  • Forte gas treatment / sticking valves. 30 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Also could you give me an idea of how much it costs? I don't understand why it is supplied only by garages, how difficult can it be to pour it into a fuel tank.
  • Q for Graeme (C5owner) re Clio 23 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Could you give a little more detail (cost, difficulty of job, where you obtained them from) please? My sons Clio (K reg) is suffering badly from rust on nearside rear (fuel filler side) and despite repairing with filler etc and giving it rustproofing etc the rust showed through again in a matter of weeks. Only solution appears to be replacement of part of rear wheelarch but I was told it would cost about £500 to be done professionally - car not worth much more!

  • Jaguar S-type misfiring 13 Aug 2003 (Forum)
I then find at steady speeds of 40 mph and above that the engine appears to hesitate or misfire when I begin to accelerate. After about 100 miles or so the misfiring becomes less and eventually stops. The fuel used is Esso 95 regular. Is my problem due to the urban driving causing a 'coking up' or does it indicate a more serious problem?
  • Pinking Corolla 27 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I only have one problem with the car. For some reason it is pinking. I change gears at the right time and I avoid Supermarket fuel. The car is due for its 30k service - but this doesnt include plugs etc. Any ideas what could be causing the pinking and how to cure it ? It does it most of the time, not only when going up hill.
  • Ford 1.8 Zetec probs 11 Jun 2003 (Forum)
My 1997 Escort 1.8 Zetec has started to stutter and doesn't seem to be running at it's best, fuel consumption is normal, all fluid levels fine. The vehicle has 53000 miles and a full Ford service history. The problem is quite difficult to describe but it seems to hesitate at certain revs and when travelling on the Motorway it feels like it's holding back intermittently when I'm maintaining a steady speed.
  • Vaux Senator Faulty Digital Dash Display 7 Jun 2003 (Forum)
On a \"C\" registered Vauxhall Senator 3.0 CD the dash is all digital apprt from the mileometer . My problem is that where the gauges show fuel, oil, battery, water temp , they no longer light up when the ignition is switched on , speedo and rev counter are fine . Is the problem just down to a bulb , or has the whole dash got to be replaced ?
  • Audi 80 temperature gauge 2 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I am sure the thermostat is OK as the heater output seems fine and the top hose gets hot. For the first time yesterday I also noticed that the fuel gauge was not registering although the tank was nearly full. This was OK after restarting the engine. Are these two things associated? Could you please help in directing me to the cause and remedy. Thanking you in anticipation.
  • Diesel Beamer Judder 25 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Occassionally it hapens in third when you accelerate through 1500/2000 rpm and it feels like you loose power. I think it is fuel related, could it be air in the common rail or foaming or the injectors or loss of pressure in the rail? I also wonder if the air sensors are playing up. Surprise surprise my BMW garage cannot find the fault!
  • Hdi transplantation 10 Feb 2003 (Forum)
I have the engine and its wiring loom bolted up to a test bed every thing is pluged in except for the display panel (i cant find where to plug it in!). When i turn the key to full ignition the fuel pump on the engine starts to buzz(it also stays buzzing for a few secounds after even after i rempve the key) is this normal? I turn the key to start the engine and the engine turns over but does not fire, is there any sensors for water depth or something like that that stops the engine from starting?
  • Rover 220 Coupe Problems 21 Dec 2002 (Forum)

  • Honda Prelude advice? 24 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Does the auto transmission give a good smooth ride? I've driven accords and civic autos and always liked them. What sort of fuel economy do you realistically get from the Prelude? Is it quiet on the motorway? How much should I pay for one? Any other advice, +/- points? Cheers.

  • hydrogen and hybrids 26 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Yesterday it was reported that the UK government has decided to back fossil car fuel for the medium term (50 years) and to endorse the hybrid petrol/electric approach as the quickest way to get CO2 emissions reduced. Thus no steps to support development of a hydrogen delivery system and infrastructure.
  • FIAT Tipo (1988 - 1995) - 91 turbo diesel bad MPG 13 Apr 2002 (Forum)
I'm only getting 30 ish mpg no matter how I drive it even though I mainly drive 30 miles to and from work each day on a motorway. generally only drive at about 60 mph. Anyway its a 1991 model with new airfilter and fuel filter which I fitted a month ago. ANY ideas will greatly be appreciated as £45 a week is a bit excessive to keep me going to work. I had another of these cars before and always got at least 50 mpg plus!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Coking - today's DT 24 Feb 2002 (Forum)
However haven't used anything to cure/prevent apart from using only Shell petrol, this has cured the problem, interestingly filled up with supermarket fuel the other day (as nearly ran out couldn't make to a Shell station) and occasionally would have smoke behind when changing up. Can I use Shell Optimax in my 1990 Subaru Justy GLII 4wd 1189 cc (carbed model) or will it be bad for it/a waste of money?

  • SAXO 16V VTS 12 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Hi, Strange behaviour with my saxo ('97 P plate). Whenever she has less than half a tank of fuel, the idling becomes more of a struggle and often when I stop at a junction or lights etc the revs drop right off, to such an extent that the anti stall kicks in and she revs and then settles. Once or twice she has even cut out.
  • More on Diesel Smells 20 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Today's local press announces Philippines Govt has launched a project based on using coco oil blended in with diesel fuel. Since the country has millions of hectares of coconuts it will be interesting to see how this works if it gets off the ground. The exhaust smell might even please Eleanor and some of the greenies.
