  • Diesel/Petrol - Remappers ??? 30 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Anyone had any experience of a Company known as "Shires Performance Tunning" or as "SP-Tunning", remapping Diesel and Petrol ECU's.
  • CORSA SXI TWINPORT 2010 - ECU ISSUE 22 Apr 2017 (Forum)
I took it back and it failed again, I took it back to the same garage and after two weeks they told me that "it's an ECU fault and it fails on 4 control points". They haven't done anything with my car after a month so I took it off them tonight and managed to get it home without it faulting. Any advice about what it could be or where I could take it in Manchester I'd be massively grateful.
  • Ford Fiesta 1997 - 1.25 -Fuel cut? 2 Sep 2014 (Forum)
The car has bad fuel economy, around 25mpg (US). The car is totally stock regarding the engine and ECU. I do a lot of tuning on aftermarket ECUs like Megasquirt, Motec, Link G4+ etc so I know a thing or two. I thought that the engine is not getting into fuel cut because the transition from open to closed throttle is really smooth and the car is not losing a lot of speed.
  • Vauxhall - Vivaro 02 1.9 100ps ECU light speedo problems 12 Jul 2014 (Forum)
i have booked the van for a tech2 fault test this week, but was wondering if any of you guys could give me some advice before the dealer starts saying it needs a new ecu etc. would it be worth buying a odb2 disc,i am not sure if it will work with a 2002 vivaro though? or i have seen the tech2 readers/software for sale. any advice would be great! thanks Subject line brought up o date.
  • Vauxhall Zafira 1993 petrol - Engine emissions light - very poor performance 4 Sep 2011 (Forum)
ECU still showing same fault light.  Original garage said unlikely to be cat. converter as car had just passed MOT and emissions were very low.  Have read so many stories about people spending hundreds of pounds getting various parts 'fixed' that don't turn out to be the actual problem causing the light to come on the ECU.
  • Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - 96 1.1 Running Rich 6 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I know that the Lambda senses the oxygen content of the exhaust gases and the ECU adjusts accordingly but what I would like to know is what it (ecu) adjusts and could this be the fault. Incidently, I have a code reader but this doesn't find any faults and the engine light doesn't come on.
  • Citroen Saxo (1997 - 2003) - 1.4 Immobiliser problem 24 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Problems with my Saxo 1.4 furio Basically i got in my car one morning to start the car & the immobiliser light kept flashing (coil light) when i turned the key and the engine wont start. Garages wont touch my car as they said the immobiliser problems lays within my ECU as they come standard with immobilisers, although i have a toad alarm. Took the car down to Citroen and they charged me £40 to diagnose the car. They told me the codes for the ECU, CDI unit and the key fob all match up n they suspect the problems lies within the toad alarm.
  • Renault Megane (1996 - 1998) - 98 1.6 RT Over-revving and misfiring 18 Jul 2008 (Forum)
If you turn the steering full lock the revs decrease instead of increase. we took out and cleaned the ecu connections as they had a bit of corrosion, and, lo, the car ran perfect for about 4 weeks. Then out of the blue it started again. Cleaning didn't help this time, nor did changing the ecu plug (huge re-wiring job!)
  • Citroen Xsara (1997 - 2004) - 2002 2.0HDi - Dead Remote Locking 5 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Both myself and Citroen have been through the key-reset procedure to no avail. it looks as though the car has turned the remote facility off completely. I feel that it is a software problem somewhere. Cirtoen say that it MAY be an aerial or an ECU problem., and have quoted me around £150 for the ECU and a further £100 for fitting. It seems to me that £250 is a very high price to pay for something that may not solve the problem. and that it cannot the "the ECU" as I would expect the Engine Control unit to be about £300.
  • Golf Mk3 Dead - Help!!!! 21 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Unfortunately this didn't cure the problem so they took it to a specialist who put it on two diagnosis machines both of which showed no power coming out of the ECU. After looking at several sites it appears that there is a long running problem with the ECU power supply relay. Ah Ha I thought replace that and Bob's your uncle! Nope - still dead. Does this mean I am looking at a new ECU?
