Ford Focus Ghia 2002 - 1.8 tdci - Flashing Glow PluG Light 17 Sep 2014 (Forum)
Friday i took it back to the dealer to be sorted. They have said 'oh it was just the turbos were blocked so have put a diesel engine cleaner in the fuel and it has sorted it'. From reading the posts on here i doubt this would solve the issue or could it be as simple as this? I am due to pick the car up again tomorrow. -
Car for commuting 13 Jan 2012 (Forum)
One final point is I have to tow a light dinghy sometimes which is why I want to stay with diesel rather than petrol. Thanks in advance! -
Peugeot 406 HDi - Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI anti polution fault 5 Dec 2011 (Forum)
It often is, but not this time. The "fault" Is on and off like Jordan's relationships. At the same time, there's diesel dripping out of a fuel ine feeding into / out of, what I assume is (a 70mm x 40mmx 40mm oblong plastic case with a 2 pin connector) the pressure regulator solonoid, above the pressure rail (Bosch system), although no 'diesel experts' seem to recognise this discription, but one is going to look at it the leak problem in the next few days. -
Peugeot 406 Hd1 2.2 2002 filling the Eolys tank - Filling 406 HDI Eolys tank 5 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Done 62k miles and the dreaded "diesel fuel additive minimum level" message came up along with the particulate filter light on the top right hand side of the speedo dash. I bought some fluid off http://www.clickcarparts.co.uk/ for £112 for 4.5 ltrs and then had to find out where to put it! -
Land Rover Discovery (1989 - 1998) - 97 2.5 300 TDI starting problems after lift pump s 30 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Once it's running, all seems well. I'm tearing my hair out. The joints all look good, there's no sign of diesel anywhere, but it's a swine to start. It seems to drive perfectly OK, but just doesn't want to fire up. Interestingly, it doesn't seem to take any longer to fire up when you switch off and back on again, or leave the thing overnight. -
Landcruiser - 3.0TD or 3.4V6 21 Feb 2005 (Forum)
The premium for a diesel can be around 30% ! Given my relatively small annual mileage the extra fuel cost for the 3.4 V6 may not be that great, it's lower initial price and luxury spec are very tempting..... Any first hand experiences and general comments would be greatly appreciated. -
Considering a new car soon, Help! 12 Mar 2003 (Forum)
I would like a little more poke than my nova too, especially in the mid range. I am unsure whether to go for petrol or diesel, diesels seem more expensive when they go wrong etc and more service intervals which puts me off a bit. I would be prepared to pay upto £1600 or am i being unrealistic? I considering either an Astra 1.4 MPI or 1.7 TD or a Rover 200/400 1.4 16v or 1.8 TD. -
Replacement for a ZX turbo D? 13 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Any suggestions? I've had a Citroen ZX Volcane Turbo diesel for a few years. It's now done 200K, and for the first time I've had to put nearly half a litre of oil in between 6000 mile services. Fuel consumption is down to around 43 mpg, and it must be close to replacement time. -
Ford Mondeo - 2001 Mondeo 2.0tddi - various/related problems? 6 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Why else would there be metal filings on crank sensor? 3. Why the timing issue? 4. Could it be throttle sensor problem? 5, If fuel pump problem (have read quite a few threads on this and other forums) would injectors still be under pressure? 6. Problems with surging seem to be when turbo comes in, could it be fuel pump problem that is only evident when you the turbo starts pulling more fuel through? -
What's the point of the Hats?! 4 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Went to see a brand new car late one Friday afternoon. Specifically asked the dealer whether the diesel fuel pump was a certain brand - because I'd read some alarming reports about similar vehicles fitted with these particular pumps requiring replacement (at vast expense) usually just out of warranty. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 2004 TDCi - The old flashing glowplug problem... 5 Apr 2013 (Forum)
Again, turned off and on, and problem goes away. Meanwhile, one day notice a strong smell of raw diesel in the car. After a while this goes. Later have to take it in to get the windscreen washer pump replaced. the guy in the garage says "By the way, when we had the top of the engine off we noticed a lot of diesel laying on top of the engine. -
Skoda Yeti - EA189 Emissions Update - my experience 2 Apr 2018 (Forum)
I'd previously only been aware of occasional active regenerations, but following the update, these were occuring every few days. I cover ~20K miles yearly and tend to favour "branded" fuels (Esso / Shell), with the occasional tank of V-Power Nitro+, in an attempt to keep everything clean / ticking over. I'd assumed the worsening fuel economy was a direct consequence of the increased fuel injected to facilitate frequent active regeneration? -

Audi merc BMW porsche - A car to suit all needs 5 Mar 2011 (Forum)
The two car types we are tending towards are SUV or mid size bigger engined estate, so would someone care comment on the shortlist if they have any experience of the proposed choices we have ? Audi; fancy an rs6 but is the practicality/enjoyment totally negated by the huge fuel costs it would require? Alternative a q7, like the idea of 7 seats, but is it simply too large? The best engine choice is probably a diesel I'm thinking? Mercedes; again the choice between an e class (heart says e63- The last model had 7 seats?) -
Mitsubishi L200 pickups (2000 - 2006) - How to replace a pickup? 23 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Practical - must be able to take SWMBOs 3ft square art canvases, as well as the labrador and the weekly shop. Diesel / Petrol - don't mind, the L200 is no speed demon, and with a drop from 30 odd thousand to less than 8k in a year for all my driving, I doubt any money saved in fuel choice is going to be an attraction, although I do like the power delivery / lazy driving style of the diesel. -
