• Volvo XC90 (2002 - ) - D5 - 163bhp or 185bhp 20 Jul 2008 (Forum)
  I am about to purchase a Volvo XC90 (D5), but i dont want the earlier 163BHP engine as i am told it is a little too slow and has no pull. How do I know whether I have the newer, more powerful engine or not before I buy? having not driven them before, I have no idea what to compare against on the test drive.

  So far - as got a family and a dog so for practicallity, and safety looking at Saab 95 Estate or Volvo v70 - both will have at that money 90K on the clock of there abouts Both will either be brought privatley or through Auction. Now, will be wanting to buy a Third Party Warranty, at least 12 months, but have never bought one of these before and was wondering who does the best deal.

  Then no amount of deceleration / acceleartion will make the needle budge, even switching off while standing at traffic lights doesn't cure. It does cure itself after 10 minutes say. Has anyone seen this symptom on any Volvo or other car? Thanks for any help Stokie

  I was at a car lot today, and noticed that they have a v. nice volvo S40 sitting there for £2495. My car is a 1998 Astra(newer shape) R Reg 1.6 CD 16v with 104000 on the clock The volvo is 1999 T reg, leather int, climate control, cruise control.... the works... only drawback is it has done 127000 (ex fleet car, FVSH up to 97000) I can have the volvo for my car plus £200 what do you guys think?

  I was waiting for my mum in the car before and saw a Volvo V50 drive in. I'd never seen one in the flesh before so I sat up to get a better look. As it drove towards me I thought how nice the front looked; a little menacing but nice then I saw the sides and back.

  Does anyone have any top tips regarding when the timing belt should be changed, what would be a good interval for oil changes (mainly urban use, with the odd blast up & down the full length of the M1), which oil to use, etc etc. I tried the Volvo Owners' Club website but it wasn't very helpful. Many thanks in advance.

  Firstly we had Volvo driving lights ~ another good safety feature from this safety-concious company. Then we had motorcyclists using dipped headlights. Presumably the riders were trying to tell us that their machine was as safe as a Volvo.

  Volvo main dealer identified problem as water ingress leading to it shorting out. New unit required: £430 fitted. The seller is now refusing to pay for it, only offering to cover the £180 it would cost for a USED unit, fitted by them, a 2.5 hour drive each way.

I was informed that it was just like placing an order with my local dealer with no risk. I received confirmation that my order had been placed with Volvo and I should expect delivery some 12-13 weeks later.

  Volvo dealer said it needs a new speedo head (only one will fit my car so cannot get a used one) at a cost of £800.00 + fitting which is more than the cars probably worth. I found a USA site for buffs that had come across this problem with a Volvo and sorted it by taking the speedo out and soldering all the joints on the pannel which solved the problem.

  No particular reason for the sale apart from the fact I like to change cars just prior to them ending the manufacturers warranty. I'm a little unsure on what to buy next and considering the following: Volvo V90, V60, another Superb estate, Passat Estate (GT or R-Line) The new car must have a panoramic roof (like the previous 2 cars). Never owned a Volvo before so I visited the nearest dealer and drove a V60 Momentum Pro.

  Found on the internet: "Volvo C30 Changes February 2008 Volvo has just announced that prices have dropped for the C30 and the model range has been simplified. Production has ceased for C30 2.4i engine variants and Volvo has also done away with the C30 S specification models, which had been the entry into the range.
