  • Ford focus heater 12 Oct 2004 (Forum)
A friend of mine owns a W-reg focus that gives her little trouble. However, this morning she recons that despite running the engine for approx 20mins, the heater only blew out cold air. I asked if there wwas any signs of water leakage, suspecting that there was a hole in the heater matrix, but there isnt any sign of a leak.
  • Car Clubs 22 Sep 2004 (Forum)
If it is a concept you are not aware of www.whizzgo.co.uk gives more info on the scheme currently running in Leeds (no comments about the fact you have to drive a Citroen C3 please!!). Would you ditch your car and join such a club, or is owing a vehicle preferable?
  • Curing streaking 28 Aug 2004 (Forum)
There appears to be a design flaw in the Yaris where rainwater runs down a few places on the body rather than draining off evenly. As mine is white, this leaves very noticable streaks and I was wondering if anyone can suggest a way to stop this happening. Even after waxing the car it still happens and while it does wipe off, it is a pain to have to do every few days during this lovely summer we are having at the moment...
  • VW VR6 Blue Smoke then shredded belt 26 Aug 2004 (Forum)
I was coming up a hill after a long run and noticed some blue smoke, after coming over the brow heard a horrible noise and the car stalls. Pulled over and had a look and the grooved altenator belt was in 1000 shreds. The car is being towed to a garage to be inspected tommorrow.
  • Hot Key Pug 12 Jul 2004 (Forum)
I recently rented a Pug 206 1.1 with aircon in the Algarve. I noticed that after 20 minutes of running or so if you turn the ignition off and remove the key the metal part is unexpectedly hot. Is there a design problem there somewhere and too much current id being handled by the ignition switch. Other than that if was a great wee motor and at £193 for a fortnight a good deal as well.
  • Nissan Micra timing retards 25 Jun 2004 (Forum)
It has been checked at a Nissan dealer, and two independent garages. The last one discovered that the ecu puts out spike waveforms when it is running normally. It then squares off the spikes for four waves and the timing retards. Everything checks out. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks, Bob
  • Piaggio Ape van? Stop laughing! 9 Jun 2004 (Forum)
I'm considering buying a Piaggio Ape van as a delivery van for a small florist's shop (the shop's small, not the florist...). Check out: http://www.reliantpartsworld.com/version_1.3_ape/van.htm Cheap to run, easy round town, good advertising tool etc. are the appealing bits. Don't need a proper van cause flowers ain't heavy! Very cheap secondhand. What do you think?

  • tyre rage 22 Apr 2004 (Forum)
It's a real row, especially I guess from low profile tyres. My question is: can modern tyres be designed to run quieter, or is it the fault of the materials used, as opposed to the tread pattern design?
  • Girl Triplets 11 Apr 2004 (Forum)
We need to aquire a people carrier (for obvious reasons) with enough room to carry 5 plus everything else to keep a small tribe running. The budget is £6,000, we've looked at Zafira's & the like but they cannot fit 3 baby seats, any advice would be most appreciated. Thankyou in advance.

  • Which car? 18 Feb 2004 (Forum)
I am in the process of looking for a replacement car and need your help! I have about £4-£6k to spend, but need something large (saloon or estate) which is cheap to run (as I average 25,000 miles a year). I have been thinking about either a diesel or LPG converted car, but would like some advice about what makes/models I should be looking at! Thanks, in advance, for your help!
  • Faulty Wipers 96 Escort 24 Jan 2004 (Forum)
96 Escort LX. In intermittent mode the wipers run constant rather than ... intermittently. When the stick is returned to off (from int. or from normal, or fast wipe) the blades just stop on screen and don't return to the rest position. What's the most likely problem here?
  • Leon's Ignition Timing 22 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I have been running my motor on 100% biodiesel for some time. Excellent stuff - recommend it. Someone told me that it would be an idea to wind the igintion timing back by about 2 degrees. Two questions - Is there merit in doing this - I know it would need to be advanced again if I were to revert to diesel.
  • Focus headlamps 10 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Hi everyone We have just acquired a 99 S Focus 1.8 LX 5 door and I have noticed some slight condensation on the inside of both headlamps. Its just a small patch on both and is on the sweep of the glass above the reflector where it runs back towards the windscreen. I have checked the seals, there is no lens damage so I was wondering has anyone any ideas as to whats causing it? Thanks in advance John

  • ZX Diesel Hot Starting 18 Aug 2003 (Forum)
My ZX starts first time every time from cold, no matter how cold. As it warms up it gets progressivly more difficult to start. After a 30 min run it will not restart for perhaps 2 or 3 hours. However, if I get it moving at walking pace it will bymp start easily. Tried all the usual diesel faults; air leaks, glows, fuel solenoid. Any advice??
