Or maybe told the examiner that once they got past the stupid speed camera "I can get a move on". Or perhaps they nipped into a bus lane to overtake a line of traffic. Or did they drive as properly as they could, obeying rules and regulations, and observing the highway code.

  • Red Traffic Light Camera Offence 29 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Unfortunately, a few months ago, my young Niece was caught by a Red Traffic Light Camera going through a red light. Apparently the time of the photograph is six seconds after the lights turned to Red. She is 20 years old. I myself just expected nothing to happen, if, hopefully, the camera didn't have any film left, or she would receive the usual NIP with the offer of a fixed penalty 3 points plus a 3 point licence endorsement.
  • Vauxhall Astra - Red Light Dilemma 19 Jul 2012 (Forum)
They changed at some point after the other guy and I went through and while we were held up trying to drive onto the island. Just would be a shame as I will have to take the three points this time. Or would the camera just not trigger in a case like this? I saw no flash (and these cameras definitely do flash when you get zapped.)
  • Speeding stats for my village 23 Jun 2007 (Forum)
On the eastern road, coming into the village from a 60 to 30 mph, 41% of cars were exceeding 36 mph and a massive 73.8% were breaking 36mph heading out of the village so all would have been fined if a camera had been sited there. Furthermore, 93% of drivers were exceeding the 30mph limit coming into the village although may not have been caught on a camera. On the road past the primary school which is more important still, westbound 51% were exceeding 36 mph, eastbound 55%.
  • M32 10 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Just a cautionary note, the road authorities are installing at least four speed cameras. Two northbound and two southbound. Between junctions 1 and 2.
  • N/A - Road management 10 Jun 2019 (Forum)
If there is a crash or breakdown in the tunnels there is nowhere to go.  The present solution is managed by cameras and speed restrictions monitoring the flow and volume.   On the approach to the tunnels gantries can display 4 or 5 speed limits within less than a mile before the tunnels and these are covered by Speed Cameras,  The result is the inevitable sharp braking to avoid a ticket and the knock on effect behind and miles yes miles of queues forming most of the day.
  • Suz Swift 68plate - Windscreen replacement and Lane Change Camera's 26 Nov 2018 (Forum)
Not impressed with Mr Black CRV Question. Does anyone else know if what Autoglass tell me is correct.  I have to get the Camera system that drives the Lane Change thing re-calibrated afterwards?  So the utter c**k has cost me £75 excess (already)  plus possibly a re-calibration charge?  If so any clue as to how much we are talking about here?
  • Bus Lane cameras - curse them 5 Apr 2016 (Forum)
Yesterday, a couple of envelopes from TfL dropped on the doomat showing she'd been flashed in a bus lane, by the same camera on successive nights over a week ago. It was an honest mistake on her part, it is near a left filter and she thought the bus lane ran out there - obviously not! The thing that scares me is that she's evidently been doing this habitually (she's obviously stopped now!)
  • When to go through Red Traffic Lights? 9 May 2011 (Forum)
My question is that for the police to instruct you to go through a red traffic lights can they do it from inside their car or do they have to come to you and instruct you to move?  Do you have to take their badge number or car reg number in case you are caught on the camera and have to attend court? Personally i will move to let them pass when i know if there is no red light camera. What are your opinions?
  • Speed Camera Thread - Volume 50 [Read Only] 13 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Hello Not been on for a while, but was prompted to by something that's been bugging me the last few weeks, having been working away and driving a long commute Mondays and Fridays. What is it that lorry drivers don't understand about 50mph average speed cameras on roadworks? I have now lost count of the number of times I have seen aggressive driving from them because someone is, er, going at 50mph in front of them through these roadworks and there are LOADS of them at the moment: on my journey: M6, M42, M40, A404, M4... is it because they can't just keep their pedal to the metal at 56 or whatever they are restricted to?
  • The Speed Camera Thread - Volume 21 2 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Here is a guy that gets zapped 3 times for speeding in 14 months. The first being 68 in a 50 limit (roadworks?) on the A.1. Come on we all know that there are cameras amongst all the signs. To do that speed even at night is really chancing his arm. The other two are marginal 40 in a 30 and 37 in a 30. But again he puts forward the hoary that he doesn't know what speed he is doing and has to clock his speedometer all the time.
  • Police Presence 17 Aug 2001 (Forum)
There has been much discussion about the vast increase in the use of cameras, and other devices, to, supposedly, reduce vehicle speeds in controlled areas. and, it would appear that this vast expenditure is mainly aimed at increasing revenue for the various police forces who use them.
  • Violence from motor bikers. 17 Dec 2020 (Forum)
This frequently manifests itself by the biker striking the car by punching or kicking. It seems to me that the frequency of cameras worn by bikers gives them carte blanche to threaten or attack motorists, secure in the misplaced knowledge that " I've got you on camera " ! Worse yet is when bikers, in groups, then surround the motorist in a very threatening manner ; this is truly terrifying.

  • Cruising at a specific speed - on the motorway 25 Oct 2007 (Forum)
I find I have no trouble at all at cruising at a specified speed. Strangely, nor do other drivers when average speed cameras are around. It does not require me to stare at my speedo the entire time. Traffic flows extremely well in 50mph average speed zones. I suggest average speed cameras for the entirety of our network.
