And £1,400 very low for an 88k mile 99G imported Nissan 300ZX Turbo Targa automatic with cloth interior that would make a fine project car for ‘Pimp my Ride’. An 8k mile 2005/54 Volvo S40 2.0DSE with leather sold for £14,300, while top bid for an 11k mile S40 2.5 T5 SE manual was £14,600.

  Vauxhall Vectra II Specs Announced 13 Feb 2002 (News)
  2,171cc chain-driven twin-cam diesel developing 92kW (125ps) at 4,000rpm with 280Nm (207 lb ft) torque at 1,500 rpm. 0-60 of the manual is quoted at 10.5 seconds, top speed 129mph, Euro combined mpg 43.5 and CO2 emissions 176g/km (£150pa VED). This engine meets Euro 3 emissions limits. (Automatic 0-60 11.5 seconds, top speed 126mph, Euro combined mpg 38.2 and CO2 emissions 200g/km (£160pa VED).) Brief details of the V6 (not in my press pack) are:- 3,175cc, 208bhp, 300Nm torque, 0-60 in 7.5 seconds, top speed 154mph.

  Ex-Rental Ford Auction Prices Still Strong 7 Feb 2002 (News)
  Focus prices remain high, with the Y reg cars I saw selling for between £7,100, for the Citrus Gold 16,000 mile 1.6LX with a/c in the photo to a high £8,800 for a 14,000 mile Sapphire Blue 1.6 Zetec automatic with a/c. In between, 1.8s were selling at a £200 premium on 1.6s, and manual Zetecs in the right colour for as much as a £1,300 premium on LXs. Not many bids on Mondeos were being accepted in public.

  In contrast, a very smart 74,000 mile 98R C240 Sport auto sold for just £10,350. And an 8,000 mile SLK 3.2 automatic in a nice metallic blue hit the wall at £27,800, £4,700 shy of list. There's no premium SLK 3.2s any more, but it should make a bit more in a Top Car sale. As reported this time last month, the big stuff continues to bomb.

  .  Throw in smart metallic blue paint, black leather and premium wood trim, along with automatic transmission, and you have a truly excellent choice of modern classic.   The “RV” registration plate also suggests that the car was first registered to BMW’s Head Office in Bracknell, so chances are it’s an ex-press or fleet demonstrator.

  Something else for Ford fans, this 1962 Canadian Ford Galaxie Sunliner is RHD, making it a bit easier to drive on Britain's crowded roads. Under the hood sits Ford's 353 V8 and a 3-speed automatic transmission with shifter on the tree leaving the front bench seat completely clear. It comes with 30 years of MoT certificates, including a current one and is estiamted at £12,000 - £16,000.

  Barn find Aston to go under the hammer 10 May 2016 (News)
  Finished in mink bronze with red Connolly leather interior, the specification included a Motorola radio, Borg Warner automatic gearbox, power-assisted steering, fog and spot lamps, and air conditioning. In regular use up until 1986, it was rolled into the barn with just 30,565 miles on. Essentially complete, it is one of 787 produced.

  Ford unveils Europe-ready Edge SUV 15 Sep 2015 (News)
  The Edge will get the same technology as other current Ford models, including Sync 2 infotainment and active safety gadgets. Collision mitigating brakes, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and automatic parking are all on the cards. Final specification details will be announced nearer the on-sale date. Aside from the new Edge, Ford is to introduce a revised Kuga and a revised Ecosport in 2016.

  Unregistered Ford Cortina for sale at £25,000 1 Jun 2015 (News)
  Most enthusiasts dream of finding a ‘brand new’ unregistered example of their favourite car tucked away somewhere – but for MkI Cortina fans it’s now reality thanks to this 1964 four-door 1500 Deluxe, complete with automatic transmission. On the market via Cambridge Smart Cars, this unrestored Cortina has never been registered for road use and to date has covered just 58 ‘delivery’ miles. Produced in May ’64, the Cortina was delivered to a Ford dealership in St Albans, Hertfordshire, and was purchased by a private customer who never took delivery.

  Rare Mercedes convertible could sell for £250,000 4 Nov 2014 (News)
  A rare 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet could fetch up to £250,000 at auction this month. The right-hand drive automatic Merc, one of just 68 made, will go under the hammer at Silverstone Auctions’ NEC classic motor show sale on Saturday, 15 November. Hugely desirable, the soft-top has a 3.5-litre V8 under the bonnet and was the fastest and most expensive Mercedes convertible at the time.

  The manual transmission will provide numerous advantages over the normal EV setup of an automatic gearbox. First of all it is more involving for the driver, which is important in a sports car. Secondly, it will allow shorter gear ratios to improve acceleration, and finally, keeping the motor in its ‘sweet spot’ by changing gear at the right time should improve the range.
