No faults show up on the cars computer listings. So far Peugeot have carried out an ECU and gearbox update and next are to fit a new petrol pump. I have been without the car for 7 days which include an aborted trip to Calais and the courtesy car they tell me does not cover me in France.

  • Jaguar X-Type - Is Warranty still valid 12 Jul 2010 (Forum)
I bought a used Jaguar X type just under 3 months ago and I was given a 3 month warranty with it. The Clutch on the car has now failed which is covered by the warranty however the garage are saying that they cannot do the work under warranty because the car has done more than 3000 miles since I bought it. The warranty schedule that I was given and signed says '3 months from the date of sale shown in this schedule or 3000 miles from the mileage shown in this schedule' The date of sale has been written on the schedule and it is less than 3 months since I bought the car, however the mileage that the car had done when I bought the car has not written on the schedule.
  • Volkswagen Beetle (1998 - ) - do I need to disconnect battery whilst charging ? 30 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Can't say I've ever disconnected the battery from the car before? Presumably this would result in the ECU resetting itself, needing to dig out the code for the radio etc. Is it really necessary to disconnect the battery from the car, or is this just the manufacturer trying to cover their backs?
  • MINI MINI One D R50 (2003 - 2007) - Buying an ex - driving instructor's car 7 Aug 2008 (Forum)
It is 06 reg and has done 65k miles (averaging more than 30k a year). The sales person assured me that the car is in pristine condition with any worn parts all replaced and they will be giving the 12 months warranty and MOT cover under the MINI cherished scheme. My question is that should I stay away from this car seeing that it must be treated harshly by the learner drivers (Or is this a misconception)?
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - HDi: Help - knocking sound from cold 11 Sep 2007 (Forum)
The car has done 50 000 miles or so and as far as we know, has not had the cambelt changed. My fear is that the garage will be uncertain and we'll be faced with the choice of either taking the car and worrying about it, or taking the "other" car, with all the hassle of changing the ferry booking/breakdown cover etc etc.
  • Car insurance - your opinions sought 15 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Do you stick with the same company year after year or always look for the best deal? What is most important to you - lowest price or level of cover? What would be the best way of buying car insurance in your opinion? Any suggestions appreciated! Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.
  • Firework damage to car - neigbour to pa? 19 Jan 2006 (Forum)
This is going to have to be repaired, and on her 18mth old metallic black car, it aint going to be cheap. There's no doubt in my mind that the damage was caused by a rocket, several of which landed amongst our cars after a neighbours Nov 5th party. I still have the offending items and they fit the dent perfectly, and explain why the paint in the dent is undamaged (although a surprising dent from a cardboard tube).
