  • Express Fit 26 Sep 2003 (Forum)
I do a reasonable amount of miles in my 406HDi (>20k pa), so I am conscious of the need to keep the car in good fettle by attending to its every need. Anyway, I have recently discovered Express Fit by Peugeot. I know that several people here recommend them as they are main dealer linked and cheap (doesn't happen often), and I've taken my car there three times now. First for a timing belt change (£120.00), second for an oil and filter change (£24.99) and today for a service.
  • 306TD Cambelt Change Cost 7 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Hi all, I know there's already a lot of information about cambelt changes on other threads, but the costs to change them seem to vary very considerably, and i was wondering what i should be paying for my 95M 306 D Turbo It's done 121000 miles and runs beautifully, but it was 63000 since it's last change, in '99 and i'd rather get done now than suffer a catastrophe before the scheduled 72000 interval. Thing is, Peugeot told me £380 (not a hope of me going there), and two independants, one of which has never done me wrong in the past, both offered me £250 plus. I've seen threads where changes have been done for sub-£100, but is my car a harder job than others?
  • Warranty claim 18 Jun 2003 (Forum)
A friend of mine bought a Peugeot 405 turbo diesel from a small car dealer almost 3 months ago. Having owned one before, he knew what performance to expect and had an independent investigation into what he thought was an underactive turbo.
  • 106 plastic bumper 3 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I have sourced a second hand bumper for my sons Peugeot 106, (the black plastic one i.e. not coloured)due to accident damage to the original one. It is in very good condition except for a very small area (about 4 ins x 2 ins)that has got some silver spray paint on.
  • 306 Air Con 17 Jun 2002 (Forum)
This time last year air con gave up the ghost due to leaking pipes to and from the compressor ( common 306 problem! ). When I eventully got the pipes from Peugeot summer was nearly over. Pipes fitted and re gassed. Worked beautifully. Have run system every week as recommended. Now have noticed that there is a gushing sound from behind the dash. Compressor is kicking in but system is not getting cold.
  • Speed humps revelation 30 Apr 2002 (Forum)
I was rear ended recently and have spent a week in a Peugeot 307 hiremobile. The pug does not notice speed humps, cushions or raised pedestrian crossings. What an eye-opener. I've been driving with a stiff suspension setup for several years and have to be inch-perfect to straddle cushions, or the thump is spine-jarring.
  • Insurance Post Code Lottery. 22 Feb 2002 (Forum)
But, because I have a London postcode my insurance is very expensive. My friend lives in Essex. He is 28, drives an X reg Peugeot 306 Cabriolet. He drives to work on the other side of the Thames in South London. Where his car is parked in a side street of a not particularly nice area. 75% of his driving is in and through London.
  • Pug 306 Brake problems 14 Sep 2001 (Forum)
I have a 99T Peugeot 306 meridian which has done a little over 31K. For the last thousand miles or so, when driving the car on a slight bend (under 1/8 steering wheel turn to the left) I am getting a whistling sound from what appears to be the brakes.
  • Jim'll Fix It 19 Jul 2001 (Forum)
The wiper assembly complete has to be removed to replace the drivers' side pollen filter, all of the lower dash has to be removed to replace the sealed, PLASTIC clutch master cylinder and the cam belt took over 7 hours to replace AND I had to make a special tool to undo the auxiliary belt tensioner to expose a belt cover bolt. Please Mr Renault and Mr Peugeot too, please spare a thought for us mechanics out there who have to service your product. Please fix it for me Jim. Love from Andrew (age 43)
  • Peugeot 205 record? 1 Nov 2000 (Forum)
A happy motoring tale with a happy ending. After a little over 284,000 miles, we've decided to 'let go' of our red Peugeot 205GLD. We bought her new in September 1989 and she's never missed a beat since. When she first arrived we lived by the edge of the sea at Cullen on the shores of the Moray Firth in North East Scotland.
  • Personal buying habits 22 Nov 2023 (Forum)
I have always tried some gentle haggling when buying without part-ex, and usually come away with some cheap freebies like touch-up or carpet mats. Since then all purchases have been of aging Peugeots from private sellers.
  • Civic, Focus, Astra - Advice on car to handle commuting to new job 15 Jan 2014 (Forum)
So the question is, is something like a Civic, with it's reputed reliability and appealing character, or the somewhat more dull but equally well respected Focus, actually worth the age/mileage hit versus an Astra/Kia/Citroen/Peugeot for the same budget?

Why does something that is not particularly useful and (in Mrs F's case would probably never be called upon)  create such a scary scenario when it fails?   Yesterday when trundling along in her 2019 Peugeot 2008 at her usual cautious pace the dashboard suddenly launched into an alarming son et lumiere with beeps, red warning lights and STOP THE CAR.....take to a garage  messages!   Cue for rescue mission in trusty TR7.
