  • What's the spiritual successor to the classic 911? 5 Jun 2014 (Ask HJ)
About 18 years ago I bought an early Porsche 911 as a fun daily driver - now it feels too valuable for that role. What is today's equivalent? I want...

  • Which one. Subaru Legacy, Skoda Superb, or Signum? 23 Dec 2009 (Forum)
I think it will do little more than 5,000 miles a year. I want something a little bit more individual. Our Mazda 323 was mainstream but relatively rare as was the Saab (when I first bought it). Therefore no Ford Mundaneo's. The three cars I am looking at are a Subaru Legacy (2.0), Skoda Suberb (1.8T) and Vauxhall Signum (2.2 Direct petrol).
  • Hire car companies and damage to vehicles 1 Jul 2008 (Forum)
A colleague and I hired a car to take us to Heathrow Airport last week. Received a rather jaded Mazda 5, with 18,000 miles on the clock and plenty of scuffs, dents and chips to show for them. I looked the car over and checked the damage sheet supplied by the company, and all seemed to be in order.
  • Second car choice - made complicated! 6 Apr 2004 (Forum)
From the list of approved cars - http://www.britax.co.uk/isofix/isofix_vcg_2.htm - I have identified the following as possibilities (the Bentley Continental being just outside the budget) based largely on my own prejudices (I don't want another Octavia for example) and spending time on here : Nissan Almera or Primera Seat Leon, another Ibiza (we wouldn't be getting rid of it if we'd bought a 5 door to start with), Cordoba Vario (few and far between). Mazda 323 Can anyone see anything else from the Britax list which might meet the critera ? 1. I don't want to have to use the additional tether that is required with some cars (we'd only end up losing it) 2.

  • Should I replace my runflats with normal tyres? 25 Mar 2024 (Ask HJ)

  • Can I buy a hybrid even if I don't use it during the winter? 31 Jul 2023 (Ask HJ)

  • All the car you need? 7 Feb 2022 (Forum)
Ford Mondeo 1.8 LX Mk I 5dr - Perfect in almost every way at the time. Ford Focus 1.6 LX 5dr Mk I - Brilliant handling yet reliable, comfortable and cheap to run. Mazda 3 2.0 Sport - Great fun yet practical. Enough power yet no worse on fuel day to day than the 1.6 models. Honda Civic 2.0 Type S 5dr - All the practicality and reliability of this model of Civic but with Rev happy 158bhp motor and firmed (but not too firm) up handling.
