under £4000 8 Apr 2012 (Forum)
And that handles nicely (i owned an alfa 156 before the ford, so was spoilt in terms of handling). Any suggestions, i dont want ford again. No renaults as they leak like sieves, known from personal experience. Other makes i dont like, peaugeot, rover, kia, hyundai, skoda (it is still a skoda no matter how pretty they make it look), i think that might be it.
  • Citroen C2 (HDi) - Need REAL mpg figures for Motorway Commute 5 Sep 2011 (Forum)
I'd like to know whether people are actually meeting the 70mpg figures I've seen thrown around?  Also looking at Renault Clio and 206 if anyone can give me any further advice? Budget for the buy is £3000-£4000. Have found relatively good cars of each model in that budget. Reliability is also a factor as I'll be piling on 20,000 a year commuting.
  • Which small/medium car has most comfortable ride? 16 May 2011 (Forum)
It used to be said that the English blamed the road and the French blamed the car for a rough ride.   What is the modern equivalent of 1960s Renaults/Citroens with squashy seats and soft shock absorbers?  As French roads are now far better than ours, they do not seem to make suitable cars any more!
  • saab any - Another Going Going GONE! 24 Apr 2011 (Forum)
The French have too much national pride to allow their industry to go under for the moment, but the prices of the current Citroen Peugot Renault ranges are hurting them, especially if compared to the realistic korean pricing. After that all the european mass producers will fall one by one! Sad really, because the new 9-5 looks quite stylish.
  • Any - Why so many gears? 31 Mar 2011 (Forum)
In the past week I have been driven in two (turbo) diesels; a Passat and a Renault (?). Both of there were around 2l and had six speed gearboxes. With modern technology they seemed quite happy at 30 mph in 6 th . This set me wondering if they are so torquey why do they need six gears?
  • Vauxhall Zafira - 3 kids in the back: Zafira or Grand Scenic? 5 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Any pointers on ones that will get three car seats accross the back? With about 3.5k I am looking at either a Zafira 1.8 with 20k on the clock or a Renault Grand Scenic 1.9 deisel with 60k on the clock, both of them around 2005. Anyone with any views on either? Would a deisel carry the extra miles better or should I go for the lower mileage petrol car.
  • How much labour charge to replace a wiper motor? 13 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Hi, My wife's cars wiper motor needed replacing a few days ago and we've just received the bill.  The car is a 2001 Renault Megane and we went to a local indie that we use to service the car.  The bill has come in at £55 plus VAT for the labour which to me seems rather excessive.  I believe it's just a couple of bolts that hold the motor on, a 'click-on' electrical connector and the removal of the mesh at the back of the engine bay.
  • Vauxhall Zafira - vauxhall zafira is the 1.7d a reliable engine 13 Sep 2010 (Forum)
I am interested in vauxhalls new lifetime warranty and despite the problems encountered it is a good 7 seater. I am also considering a grand renault scenic.
  • Unusual or confusing car problems / defects. 11 Dec 2009 (Forum)
The queueing for fuel thread reminded me of a problem I had many years ago. I had a Renault 4 which would often misfire, and in freezing temperatures would not run. The misfire was caused by water in the fuel, and when a slug of water froze in the pipe from the tank to the pump, no go!
