• Suzuki Baleno - Problems with new (used) car 29 Jan 2020 (Forum)
    This damage is outside the ‘fair wear and tear’ guidelines issued by Suzuki.  I don’t know why it wasn’t spotted by the dealer when the car was serviced just before I collected it.  Presumably that would have included the corrosion warranty bodywork check.   I feel that this is well beyond the normal chips and marks to be expected on a three year old car, and I am now minded to formally reject it.

  Hey guys - we have recently had a Emissions Fault come up - P2O8E reductant pressure low.  I started by topping up the car with 7 litres of AdBlue, until almost full, however this has done nothing.   I then realised that this had happened to us before when the car was under warranty, so borrowed a better code reader and looked at the data today compared to last time.

  I drive a big heavy diesel SUV - most of the time it suits my needs exactly - but my conscience is starting to get the better of me on short trips into town so I'm considering some form of electrified car just for the short trips. Although I'll make savings by using the SUV less I can't fund any sort of second vehicle on them so I know I'm going to spend more but to keep the cost down I'm looking at 2012 (ish) cars which are now out of their extended warranty so I'd like the Backroomer's views on the risks involved.

  I've never previously bought a used car from a main dealer (had plenty of new cars in my time though).  I'm looking at a 2011 VW Polo 1.4 at a main dealer.  Car has done 34,000 and is up at £7,000.  As a cash buyer do you think the dealer would be prepared to entertain a discount?

  Oh and don't expect a letter from Honda UK to say they have extended the warranty, you only get that in the US and Canada. Sorry for the rant!

  Any thoughts about batteries ?  The Varta has a 4 yr warranty, so does a replacement equivalent  Bosch (which is a bit dearer). I used Battery Megastore for the Yeti battery and they're 50 pence cheaper. Perhaps I should use them hving been OK with them last time.

  Hi, I have a mk5 VW Golf and the temperature is no where near as cold as it used to be when the air con is on. temperature reading from the centre vent has been measured at 16C. It is trying (ambient is about 25C today) but getting no where near as low as it used to be. Can anyone recommend a decent aircon leak specialist/regasser in the Manchester area (preferably mobile) for my car please?

  In April, bought a used new model aveo from a dealer for my old mate good price, 800 miles on clock few months old, so balance of 5 year warranty... After couple of weeks steering became very stiff, on advice from Mark Cox at chevrolet car taken into Evans Halshaw in St Albans, who thoroughly checked but found no fault.

  They have driven the car today and admit something is wrong,  but not sure what.  They say they need a couple of days to make enquiries. They gave me the car back. I really like the car,  it's immaculate and want to keep it.

  Hi, I bought a new car end of January with a three year warranty. Nearly two weeks ago the car just died and wouldn't start. The car was recovered to the local dealer. The dealer has been very good and has lent us a car.

  (To add to the frustration we have not been allowed a replacement car and no sign of any compensation yet; the warranty doesn't seem worth the paper it was written on and despite our complaints no effort has been made by Federauto or the dealer who sold us the car to do anything at all.

  I would like some advice on the following. Approximately 18 months ago I bought a second hand Vauxhall Astra. The car was a 2006 model and still had some manufacturers warranty on it. My car has run well from the day that I got it and I have been very happy with it, I have kept the car maintained to the highest standards although I have not used Vauxhall for any servicing.

A guide to used cars lists top speed, mpg,replacement cost of engines, (typically £50 to 70 for UK cars, but £540 for Mercedes!), gearboxes, tyres, brake parts etc. I used to buy the magazine regularly in those days, running old cars it was often helpful.

  Got viciously attacked by a stone on the m/way yesterday, leaving me with a large crack in my windscreen. Cars being what they are today, it's laminated ,heat reflecting glass with light and wiper sensors installed. The car is only two years old and I'd like to get it done through a Peugeot dealer, so there can be do arguments about honouring the warranty if problems arise.

  In 2010 i had a chip repaired by Autoglass but in 2011 the stuff they use to fill the chip had come away and the chip was back so was taken back to Autoglass for a repair agian under there warranty cover.... but now its happen again the stuff has come away and so i went to a Autoglass centre on Saturday and asked if they could look at it and if poss repair it again under the warranty but they said they would never repair a repair !!!

  hi i have a 130bhp TDI passat (2003)and i use the vw spec long life oil in it. out of interest who makes this oil? as soon as the car comes out of warranty then i dont want to be paying silly £13 odd a litre off vw. does anyone know the exact type of oil it really is and who makes it, or is it made especially for vw and is not available in any other form?
