  • What to look for: 22 Nov 2002 (Forum)
I'm assuming they will think the cars they sell like this are OK or they wouldn't be trying to sell them. Should I discount automatics? Diesels at under a grand. Worth a look? -- These are my own opinions, and not necessarily those of all Toads.
  • Trailers and insurance 3 Dec 2001 (Forum)
Must they be 'disclosed'to your insurance co. or are they by virtue of being coupled classed as automatically underthe car insurance? I don't want to run any risks which might ultimately prove uninsured withthe potential for horrendous costs. Yes , the answer might lie in the policy doc. or by ringing my co, but would still like some hard facts.
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee 15 Nov 2001 (Forum)
I will be looking at either a late shape(1999 onwards) 4.7L V8 or possibly an earlier 4.0L straight six. I need something capable of towing a car & trailer, with an automatic gearbox and some reasonable luxury. A few years ago I would not have considered buying a vehicle such as this but due to the state of the roads, increasing numbers speed bumps, a bad back and a dodgy left leg I am not left with many alternatives.
  • BMW Z3 15 Aug 2001 (Forum)
I have a Z3 3.0 and I damaged a sill ,so I went to BMW and ordered a new sill they checked carefully that is was the correct side etc. When it arrived I took it in its box to the paint shop and painted it ,then to the car only to find that the sill was not correct it was for a 1.8-1.9 roadster. The 2.8-3.0,3.2. have different sills and wings due to the wider track .To BMWs due they are changing the sill and painting and fitting at their expense .The chassis number alone does not tell whether it has small or large engine and the parts computor does not automatically flag the various options much to the dismay of the parts man. • Nissan Sunny 1.4i Auto mpg 16 May 2001 (Forum)
Does anybody have personal experience of urban mpg with a Nissan Sunny 1.4i Automatic, 'L' reg ? I have a customer who is dissapointed with his 27-30 mpg, despite all engine set-up and functions appearing to be 100% correct. Needless to say measurement has been done correctly, full tank to full tank, mileometer checked, and consistent over 5 or 6 tankfulls.
  • Space wagon 15 Mar 2001 (Forum)

I saw an aution house in Southampton that sells 2nd hand imports from japan. Is that cheaper and can i get parts for it in the uk. I live in N London. I would appreciate your help Simon
  • Peugeot 308 SW - Peugeot 308 SW Allure 2016 reg- Code P15B3 4 Jul 2025 (Forum)
I then tried to reset the code and it won't go. Does anyone know how to sort out this code? Should it automatically clear itself after filling it up? Or could there be other issues going on? Appreciate any help or advice.
  • Volvo XC70 - Am I mad? 11 May 2025 (Forum)
I’d be keeping my main car, as I cover a lot of miles annually, but I am tempted to spend up to £5k and buy an XC70. It would be D5, automatic. High mileage doesn’t worry me as I took my last car to over 220,000 miles. Am I mad to consider one, and what would you look out for if you were buying one? I usually buy based on condition and it is going to be a second, less used car.
  • Honda Jazz - No fault insurance claim 17 Mar 2025 (Forum)
Will she have to accept that? She’s not had it long and it was hard to find as it’s a small, low mileage automatic.
  • Dacia Duster - 2024 Dacia Duster 8 Mar 2024 (Forum)
They havent posted anyone driving one yet but the new design looks a step up. Maybe the NCAP rating will be better too. An automatic version as well as continued 4x4 versions. I'll look at one when they're in the showrooms. You have to ask yourself though .... would you look at something slightly less bargain basement and slightly dearer but knowing you'd get a couple of grand discount off it ... or go for the lower priced Duster with no discount  or haggling?
  • Any - Yet another road pricing scheme announced 2 Jan 2023 (Forum)
Drivers will be eligible for the payment if they agree not to drive alone but instead car sharing at peak times on those roads. Each solo journey avoided will result in a €2 payment. Automatic number plate recognition will be used on the affected roads to verify people’s claims" Perhaps blow-up dolls will begin to occupy the passenger seats :-)
  • Honda Jazz - Time for a change, maybe 30 Sep 2021 (Forum)
Something bigger, again a hatchback, with as close as possible to Jazz-like reliability, a bit more oomph under the bonnet and a non-codger image to dissuade the tailgaters.  Preferably petrol and automatic so the Trouble and Strife can drive it. Budget about 8k, possibly more. Suggestions welcome, thanks.
  • Volkswagen Polo IV 2006/7 - Auto Gearbox any good? 12 Aug 2021 (Forum)
My usual commute is around 1 mile local road, 40 miles motorway and 10 miles A road.  Would the Polo automatic box be suited to that type of driving?

  • Ford Focus Manual - Bad Ankle and Manual Car 18 Jan 2020 (Forum)
I have suffered an ankle injury which is not going to improve on my left foot so using the clutch is very painful. I can't afford to change to an automatic.  Are there any mechanical devices that would allow me to control the clutch with my hand, I am thinking along the lines of a camera cable release but more robust of course.  Alternatively if anyone can point me to a reputable company that fits these sort of devices that would be helpful.
  • Economical auto advice 17 Jan 2020 (Forum)
Budget just about tretches to a 2013, but again doesnt seem that economical for my miles as the older auto models only come in a 1.8 from what i can see. Any recommendations for an economical automatic with the safety and reliability of those mentioned? Budget is £5,500 - 6,500 Thank you
  • Seat Alhambra - Parking sensors, rear view camera 9 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Good morning I have as Seat Alhambra I-tec which has been repaired due to a minor accident, despite a decent looking job the parking sensors and rear view camera no longer appear to work. They are supposed to activate automatically when reversing but no longer do so, my guess being as the sensors have not been re-attached. A thumb through the handbook says use the switch on the centre console, but no joy from trying this ??

  • Vauxhall Zafira - Zafira 1.8 - X reg, 157,000 miles, urgent opinions 8 Nov 2018 (Forum)
I test drove a Zafira Automatic today, it seemed to drive ok.  It is high mileage (157K) and 1.8 - is it worth the £600 asking price or are my future months/years with it bound to be full of repair bills? The engine has a warning light on saying low oil - the salesman checked oil and said it was low - but maybe this was caused by a leak?
