to be decided... - What car to replace loyal SAAB 9-3 18 Apr 2015 (Forum)
We have a 18 year old saab 9-3 which we have had since nearly new. At some stage it will need to be replaced but we are struggling to decide what to buy. We have 2 young children to accommodate, do ~6k miles a year including a couple of trips to France to visit grandparents, my preference is for petrol. -
Ford Focus Estate - Focus 2014 vs V50 2011 3 Sep 2014 (Forum)
Hi, My little old Ford Fiesta needs an unworthy and costly visit to the garage, so now the time-to-buy a new car has come. I have two medium-sized dogs and have no choice but to use the car to commute 25 km till my job, so the choice narrows to a nice state. -
Peugeot 407 SW 2L diesel HDi Auto - pollution warning light 20 Jan 2014 (Forum)
Had to fit new brake pads as they were very low and due soon anyway. So far the 407 has been fine- fast enough, smooth and comfortable. I have had the car for 6 months and it is now nearly 4 years old. I plan on keeping it for about 4-5 years, assuming it behaves itself. -
Vauxhall Vectra C - buying a >3 litre car... scouring autotrader 10 Dec 2013 (Forum)
Current Volvo is a bit too asthmatic for towing the caravan, so my cunning plan has been to do an autotrader search for a petrol engined car, 3.0 to 3.9 litre, up to 10 years old, max price £5000. As you will be aware the site narrows the range of manufacturers for you. Mercedes - overpaying for the badge. Ditto BMW. -
Hyundai I 20 - Hyundai I 20 21 Nov 2013 (Forum)
However, the I 20 carries on the good work of the Getz with the same warranty and masses of kit for reasonable money, but one I had as a courtesy car this summer and it seemed far more modern and better made than the Getz, in fact nearly on par with a Volkswagen. Also even in 1.2 litre form it was quiet and returned 48 mpg. I have nearly been swayed by Dacia, see another post, but seemingly for all they are excellent value for money, the technology is old and it's likely to make up for the price of such a cheap car, I could get a poor trade in. -

Nissan Micra K12 - Service Advisory 10 Nov 2012 (Forum)
The car drives perfectly with no noises and to my surprise (and pleasure) the bushes weere not mentioned this time, how does that work, are Nissans self healing? The car past its MOT with no issues at all but on the service sheet it states the 2 rear tyres are illegal and need replacing. -
FIAT Punto Evo - Remote key fob battery only lasting 3 weeks 24 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Car is 8 months old. After 6 months of ownership the key fob battery needed replacing. Now the batteries (CR2032) are only lasting 2-3 weeks before they discharge. I'm using Panasonics, not Poundland ones. -
Pegeot 307 5 Dr AC 110HDI - New Car - which one Pug 307, has got to go... 10 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Looked at Audi A3 but they are probably just out side our budget and seen used with 70K miles for £10K. Don't want new but around 1-2 years old budget around £9K, might push it to £10. Thanks in advance -
Odd letter from police 13 Apr 2010 (Forum)
The car was on my driveway all day that day. I have askedMID and the records show a Honda Civic SE with that number plate (well - if old bill think it is mine I am entilited to ask - surely?). DVLA phone lines are all busy and there is no return or correspondence address on the police letter. -
The Koreans have landed 28 Jan 2010 (Forum)
And HJ's review of the revised Santa Fe shows a very impressive SUV for not a lot of money. It doesn't even have the farcical plastic-wood of the old model, and it's performance/emissions stats are really rather good. Be afraid, Euro/Jap manufacturers. Be very afraid. (except for sports and saloon cars - the image troops will take a lot longer to be convinced!) -
SAAB 9-3 Convertible (2003 - ) - Clutch failure claim under warranty 15 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Am also slightly worried that they will come back and say Saab will contribute, say, 50% as I will still not be happy with a £700 bill on a 10 month old car. Any advice or experience of this matter would be much appreciated. Thanks, Mark .Y. -
Hyundai i10 (2008 - ) - Grounds for rejection 6 Sep 2009 (Forum)
I bought a brand new i10 on the 1 September. Since buying it we have noticed that the car occasionally the appears to be ?Dropping out? of 4th gear. It has been doing this since the first day of delivery, although on the first couple of days we put it down to not being accustomed to the new car. -

Which car to carry big dog and have street cred ? 25 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I was wondering if any one had any advice? I currently drive a vauxhall zafira which is almost 3 years old. I bought it as I have a huge dog and she travels in her cage with me most of the time. I wanted to be higher up, but didnt want the running costs of a 4x4. Although the zafira has been ok, it is quite low spec with a smaller engine and I feel it doesnt have any umph. -
Mercedes Benz - What did they do with the stock? 25 Jul 2008 (Forum)
ve been alarmed at the damage to the brand which might be caused by such an obvious statement of declining car values. Would they have implemented a disposal programme to palm cars to the traditional chosen few in order that the unaware may continue to enjoy the opportunity to pay top dollar for these rare and highly sought after motor cars? -
Volkswagen Polo (1981 - 1991) - 1982 1050cc Carburettor problems? 23 Jul 2008 (Forum)
When somebody turns the key, you feel a suction on the palm of your hand, then i remove it quickly and the car starts...usually takes 2-3 tries. If the car has been runing within the last 8 hours, it starts without any problems. Im wondering...whats the problem, and what should be replaced? What model carburettor is in the car? -

Worst jobs to do on cars 2 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Can't get to them from underneath because of very limited access. Had to make up an extra long tool by welding a 10mm spanner to an old screwdriver then bending it to get correct shape. Then one has to hope the nuts aren't seized or rounded off... Anyone had bad repair experiences? Spanner
