mondeo holding back 9 Oct 2004 (Forum)
I have a mondeo on a P-reg 1996 24v and I have a problem with it. What is happening is that when driving along and only touching the throttle it feels like it is holding back then when I start to give it more throttle it almost starts to miss fire then all of a sudden it will clear it self and go, I have changed the plugs and leads but has done nothing I was told it could be the air flow meter but I tried that and still the same, I also tried injector cleaner as I thought it might help but it didnt although it has never got any worse I really need it sorted out as it just is not a smooth drive so any help would be great. -

Ferrari 348 10 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Hi All, I'm seriously tempted by a Ferrari 348. Has anyone had any experience of driving one? I was looking as the (obviously cheaper) Porsche 968, which actually has quite similar performance (apart from top speed obviously -- but who cares that it can only do 150 and not 180!!!) -
Ford Explorer automatic gearbox fault 31 Jul 2004 (Forum)
A Ford Explorer, that is may be 10 or so years old, has just had it's faulty automatic gearbox replaced with a brand new one. On a test drive it worked fine until the box got warmed up and then it stayed in drive and had to be braked to a halt juddering. Next day, it did the same again. The garage that fitted it talked of it needing a sensor and said they had taken it to a Ford garage to be sorted out "because it is a Ford part". -
Citroen C4. Lane warning system 17 Jul 2004 (Forum)
I hope it can be switched off. Imagine what would happen on a quiet road whenever you cross the line? For my driving, the vibrating mechanism in the seat would be broken in days! Still the car looks nice. -
BMW servicing 5 Jul 2004 (Forum)
A friend of mine has his 325 serviced for the first time. Car had been driving fine. When he collected the car the handbrake immediately felt funny - as if it had been adjusted. After a week the handbrake packed up altogether. Back to the dealer to get it fixed under warranty. -
Eyesight Dilemma 28 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Have been talking to an elderly (70 ish) person today who has admitted to me that he has cataracts on both eyes and that his vision is so impaired that he should not be driving. This is after writing off his car last month in a head on collision (fortunately no injuries) and has since hit his replacement vehicle twice, luckily no other car or person being involved. One can only question how many other motorists are driving around with similarly impaired vision and why compulsory eye inspections are not introduced for older drivers. -

Ford USA pays $200m to SUV owner 7 Jun 2004 (Forum)
http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,12389-1134277,00.html The report says the driver argued that the Explorer's design made it prone to rolling over during common evasive driving manoeuvres, but quotes Ford as saying that it's not fair, because "any SUV would have rolled over under similar circumstances". Note: not any car , just any SUV . Does this sort of vehicle need special driving techniques? -
head gasket - would you risk it? Pug 306 7 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Thing is I need to catch a flight from Stansted airport at 630 am tomorrow (sunday) morning and have no option other than to drive. All in this will be a 300 mile round trip. Would any of you still drive the car in this condition or am I risking causing permanent damage? the car\'s already done 135k. Thanks in advance for your replies. -

Rover Metro 114 auto 17 May 2004 (Forum)
Hi, I've got a L-reg rover meto 114 si auto which was passsed onto me by my grandmother who decided to quit driving. Its brilliant although a little heavy on the steering. It is my first car. Only problem is that it seems to have developed a problem with juddering! It seems that especially when it warms up, that when it comes to a stop (at traffic lights for example) the power to the wheels stops completely (while still in drive) and then with a touch on the accelerator its bites in really hard and the car jolts away. -
Change from car to motorbike 23 Feb 2004 (Forum)
I have been driving a car for many years, and although I have had a motorbike I have only ever ridden it when the weather is good. I want to save money on motoring and am considering the use of my 125cc motorbike as my main form of transport. -
Transmission Whine - Pug 309 Diesel. 13 Jan 2004 (Forum)
When driving on the straight a loud low pitch whining sound occures but not immediately. The sound is temporarily remedied by pulling up and turning the steering wheel on full lock. After doing that the sound dissappears for a while. -
Anarchy in the UK 12 Dec 2003 (Forum)
Given that: An estimated one million cars are on the road without tax, insurance, mot etc. Over one million people are being criminalised for speeding, Thousands are driving under the influence of drink, or drugs, Thousands of drivers need their eyes testing, Thousands are driving whilst on the phone, reading maps, snacking etc, Cars are being driven with no lights, one light, fog lights, blue lights, undercar lights, and xmas lights, Common sense and courtesy are rarely evident, Lane discipline is virtually non-existant and the motorways are jam-packed and have ruts. -
Go on, give it a try. 22 Oct 2003 (Forum)
t=16984 Now here's an idea: Let's be nice to EVERYONE we see on the road for the next 48 hours. Cyclist, Nova-driving boy racer, super-gran, truckbloke, even Rob the Bus. If we make a mistake, acknowledge it. If we get cut up, live with it; back off, no aggressive eye contact, no retaliatory gestures. We witness someone driving too fast; well perhaps if the word has spread enough, everyone will get out of their way, they will arrive safely, ahead of time and spend the next couple of weeks with a headache, trying to work out just how that happened. -
Panda oil pressure?? 28 Sep 2003 (Forum)
Starts as normal, after a few miles of normal running, oil warning light comes up. Pull over, switch off and wiat for a minute or so. Re-start, everything as normal, drive on a few miles, light comes up again. Engine well flushed, new 15w40 oil, new filter, new sender unit fitted, off for test drive. Goes further before oil light comes up but the problem is still there. -
Which car for my parents? 18 Sep 2003 (Forum)
THEY are both in their late 60s and looking for a quality car which is very reliable, economical, and easy to drive. They would prefer to drive diesel (and it would suit their journey profile) and they would benefit from an automatic. They won't contemplate any kind of adventurous choice, so there's no point suggesting it. -
Car Damaged During Servicing 13 Sep 2003 (Forum)
They have offered courtesy car over weekend, but I am off on holiday on Monday and a neighbour was going to drive my car back to my house for me. She wont be able to do that in their courtesy car. They have therefore offered to pick it up from my drive and have it back there when I return. Am I justified in asking them to re-activate the passenger airbag (baby old enough now) as compensation, given that they have no issues about making good the damage done?
