Is 6 Grand+5 y/o a car tipping point? 16 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I've worked out that I could save a 1000 pounds a year on fuel alone never mind lack of MOT's for two years and all new componentry that would be fitted. This fuel saving would pay for me to get that 4 years newer diesel car. I know that even a newish car needs maintenence and costs to run, and it seems like I made up my mind to get the newer car, but what I'd like to hear hear from you chaps is wether my logic works or I should just hang on with a car till its dead? -
Ford - faulty diesel injectors, hesitation on accelerating 18 Sep 2007 (Forum)
I am afraid that I appear to be another gullible Ford owner who appears to have fallen foul to Ford?s long running list of excuses to explain away the problemsd they encounter with their diesel injectors. Tales of ?water in your diesel? & ?a batch of cheap fuel? all sound too familiar having now researched this site. Having purchased a new DTCi Estate in May 2006 I was initially pleased with the car? -

Another option he's considering is a BMW 1 series - he's never been in one before - any opinions on these? Thanks in anticipation for any advice -
Time to choose another car 19 Oct 2023 (Forum)
My budget is in the £10k-£12k range though might go a bit higher for the perfect car. I'd be happy with another diesel, never had a problem with them, but would need to be Euro6 ULEZ compliant. Thanks in advance! -
Mitsubishi Shogun - Shogun 3.2 Di-D plumes of black smoke on tickover 19 May 2020 (Forum)
It embarrassed me by doing it whilst on the ramp for the last MOT and the guy refused to continue the test after it filled his workshop with acrid diesel fumes! He did hear the clunk though, as the bonnet was up, & he started looking around the nearside area of the engine bay as it sounded like it came from there. I initially thought turbo but that's on the offside and it does seem to be fuel burning rather than oil. -

2004 Toyota Corolla 2.0 D4D 116 - Corolla E12 D4D won't start when hot 23 Mar 2019 (Forum)
The auto electrician who worked on the car did not fix the problem, instead he modified the cooling system so the fan would work permanently. This first consequence was an unbelievable fuel consumption for a diesel ( 16 city 29 highway) .The difficulty starting the car appeared when he finally got the fan to work normally. The problem is that even now i noticed that the fan does not work perfectly well.
