Vauxhall Zafira - problams with 'Drive Vauxhall' 22 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Just exchanged our Puegot Estate for the above with Bury St Edmunds branch of Drive Vauxhall. The information they gave us has proved to be inaccurate in terms of the actual mileage, previous owner? Since they MOT'd the vehicle it has done 7000 miles in six (6) weeks? Anyone had similar experience with this group? -
Nissan Micra - Broken Exhaust bolt 20 Sep 2013 (Forum)
I only have one bolt at the moment connecting the two together instead of the two bolts. I haven't driven the car yet but was just wondering would driving the car damage the Catalytic Converter ? I don't plan on driving it too much, just down to the dealers to order a new bolt and then to drive down to collect it. Where I live there is no local transport to where the dealers is. -
vw golf mk 6 - dsg 9 Jan 2013 (Forum)
I used to drive a diesel DSG and this never happened. Is this normal? Driving normally the DSG is in 7th gear at below these speeds. Rod -
What did you learn to drive in? 26 Jul 2011 (Forum)
There is accompanying Youtube footage. Apparently a genuine learner. I learnt to drive firstly in a 1.0L Corsa and then a 1.4L Jazz (in which I passed my test), with some practise in between lessons in a 1.6L Focus. I'm sure it's true for many that a 5L 458 would be quite a handful to learn in. -
1.2L SXI+ Corsa - Learner Insurance? 24 Mar 2010 (Forum)
I'm looking to be insured on my family members SXI+ Corsa until my test in 3 weeks, I found a quote from Collingwood Learners insurance and they quoted me £96 for 28 days insurance on the car. My question is, if I pay that, am I then legally allowed to drive the vehicle accompanied by someone who has been driving for 5 years who is 22 years of age? If not, what other processes must I complete to be able to drive the vehicle? Thanks, I really appreciate it. -
What's the oldest driving school car you've seen? 17 Dec 2009 (Forum)
I spotted a V reg Corsa the other day and thought it was quite old for a learner school vehicle. I guess there is no reason why a driving school can't operate a fleet of bangers if they wanted providing they are safe and practical but I am curious to know how long a car used by many different people can keep going. Have you seen anything older? -
Infiniti G37 Coupe Cabrio (2009 - ) - Test-driving this tomorrow... 15 Sep 2009 (Forum)
http://www.ridelust.com/wp-content/uploads/infiniti_g37_hard_top2.jpg I really wanna see that sun shine!... ...so, after last month's extended E350 Coupé drive already under my belt and with the A5 Sportback brochure arriving yesterday morning (the timing of HJ's recent road-test much appreciated) I feel I'm finally getting close to making a decision? I'll probably just settle for another Octavia at the end of all this stuff & nonsense mind... -
MINI MINI Cooper and S R56 (2007 - ) - Drive the Deal 21 Aug 2009 (Forum)
My daughter is hankering after a new Mini Cooper Graphite which is a limited edition model. Being dad, it's up to me to try and find the best price so first port of call was Drive the Deal. Fell at the first hurdle as they don't appear to offer prices on Minis or BMW for that matter. Is this a case of BMW dealers not wanting to offer deals on their cars and Minis ? Can anyone offer advise as to where we might obtain the best deal ? -
Driving in Australia 25 May 2009 (Forum)
My sister is going for a 'year out' there in July, mainly travelling and hopefully a bit of work when the mood takes her. She asked me the other day if she could drive on her UK license and I honestly couldnt say - anyone know the rules and regs on the use of UK licenses? Also if she does take to the road, anything significant to be aware of in comparison to UK roads? -
Driving licence expired? 7 Oct 2008 (Forum)
She has suddenly noticed that her licence is two years past its renewal date, no reminder having been sent. DVLA are "looking into it". My view is that by continuing to drive she is committing an offence and invalidating the insurance. She maintains that as it's not her fault the licence remains valid until DVLA send the renewal and doctor's forms. Anyone know the legal position? -
What's that car Audrey hepburn drives.... 19 Apr 2008 (Forum)
....in the film HOW TO STEAL A MILLION. The film is 1966, and Peter O'Toole drives a yellow E-Type. Audrey Hepburn has a tiny 2-seat cabriolet in red. It's really tiny, and I thought it might be something by Vignale on a Fiat 600 (it's definitely not a Gamine). It might be something by Glas (Goggomobil) but I've searched my Observers Books and my Sedgewick & Gillies and I can't find the beast. -
How fast do you drive on motorways? 10 Jul 2007 (Forum)
I regularly see cars in lane 3 zipping along at between 90 and 100 mph, and was wondering if any of them get stopped or if the police turn a blind eye to these sort of speeds? How fast do you drive on the motorway? For reference, if the road is clear I tend to sit at 80 on the speedo, but often have cars whizzing past going well above that. It's a new car so I haven't had a chance to compare the speed with what the TomTom says. -
Vatican's 'driving commandments' 20 Jun 2007 (Forum)
'Thou shalt not kill' makes an understandable appearance in the Pope's top ten rules for the road, as well as advice to avoid road rage. Apparently it's OK to pray while driving as well - and this from a man who never gets driven around by his wife... Only kidding ;-) Any views on this long-overdue intervention from On High, or have they forgotten anything? -
Opel Kadetts? 19 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Seemed very odd for new left hand drive cars to be transported around the country. Wouldn't GM be making their left hand drive cars at their continental plants? -
I want a fuller full beam 30 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Driving along lonely Highland roads at night, I often feel that full beam (on my Berlingo) is not full enough. I would like to be able to see further along the road, as well as a wider area beside the road, so that night driving was more like day driving. -
Road pricing - pay as you drive 10 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Are motorists in Norfolk for example now to be the subjects of a pilot scheme to be given exemption from road tax? How will that work if they drive outside the test area? Or is the whole idea simply a way of raising even more money, without any intention of it being an alternative to conventional pricing? -
Drink driving limit review 15 Sep 2006 (Forum)
The drink driving limit is in the news as the government has turned down a suggestion of a lower limit for under 21s. That might be a slightly strange suggestion. However, I think the law needs tightening. Currently if you are over the 80 mg limit, that is a serious motoring offence and you get a 1 year ban, yet if you are just under the limit no offence has been committed. -

Limit teenage driving ?? 2 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Read an interesting article on A-express website, basically says that 1 in 4 deaths caused by dangerous driving are the fault of the under 20's & the safety body "BRAKE" wants to introduce certain limits on this age group. h**p://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/57161/teen_clampdown_call.html Personally think that with the ever increasingly powerful cars available these days certain limitations are probably a good idea, although I also think that anyone buying a "very high performance" car should have to take some type of "speed awareness" course, not just under 20's.
