    Product marketing manager Christopher Horrell stated: "They are designed purely and simply to reduce impact on the environment, which in turn will lower fleet running costs." The GreenLine edition of the car boasts CO2 emissions of 114 g/km, while the diesel 1.6 TDI CR Octavia also releases less than 120 g/km of CO2. As a result, anyone buying the models will be entitled to pay £35 per year in road tax.

This comes after a scheme run by the force in partnership with a number of other agencies stopped motorists in Huddersfield to check they were capable of reading a registration plate from distance.     In a bid to get motorists to think about the benefits of going green, DfT's Act on CO2 website has launched a search tool which allows potential car buyers to compare the emissions and running costs of various current models on the UK market. The government claimed by opting for a more economical vehicle, drivers could save up to three months' worth of fuel annually. Commenting on the new online service, transport minister Andrew Adonis said: "By using the ACT On CO2 search tool, buyers can choose the most fuel-efficient cars and see the savings on the screen in front of them.
