Cadillac CTS - I bought a 2006 Cadillac CTS one year ago and... 21 Jul 2010 (Forum)
averaging about 23 mpg, but it gets hit hard around town - a decent run achieves high 20's to average it out. It 's very easy to drive quickly but also slowly at say 50 mph on the motorway. This is because there is no apparent difference in interior noise at 30 mph or 70 mph - a great motorway cruiser and easy to drive. -
vauxhall astra F 1.4 - Car seems to be running hot 21 Jun 2010 (Forum)

BMW 320D SPORT 2004 - BMW 320D SPORT-Noise when clutch is released 30 Apr 2010 (Forum)
When lifting the clutch up to the "Bite" it is most noticable and then when fully released you can still hear it but not as bad as when it is at the "bite" It has not caused any issues with driving etc and the car still drives perfect. Is this anything I should be worried about? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks Chris -
Nissan Micra (1992 - 2003) - 97 1.0 I have a problem with my automatic gearbox 21 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Hi Everyone, I need some advice about my R reg Automatic 1.0 micra. I only got it on Sunday. It was fine on the test drive. I have been driving it everyday since I got it, only 4-5 miles a day. I have now noticed that when I slow down and brake or when I am sitting in traffic. The car is making a funny noise and shakes a bit like the noise a car manual car makes just before it's about to stall. -
Honda Jazz/Fit (2001 - 2008) - Stiff steering 17 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Hi - I have just taken delivery of a new base model Jazz (01 -08 model) and am very surprised how stiff and heavy the steering feels. The stiffness is most noticable at normal driving speeds - the steering will not self centre after turning and requires quite firm correction. I have read that the steering is normaly considered to be light. I took a test drive in a same spec vehicle yesterday and found it to be the same! -
Am I insured to collect wife's new car? 31 Jan 2010 (Forum)
I have bought my wife another car which I am due to collect on Monday. We both have policies that allow us to drive 'any vehicle not belonging to us etc etc'. Does this mean that I can legally drive the car home even if the former owner has cancelled her insurance on the car so there is no actual insurance for the vehicle? -
Vauxhall Corsa B (1993 - 2000) - some advice please!! 18 Nov 2009 (Forum)

Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - 03 2.0 Moaning noise 16 Nov 2009 (Forum)
There is no evidence of heat generation in the hubs. I have temporarily exchanged wheels with a friend, but no difference. The drive shaft gaiters appear sound - there is a (very) small amount of play in the drive shafts, but this is equal both sides and I think is normal. I have a long European trip coming-up and don't want any nasty surprises. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 02 2.0 engine misfire 8 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Under acceleration the car seems fine but cruising at stated revs the misfire (ockering) develops if I push the revs upto around 2400 the hesitation goes away but as soon as you ease off it returns..the car also seems to be guzzling juice.. Running at slower speeds the problem doesnt seem to appear.. most of my driving is motorway driving so the problem is one i can done without.. thought train is heading towards injectors although someone has mentioned the turbo. so any help greatly appreciated.. cheers ADAM -
Haynes photo cars - what happens to them? 3 Nov 2009 (Forum)
What happens to these cars afterwards? Are they rebuilt and sold on as "normal" used cars? Could one or more of us be driving around in a car that has been reduced back to its component parts and reassembled since leaving the factory? What would such a car drive like, and what would be the implications for long term reliability? -
Just bought a used car - deceived by dealership. 29 Oct 2009 (Forum)
The invoice clearly states that the mileage of the car that they are selling to me is 13.5k miles. After I picked up the car and was driving home, I noticed that it actually had done 22k. Do I have any rights in this situation? Basically I think I have been deceived, and am not happy. I did take the car for a test drive, however I didn't inspect the mileage at the time. -
Renault Scenic (1999 - 2003) - 00 1.9 DCi - Nasty engine noise 26 Jul 2009 (Forum)
What I'm confused about is that it was perfect the night before and immediately horrible the next day. I have driven it and it drives as normal, no missing or poor performance, just a really loud clattering. Has anyone got any ideas please?? -
Passing on the wrong side of the road 29 May 2009 (Forum)
I had a driving experience this morning and would like other BR's opinions please. I was driving along a newly resurfaced road with a car in front of me, we then had to stop because in front of us was the yellow lorry that was repainting the road markings. -
new vosa powers 19 May 2009 (Forum)
Talking to my inside informant at vosa this week and he was telling me about the new powers vosa were given from the beginning of this month in relation to hgv"s, these consist of fixed penalty fines and points up to a maximum fine of 900 pounds, above this and it has to go to court Vosa are also allowed to make a british driving licence up for any foreign driver who obviously doesnt hold such a thing and vosa have access to full back up of fingerprint technology and all the facilities that the police use to confirm whether the driver they now stop should be driving if hes been caught before. -
FIAT - Petrol of Diesel 10 May 2009 (Forum)
Being that much cheaper to buy, I may be better off over a three/four year period going for the petrol. Any opinions on this would be gratefully recieved? I live in a rural area, drive mostly on clear A roads and rarely in City centres. I drive from Cumbria to South London maybe 6 times a year and to Glasgow area about the same, mostly on motorways. Annual mileage is perhaps 12k to 14k on average. -
Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 03 2.0 "Unblock Diesel Filter" 4 May 2009 (Forum)
Hi guys, I have a 03 reg 307 hdi 110 bhp (RHS) and have recenly had the ECU remapped to increase its performance (now 145bhp). the car has only done 46k, mostly urban driving, and has been regularly serviced (although not by peugeot). it has just given me the "Unblock Diesel Filter" warning and beep. I've read on here that there may be a couple ways to resolve this ie, take for a drive above 50mph for 5mins or if that don't work bite the bullet and get peugeot to change the filter. -
Nissan Almera (2000 - 2006) - Trip computer odd behaviour 16 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I came back from a recent trip and left the car on the drive while I unloaded it and opened the garage. The trip computer was on 'miles remaining' and showed 310. When I switched on again, it showed 359. I don't think anyone surreptitously added a few litres to the tank, but can anyone explain how it could happen? -
Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 02 2.0 anti pollution fault 31 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I have a Peugeot 307 Rapier HDI diesel estate - I keep getting the anti pollution fault come up and twice in the last week the car has gone into safe mode while I was driving - after switching the engine off for a few mins the fault clears and car drives normally - my local garage has put the car on the computer and 3 faults have come up: Fuel Pressure Coherance short circuit, Fuel Pressure signal short circuit and Diesel High Pressure Flow Regulator short circuit to ground - last year I had the same problem but needed to replace the Fuel Pressure Regulator - is this going to be a very expensive ongoing situation - please help {typo in header corrected} -
Volkswagen Golf III (1992 - 1997) - 96 2.8 vr6 - Hard to get into 1st gear 18 Feb 2009 (Forum)
i have a golf vr6 which i am finding it hard to get or find 1st gear. i have to like try and put it in reverse push down on gearstick then as if going into reverse to get into 1st gear, drives fine but not good if goes into reverse by mistake? i drove the car and all seemed well, not sure if its a simple gearstick linkage problem or something else as the gearstick suddenly feels slack and you can move it around a bit ,drives fine in gear but 1st is a apain. -
Women and headlights 5 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Insurance statistics state women make for safer drivers, what they don't take into account is they might drive slowly but they are technically inept and don't understand the 'mechanics' of safe driving by putting on lights and using demisters properly (and learning to turn that fog light off the moment another car appears behind them).
