  • 2002 406 HDi Cold Start 18 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Morning All, My 2002 Peugeot 406HDi has an intermittent ?feature? upon starting the engine. If it is really cold outside and the car hasn?t been used for more than a few hours, the engine feels as though it?s about to pop out of the bonnet!
  • Dead 306 any ideas? 5 Jan 2007 (Forum)
The garage suggested that I call the local council (Hammersmith and Fulham) who will take it away for free, however the cheapskate in me feels I should be able to get something for it! The car is a 1998 S reg Peugeot 306 1.4L 3 door in white (I know its not the most desirable of models!) with 70,000 on the clock. Its my first time posting but have read for a while so hopefully someone will be able to help. Thanks
  • BP Ultimate Diesel in Pug 18 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Guys, just wondering if any of you has ever tried and found any difference in performance, economy or quieteness of engine by filling up the tank with BP's Ultimate diesel in Peugeot diesel engines. I used to have Polo diesel and it definitely used to work because car used to run more smoothly, quietly and pick up used to improve. I've just bought a 106 1.5 diesel and put it in the other day but I think it'll take me sometime before I find the difference by filing up the tank with a normal diesel and then Ultimate diesel couple of times.
  • Damaged piantwork/rubber seals 31 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Hi I was looking for an almost new car for my wife and have seen a one year old Peugeot 307. On close inspection (first noticed on the glass front and rear there is white 'bloom' that covers it. If you then feel the paint surfaces on the panels they feel rough. Also the rubber window seals are hard and rough due to possible overspray when stored.
  • "Which" reliability report 8 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Excellent: Ford / Honda / Hyundai / Lexus / Mazda / Suzuki / Toyota Good: Daihatsu / Kia / Mitsubishi / Nissan / Proton / Subaru Average: Chrysler / Daewoo / Jaguar / Jeep / Mini / Porsche / Skoda / Smart / Vauxhall Poor: Alfa Romeo / Audi / BMW / Citroen / Fiat / Mercedes Benz / Peugeot / Renault / Saab / Seat / Volvo / VW Oh how the mighty have fallen! _____ A few anomalies, the RX8 and C-Max suffered an above average % of Breakdown's where most Volvos, Vauxhalls and VWs were OK regarding breakdowns though clearly suffered in respect of Faults and Niggles, to use the "Which" terminology. _____
  • 405 N/S Steering boot replacement 1 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Hi, Has anyone had to replace this part on a 405 with power steering. Checking the Haynes manual, they don't cover it they just say that it should be done by a Peugeot dealer because the boot can't be gotten over the power ram stud and so the rack has to come out. So will a 'Bailcast' boot strech over this or is there such thing as a split boot for steering racks?
  • It's not worth that is it? 12 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Would anyone pay £1,700 for an R registration, ex-police, white Peugeot 306 1.4 LX with 100k on the clock? It doesn't sound like the worst example of its breed but that's surely a lot of money for a car with a fairly questionable history. A friend of mine is very seriously interested in this car - even though there's a Xsara diesel, newer, from a dealer with a proper warranty and some haggle room, for less.
  • Rover 25 td 8 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I am the new owner of an X plate 23k mile Rover 25 TD. Previous cars have been Peugeot 306 non-turbo diesel's. Is it me or are 25 TD's slow on acceleration? On pressing the accelerator, not a lot happens until the revs eventually pick up. Very slow on take-away for 2-3 seconds then quicker.
  • Auction price im out of touch lately 25 Feb 2004 (Forum)
I used to go to Blackbushe a fair bit but not for a couple of years now so if I can pick anyones brain for a few guidline prices Ok im after 2 cars peugeot 406 automatic diesel W or X reg saloon not too fussed about the trim level also can be fairly high mileage and the other is a choice of 2 either a ford focus h/b or a vw golf (the facelifted version) so about an s reg for the golf and also s or t for the focus.
