Last minute bargaining chips - Nsar
I'm that close, that close I tell you, to buying a Legacy. Decent price offered, I don't think they'll go any lower so apart from a set of mats(!) and perhaps a full tank, is there anything else I can try and squeeze out of the deal? It's an approved used car so warranty is already sorted and I'm paying cash so a better finance rate isn't relevant.

Just push them for the usual mats and that sort of thing - fairly small cost to them but probably quite expensive for you to buy as accessories.

Get the accessory book and see what you fancy or see the accessories available at www.subaru.co.uk. Out of interest, what model, age etc? And how much was it up for and what have you got them to (if it's not too nosey of me).

Ask them to fit a set of ultrasonic reversing detectors and alarm. I can't reverse without them, and sometimes even with. Experience speaking !!

Get them to confirm the type of warranty you have - if it's "failure only" for example, then an intermittently faulty window switch won't be covered, or a speedo that only works part of the time. Check also if cover for consequential damage is included in the warranty as well.

If you have a partner take him/her along and act out a little scene whete they will not approve cos they want £50 or £1000 to spend on something. This is the hitch that spoils the deal..A salesman can always find £50 to do a deal in winter..

Last minute search of A/trader produced a Subaru approved 04 plate 2.5Se Legacy with 18k which I have bought for the same as the 53 plate with 25k I was being offered. Same spec.

They are throwing in a full tank and mats (what a cliche!)

Thanks for all the advice on this thread and the Subaru thread recently.
