C,
Noticed on another thread that you have "replaced wheelarches on a Clio".
Could you give a little more detail (cost, difficulty of job, where you obtained them from) please? My sons Clio (K reg) is suffering badly from rust on nearside rear (fuel filler side) and despite repairing with filler etc and giving it rustproofing etc the rust showed through again in a matter of weeks. Only solution appears to be replacement of part of rear wheelarch but I was told it would cost about £500 to be done professionally - car not worth much more!
Many thanks in advance and apologies to moderator for raising this under "Discussion" but original thread is on this rather than "Technical"

Have Emailed you direct - it's a bit involved!
Basically the panels cost about £24 each side. They are surprisingly big, though , so you need to trim off quite a bit usually. Added to this, you'll need a couple of tins of Plastic Padding to finish off, a couple or aerosols of primer and 2-3 aerosols of top coat. All this plus wet & dry, grinder discs, hammerite for finishing behind the arch etc costs about £100.
I got a pretty reasonable finish - not perfect, but you only really notice a slight 'shadow' where the filler is in certain lights, so considering this was a 10 year old car, I was well pleased. It would have been silly to spend more.
Got parts from www.autosave-scotland.co.uk They are excellent - extremely knowledgeable and can usually get what you want without any nonsense with wrong parts etc. I collected the bits because I am only 40 miles from Aberdeen, but they will post within the UK - free if order is over £75 I think.
Good luck, Phil

In addition to this message Graeme has sent me an e-mail of step-by step "how he did it" which must have taken him some time to write. I'd just like to say a big thanks in public - it never ceases to amaze me that there are still people who are prepared to do this for a complete stranger and for no reward! Restores your faith in human nature doesn't it!! I'm sure this also applies to many others who receive sound advice on this board - there are some really good people around.
Thanks Graeme

You're more than welcome, Phil. Just bear in mind that I'm no expert. Professionals would take a fit if they saw some of the tricks I get up to!
Anyway - I get as much out of this forum as anyone so it's good to chip in when I can.
