Focus C-Max: good buy? 3 Apr 2005 (Forum)
I'm attracted by the low prices of the C-Max on the Ford Direct web site - under £13k for a 9-month old 2.0tdci ghia for example (nearly £19k list). They look good cars - is there a catch, beyond the obvious depreciation that Fords/Vauxhalls always suffer? Recent forum threads have suggested that many modern diesels are very complicated if things go wrong, so, putting aside on-going mpg claims and disppointments, is the 1.8 petrol a decent engine instead? -
Vauxhall Corsa 96 1.4i engine fault lamp 30 Mar 2005 (Forum)
The code reads 28 which is 'Fuel pump relay contact problem.' I went to the dealer and picked up a new relay, and replaced the old one. The fault light went away, but I experienced slightly jerky deceleration and cruising around 2k/rpm. New spark plugs, oil change, injector cleaner, the car improves, until this evening and the fault code 28 returns. -
Vauxhall Warranty Cover 3 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Interested if anyone has experience of what is and isn't covered by Vauxhall's "Customer Option" 2nd and 3rd year warranty. My wife's Meriva (02 reg) has delveloped a water leak at about 14 months old, resulting in a spare wheel well(!) full of water and mouldy boot floor trim. The water is coming from somewhere in the upperpart of the car. The dealer says that the bodywork is not covered by the 2nd & 3rd year, and that we "Should have read the small print". -

Vectra spongy brakes 17 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Hi, I have a new shape vectra, coming up to 2 years old with 45k. Both front and rear pads have been changed and now the brakes are very spongy with excess pedal travel. If the pedal is pumped the travel decreases and bites nearer the top of the pedal movement. -
Blackpool illuminations. 19 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Driving back from London earlier tonight in a lovely E240 Elegance my colleague remarked the old cliche 'the dash looks like Blackpool illuminations' and i'd have to agree. It felt very surreal and expensive with virtually everything lit up from the air vent thumbwheels to the steering wheel controls. -
insurance jobby 18 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Basically our crash (none of our fault) has meant we have lost the services of a trusty old banger and are now obliged to ewnter the market to spend more money which we weren't planning on doing. harumph -
Mondeo TDi. No power 1 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Neighbour has a '96 Mondeo 1.8TDi. Not exactly the jewel in Ford's crown, but it serves as transport. The car smokes like a goodun. I loaded it up with Millers Diesel Power Plus and took it for a blast today, running up and down through the gears to 4200rpm to give it a bit of a decoke but it still smells like a 10 year old transit. -
Power Steering on M Reg Astra 8 Jul 2004 (Forum)

Audi Climate control 17 Jun 2004 (Forum)

Nova cooling fan 15 Apr 2004 (Forum)
This I've done but the fan still doesn't work. I tried the test on the new switch and it is the same result as the old one, so is this one faulty as well or has Haynes got it wrong? -
Exhaust Emissions light on Astra 18 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I have a two-year old Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Estate with factory-fitted LPG conversion. Since mid-October the "Exhaust Emissions" light (engine symbol) has regularly been illuminated, sometimes flashing when I accelerate. -
Oil pressure warning- Laguna 1.6 16v 20 Nov 2003 (Forum)
(sigh) This will teach me for driving her car for the day.... The digital display on Mrs NDs Laguna is showing an oil warning on starting the engine ( OIL- - - - - - ). This stays flashing for about 30 seconds after starting. On quizzing Mrs ND was informed \"it always does that\". -
fiesta mk 4/mk 5 18 Nov 2003 (Forum)
I was told by a Ford dealer that i have one of the last fiesta mk4's(face lifted version-focus style lights/smiley grill), the car was built in november 99 and i understand the new shape fiesta mk5 was sold from november 99 onwards. Does anyone know when the mk4b actually finished production as i keep seing mk4b's on a 51 and 02 plates, this is a bit confusing and quite the opposite to what i have been told by my ford dealer, did ford make the mk4b and the mk5 side by side for a while of would these mk4b's be somewhat old stock ? -
fuel additives and warranties 3 Sep 2003 (Forum)
Hi, I've got a 2 and a bit year old Corsa which seemed to be mis-firing under acceleration. I thought it might just be that the injection system was grubby so I put some injection cleaning additive into the fuel. It didn't make things any better and the problem has gradually deteriorated to the point where I've taken it to my local Vauxhall garage, the car being under warranty. -
Peugeot 406 HDi clutch..... 19 Aug 2003 (Forum)
(surprising, as the car has only done 36k). The clutch is NOT slipping. There is also a very slight clutch judder at take up (only really noticeable when in reverse) - is this another clue? Any comments would be most welcome... -
Cruise Control 30 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Just returned from a touring holiday with my 72 year old father in his Peugeot 806 with cruise control. He thinks it is a great idea but personally it worried me sick! I sat in the passenger seat and realised that he was totally "addicted" to it, to such an extent he was using it on a single track road with passing places! -
What had I become? 9 Apr 2003 (Forum)
It was quiet and pretty comfertable. To my horror I realised I was also listening to Radio 2. I had become prematurely old (I'm 34). On arrival at the dealer displaying new car (120 miles away), I quickly signed on the line and drove away in an MG ZT, listening to Eminem on Radio 1. I have become a boy racer (alright, a mature boy racer with two child seats) and I love it. -
Mondeo TDCi engine noise.... 14 Feb 2003 (Forum)
When ticking over it sounds very "tappety". The noises are the same when the engine is hot or cold. Once the car is cruising at 70 mph there is hardly any noise at all and you can't tell it's a diesel. Are these noises the norm with this type of engine. Jacko. -
