  • Most comfortable modern car . . ? 24 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Realise this topic crops up for debate every few months, and the conclusion is usually a Renault or Peugeot from the 1980s, but what's the most comfortable car made within the last decade? Comfortable meaning quiet, good seats, good primary and secondary ride and so on. There are aspects of many cars that fit the bill, such as the seats in an S60, the primary ride of a 7-Series and secondary ride of the new Superb, the library like quiet of a Phaeton etc.
  • What's in a name? 21 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Sure, the Model T Ford was called the Tin Lizzy or the Flivver, but that was a model, not a marque. I could only think of the Subaru 'Scooby' and the Peugeot 'Pug'. I know I don't read Max Power and the like, but what others are there?
  • Mazda Mazda 2 (2003 - 2007) - 07 1.4 Erratic Running 2 Jun 2009 (Forum)
My car is fitted with the 1.4 Peugeot / Ford TDCi diesel engine. The car has been great until now. The problem I am having is when I am driving the engine suddenly loses power briefly and then it picks up just as quickly again. My very helpful local Mazda dealer diagnosed defective 'boost valve'.
  • Mexican-built Beetle - 5-speed gearbox? 7 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Alternatively, any other five-speed gearbox suggestions? FYI, this one has been linked up with the 1.5 diesel engine out of a Peugeot 106, which is mounted at the rear of the trike. -- andymc Vroom, vroom - mmm, doughnuts ...
  • Blinking Indicators linked to Alarm 27 Sep 2008 (Forum)
When i engage the alarm the indicators flash twice. Other manufacturers have a similar setup. Apart from the french cars i have seen. Refering to Peugeot and Citroen. When the owner opens or locks the car the indicators flash as if its gone bonkers. Must be more than 10 flashes. Wont be suprised if you can set your ignition timing using the strobe affect of the indicators.
  • 2005 VW Golf Tdi S to 2008 Suzuki SX4 1.6DiiS? 6 Sep 2008 (Forum)
The local Renault dealer is bringing the car round tomorrow so I need some advice: Is the SX4 with the Peugeot 1.6HDi engine a good car? Is it safe and if so how much should we we be aiming to change for? Thanks
  • Sat Nav Questions and Answers - Vol 5 [Read only] 23 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Hello all. I am trying to find out without much success from Peugeot the answer to a couple of questions about the RT4 satnav system fitted to my 407. The manual doesn't help at all and the dealers know even less so if anyone knows the answer to these questions I would be very grateful :- 1.)
  • Need an 8 seater 18 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I have heard that I should avoid an estima from a few people who've owned them and have had the head gasket go. I've also been told to avoid the Fiat Ulysse, though the Peugeot and the Citroen versions should be OK if a diesel with an HDi engine. That's the sum total of what I have been told. Does anyone have any comments to help me make a decision? Thanks, Ness.
  • FIAT Ulysse (1995 - 2002) - Does welding a door shut cause an MoT problem ? 10 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Would a welded shut door be grounds for failure? If so, why, as there are I believe new models of, I think Peugeot?, which only have three doors, as built? -- Roger. (Costa del Sol, España) s
  • 99 /00 W 306 HDi Rear Calipers 1 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Anyone know where to buy Peugeot 306 HDI calipers (rear) for a 2000 w reg (107k) at a good price. Got quotes of £62.50 +vat each from GSF. The hand brake has always been poor does not hold the car properly, and the both calipers are binding.
  • Save my 306 from Arson!!! 27 May 2007 (Forum)
Wondered if anyone could help and offer a suggestion as I'm really at my wits end and drawing blanks! My 95 306 xsi 8v dies two weeks after I got it....and no-one can fix it! Peugeot charged me £110 to say they didn't know, two other garages don't know...my mate works for the RAC and has replaced the lambda sensor and cat and still not happening! It's running badly and just will not go past 3000rpm...where the engine tone dips then struggles....
  • Worst excuse from a mfr/dealer/tech 17 May 2007 (Forum)
The computer was still showing a range of 20 miles, and when I added a gallon of diesel, the thing went haywire, went into a sulk in ECO mode and then died completely. It ended up having to be recovered to the local Peugeot dealer. They called me the next day, and I quote "We've been working on it all day, and managed to get around it for you this time, but if you run it out of fuel again, it'll definitely need a new ECU" Eh?
  • Helpful Main Dealer - Shock 5 Dec 2006 (Forum)
The Peugeot barely turned over on the starter and wouldn't start yesterday morning. The logical thing to do was to think about the battery and maybe charge it up. Before anything else I knew that one day I'd need the radio code if and when the battery was disconnected and unfortunately I didn't get it when I bought the car.
  • Car discovered to be accident damaged 24 Nov 2006 (Forum)
My neighbour tried to trade in her car the other day, and the dealer told her it had been in an accident some time, the front bumper did not fit properly, and that some of the paint work was different to the original. Car is a 52reg Peugeot 207CC. She has never had a service book, but this was not a problem until the car needed servicing recently when she remembered there had never been a book, hence no FSH. She bought the car from a local dealer about two years ago, and was very disappointed to find what she could now get for it.
  • 406 HDI Timing Belt 16 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Hi, I am looking for some help on the timing belt for a peugeot 406 hdi. I have just bought this car and as partof the deal the dealer said he would change the timing belt. Not trusting car sales men the first thing I did when I got the car home was to remove the timing belt cover and have a look.
  • Should I consider buying this this car? 11 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Not a big deal really but opinions would be good. I am thinking about privatly buying an Audi A3 TDI (90) Y reg to replace my Peugeot 306 HDI meridian of which i have been quite happy wiht good fuel consunption and good handling. I have fancied an A3 for some time but the problem with this one is that this one has 129k on the clock, my current car has 116K.
  • Pug 306 Aircon failed 29 Sep 2006 (Forum)
This sounds like an expensive repair - he is going to give me a quote - probably several hundred pounds as all the dash has to come out and part only available from Peugeot. We are planning to replace the car soon, and my question is whether there is any point in spending this sort of money on a car which is to be sold soon. I am not sure what drop in sale price to expect should the aircon be not working?
  • Four year old Octavia 4X4: OK? 24 Aug 2006 (Forum)
And what should my friend look for or ask about, apart from recalls and so forth? The car is listed at £6.7K, and his knackered but road-legal and fairly well-maintained Peugeot 309, virtually worthless now, is available for PE if the dealer will take it. He is going to see the car tomorrow so quick response would be helpful if anyone has anything to say.
  • C2 or not C2? Also stereos as well. 16 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Would you recommend this as a first car, or if not could you recommend any others? I have also been looking at the new Clio and Peugeot 207 with interest but fear these may be a bit too expensive insurance wise as the Citroen does have free insurance for a year thrown in. Also, does anyone know where i can get a stereo for my car that's similar to an ipod?
  • 406 V6 coil (again) 24 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Puegeot 406 V6 year 2001 100k miles The coil on cylinder 3 has failed two miles into a hundred mile trip. Fortunately I was right outside a Peugeot dealer and they?re fixing it now. In the service history, it was recalled to have all six coils replaced, coil 5 was replaced three months ago in Gdansk. I know it?s only a ten minute job once the right faulty coil has been diagnosed, would I be able to do it myself in future if I carried a couple of spares?