  • Unchanged cars 31 Aug 2003 (Forum)
However, it made me think, what is the earliest Swift registration with the same shape - I am sure I have seen P regs? Also, what is the longest a current car in production has gone without a change? Peugeot 206 goes back to S reg, any thoughts?? Incidentally, I thought the older Swifts looked nicer than the current ones with their huge black plastic bumpers!
  • Cruise Control 30 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Just returned from a touring holiday with my 72 year old father in his Peugeot 806 with cruise control. He thinks it is a great idea but personally it worried me sick! I sat in the passenger seat and realised that he was totally "addicted" to it, to such an extent he was using it on a single track road with passing places!
  • turbodiesels and fuel economy 20 May 2003 (Forum)
Hello, Does anybody have real life experience of the average difference in mpg and performance between Peugeot HDI turbo diesels and VW/Audi PDI turbo diesels. How do Japanese turbo diesels compare in terms of fuel economy and reliability(toyota/ Nissan). How reliable is the turbo? What is the average engine life expectancy of the engine ?
  • Cars on TV 9 May 2003 (Forum)
Just been watching one of the numerous house programmes on TV(Channel 4's Selling Houses) and noticed the camera lingering for rather a long time on the Peugeot 607 driven by the presenter. If you watch Location, Location, Location you'll see them do the same with a Volvo XC90. Not really bothered about a debate about the pros and cons of soft marketing, but it got me thinking once again about the long, chequered relationship between cars and TV.
  • Convertible mechanism hood repair 25 Apr 2003 (Forum)
However fitting it is the problem. Once again I would prefer a professional did the job rather than Peugeot. I don't think they would know what they were doing + I dont trust them to do it right! Cheers
  • Young man about town.... 27 Feb 2003 (Forum)
I had been considering the Fabia but following the ridicule I got just for even mentioning it (I am 24 BTW) notwithstanding all its apparent qualities I am inclined to go for something else now. Have been seriously considering the Peugeot 206 2.0 HDi D-Turbo. Any thoughts on this or any other "lad about town" type car would be very welcome.
  • Cash for Pug help please 21 Jan 2003 (Forum)
My employer's policy is to sell the cars for readies to a local dealer, consequently the cash offered is usually quite low (and in my interest!) The car is a June 99 'early facelift' Peugeot 406 estate, 1.8L (base model) petrol, aircon, abs, fsh, 70K miles, not had a cambelt change, been used for towing caravan since new, original clutch OK but bearing squeals occasionally, interior and exterior pretty good.
  • 6 or 7 seater 11 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Galaxy/Sharan/Alhambra) and am looking at the Volvo 850/V70 (Yes I'm turning into my Dad!!) with 2 seats in the boot, or the Peugeot 406 with 2 in the boot. Is the Volvo worth the extra money (or higher mileage at the same price)? Are there any alternatives? (I like the Omega estate for value for money and size - but is there a 7 seat version, perhaps there is an after-market conversion available?)
  • Was this a decent deal? 18 Nov 2002 (Forum)

It was up at £7995 and we chopped in her M reg Peugeot 306 (54,000 miles, few dents etc)...we ended up paying £6,295 plus her car. Bought from a Nissan main dealers. Anyone got any comments as to whether we got a decent deal? thanks.
  • Autobox Life 29 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Folks, I am considering a Citroen XM estate 2.1 Diesel auto to replace my Peugeot 405 GRD 1.9 which is in it's twilight years at 250K. As with many XM issues, opinions are polarised regarding the life of the box. With proper ATF changes and decent oil, what is: 1/ The life of a normal auto box on most cars?
  • Secondhand Pug 24 Aug 2002 (Forum)
If you were in an auction for a mechanically very fit 1994 (M) Peugeot 306 SR 1.8 Sedan with certified 15k miles, rust free bodywork that just needs a good polish, and mint interior with everything working, what would you bid, please? I have the chance to buy this very car, which according to Parkers tops at about £2200-£2300, but due to the amount of interest it has generated, the owner (read executor of estate) has decided to do a sealed bids auction.
