Lotus Carlton 16 Mar 2004 (Forum)
This is one car, above all others I'd love to have a drive in. Don't suppose I'll ever get a chance though. Anybody out there been in one, driven one, or even owned one? Would love to hear any tales about them... -

Banging noise? 8 May 2003 (Forum)
Hi Recently had some new tyres fitted to my Audi A6 and ever since when turning in either direction there is a faint banging noise. It\'s fine when driving in a straight line. Anyone know what this could potentially be? Thanks Andrew -
Impreza fuel consumption! 2 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Am I going to regret buying an Impeza turbo? I only do (at the moment) 8000 miles per year, but I have really enjoyed driving one!! Buy one or buy something sensible like a Mondao? Any comments! -
Turbos 12 Aug 2002 (Forum)
Do todays modern Turbochargers need time to cool after use. I know drive a Passat 1.8T and often wonder whether I should let it idle for a minute or so after a run. I know it was advisable a few years back, but is it still necessary today. -
Anyone in Wiltshire/Glos. give me a weather report 1 Feb 2002 (Forum)
It sounds pretty hairy over there according to the vairous websites I've had a look at. Is it really bad ? I'm meant to be driving down to the Forest of Dean from Essex tonight. -
Flat Geodesy in Francaise 21 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Message from Steve Warren of the UK Speedtaps site. Chap from UK driving in France was made to run his wheel over a £400 Geodesy because the French bobbies do not like speed camera warning devices. £400 ! Ouch -
Car insurance for young drivers 28 Jun 2001 (Forum)
Is it better for a young driver to have his/her own insurance from the start or be a named driver on a parent's policy until he/she passes the driving test? -
Ford Fusion (2002 - 2008) - 04 1.4, EAC fail - (petrol) re-curring TPS fault 3 Apr 2022 (Forum)
Hi Hopefully my first post will yield some decent results. I drive an 04 Fusion 2 which has done just over 60k Last week i was driving from nottingham to southampton and going down the A34 at about 70 when the engine seemed to die - no response on revving, no power etc. -
Ford Focus - Faulty car sold - removed DPF 29 Mar 2022 (Forum)
I called the dealer, they picked up my car, left courtesy vehicle reassuring me that on policy provided by them I can still do my job - delivery driver. When I called insurer they declined. I was informed that I shouldn’t be driving courtesy car as policy only covers purchased car on drive away(5 days). For about a week dealers garage didn’t do anything with my car, I’m meant to call them on Monday in regards to find out whether they would fix the car or find different solution. -
VW Caddy issues 11 Oct 2021 (Forum)
Also, sometimes when turning over it sounds like it is trying to fire on three cylinders with that 'digadigadiga' noise, but this has never been the case when it is running. Losing power: A few weeks ago while driving along on a steady throttle in 5th gear at about 50mph, it abruptly seemed to lose power and revs, almost like my foot had slipped off the throttle (the engine didn't cut out). I dipped the clutch and blipped the throttle, it revved fine, so I let the clutch back out and it was driving as normal. -
2008 OPEL COMBO 1.3 CDTI COMBO-C-VAN 1245cc 75hp - 08 COMBO 1.3 CDTI Wooshing sound while driving 11 Jul 2021 (Forum)
My 2008 OPEL COMBO 1.3 CDTI COMBO-C-VAN 1245cc 75hpd makes a wooshing noise, as if high pressure air was leaking, from engine bay while driving, from a certain load and RPM and upwards, for example at 4th gear / 80kmh / 3500 rpm or 5th gear the same rpm. Disappears immediately when releasing the trottle pedal even slightly or pressing the clutch. -
Any - Bangernomics & big bills 8 Feb 2021 (Forum)
Of course there may be other big bills, such as a clutch, that could equally be of consideration. But in my driving life, l've only had one clutch replaced & that was a long time ago. -
All - Car seats? 12 Nov 2020 (Forum)
I am 5 foot 2, and need the seat fairly forward and the back fairly upright to reach! Last Christmas, I bought a 2018 Civic. Felt odd on the test drive but assumed that it was getting used to it/seat adjustment. By the time I got it home, 3 hours later, my back was aching badly (and within a month even when not in the car). In the end, gave in, sold it for a SEAT Arona, fine on the test drive, back aches after 15 mins or so. -
Audi Q3 - Car on order with all the things Backroomers hate! 15 Mar 2020 (Forum)
A bit of research suggests this is the 6 speed wet clutch DSG, as opposed to the dry clutch 7 speed which was the more troublesome. The test drive showed it to be a superbly smooth engine/gearbox combination. Obviously, for us, it's not an issue, as it's a contract-hire agreement, including servicing, insurance, VED, breakdown cover, tyres etc. -
Driving ban & more- how much will my insurance be? 5 Dec 2018 (Forum)
She was a named driver on my policy and so I lost most of my no claims ( it went down to 1 year ). And the other thing is I've got 6 points for driving a motorbike without a licence or insurance! Bad year let me tell you! When my bans over I'll settle for ANY type of motor vehicle, as long as I can get my kids about. So my questions are: - What car would you recommend I get to keep insurance down? -
Lots of cool retro cars on tv these days 14 Apr 2017 (Forum)
Of course there was 'Luther' with Idris Elba, who was driving a volvo 240 in the first series, though i think that changed to a 740 or 940 in later series. I also seem to remember a Jensen Intercepter turning up at some point! (possibly an early 7 series BMW too, or did i imagine that?!). -
Volkswagen Golf, Skoda Fabia, Volvo V40 - Cheap Motorway Car? 5 Sep 2016 (Forum)
So I've been driving a Skoda Fabia 1.9SDI for the last year, it's been pretty good - AMAZING mpg (can easily get 80 on the motorway if you're careful) but probably the slowest car I've ever driven, to the point of feeling unsafe.