  • '99 Vectra 2.0 DTI blown fuse, ECU? 3 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Haynes is next to useless regarding this, can anyone tell me what the correct rating is for these two fuses and what they control. looking at the wiring diagram the best i can work out is that they control the ECU, borne out by the fact that the Engine management light does not come on when ignition switched on and fuse is blown (ok when fuse ok) I am guessing i have a bit of dodgy wiring to trace but any other ideas appreciated.
  • Astra ECU questions 23 May 2003 (Forum)
Any ideas on this, like why the oil had like vanished as there are no leaks and then like fuel not getting through correctly? Plus of course I realise that the settings of the ECU have probably defaulted so some suggestions there too. Thanks in advance Michael
  • MG TF - 1.8 k series kit car , HELP! 22 Apr 2020 (Forum)
My kit car broke down some time ago. I was driving from one electrician to another to fix it and now it's finally starting with a new ECU.  Unfortunately, I'm not sure if its the right one. Electrician claims it's from 1.8l but it behaves like it's from 1.6.  How can i check exact model or engine version which that ECU came from?
  • Peugeot 108 - ECU remap companies any recommendations 28 Oct 2018 (Forum)
I would like to get rid of the initial "slight hesitation" when moving away from stand still. I know they all do this and I have got used to giving it...
  • Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer - Thermostat Faulty? 23 Feb 2017 (Forum)
A quick Google suggested the thermostat may be the culprit. My local garage suggested a fan control ECU needed replacing but I was not sure if their diagnostic kit could tell the differnce between the thermostat or ECU fault. I am considering taking the car to Vauxhall for diagniostic checks but in the meantime I checked the resistance across the terminals on the thermostat.
  • Volvo V50 - Garage Cannot fix Car 1 Sep 2015 (Forum)
Just trying to see where I stand Put a Volvo V50 in to be remapped and now they cannot get the car to go. The garage have told me that it had been in a  front end crash and the ECU was hanging loose behind the wing, i was unaware of this at the time. When the car went in it was running fine. Instead of ringing me to inform me that the car was damaged they went ahead and tried to reprogramme the ecu, now the car wont start, the garage have now sent the car to Volvo who have quoted £2500 to repair.
  • Ford Focus II, 1.6Tdci, 2005 - Ford Focus overcooling 31 Dec 2013 (Forum)
I checked the top hose of the radiator and this stays cold for a while indicating that the thermostat is closed to start with and then opens. As far as I am aware, ECU, thermostat or AC pressure switch control operation of the fan. The local Ford dealer said that a re-program of the ECU could cure it, so I will give that a try. Any other ideas? Thanks
  • Peugeot 407 coupe - Snow damage 20 Feb 2013 (Forum)
In that time the melting snow managed to leak into the boot through the back of the rear light cluster.  The water gathered in the spare wheel well and other recesses in the boot where various ECUs are placed. I'm trying to dry out the ECUs rather than replace.  It seems that the Peugeot 407 has a reputation for leaky rear light clusters often showing tell tale condensation inside them.
  • Honda Civic Type R - Civic type r 2003 misfire and cutting out 12 Dec 2012 (Forum)
Hi, my civic type r 2003 vetec was not kicking in then it did parked car up and in the morning started it but cut out after 5-10seconds and had a miss fire on cylinder 2, I have changed the cam and crank sensors cleaned all the earths replaced ecu checked the timing and still the same, swapped injectors around still the same and coils, would this miss fire cause the ecu to shut the engine down? I have also done a compression test and all is good only fault code was misfire detected in cylinder 2.
  • Vauxhall Cavalier (1988 - 1995) - 94 2.0 Odd starting problem 14 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Hi Guys, It's been a while since I've been on here, but now I have an odd problem that no one else seems to have any ideas on. I've got the vehicle above and quite simply, it won't start. Spark is good, but the ECU isn't chucking in any fuel. No injector clicking, nout. However...if you pour a bit of fuel into the intake to get it started, suddenly the ECU wakes up and starts fuelling keeping it running. Stop and restart it's absolutely fine.
