  • Honda CR-V - Head Room 25 Jan 2015 (Forum)
HJ suggested the Honda CR-V, when wanting to change up an earlier Honda the CR-V and latest Civic were tried and rejected as in both there was no headroom and even when test driving the latest Mazda 3 I was touching the roof, I am 6ft 1in which is not excessive these days. As cars increase in size with almost every relaunch it seems strange that a population that is also getting larger by the decade is not being catered for, or built in to the new designs.
  • Fiesta Zetec S Diesel - comments? 4 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Hello All, Long time no post, but I'm looking at perhaps leasing a Fiesta Zetec S TDCI for a very attaractive £122 + some vat with a £1k deposit and I wondered if there are any owners out there who have any comments? I note that HJ likes that engine in the Fiesta I've got a Mazda 2 ts2 petrol at the mo which is fun, but is noisy, has poor seats and gives about 33mpg at 85mph (much better at 70 but I get so bored) Can I expect the fiesta to give the holy grail of the same fun handling, comfort and 50mpg at 85?
  • Winter tyres for a Mazda6 18 Nov 2011 (Ask HJ)
Whiich winter tyres do you think would be most suitable for my Mazda6 2.2 diesel sport? Are they better on a 16 inch steel wheel as opposed to my 18 inch...
  • Hyundai i30 (2007 - ) - Is buying a white car a good deal 12 May 2009 (Forum)
I know everyone has their thoughts on white cars but I have been offered a geat deal on a white Hyundai I30 SE on a 58 2008 (against my new style 2007 Mazda 2 TS2 which really is to small) but want to know if colour does make much of a difference when PX time comes against say a red or blue (usually its 3 years for me)? Any thoughts on the Hyundai G3 protection its £249 which is a lot but my dealer says its brilliant protection for the car.
  • Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 1.6 Is the 1.6 tdci just as bad as 2.0 ? 18 May 2008 (Forum)
I'm aware that this engine is a joint deal with Peugeot. Not sure if the similar problems with the CR systems of the Mazda 6 engine are related. The 1.6 tdci engine as used in the Focus ( also Mini ? ) does not seem to get the same bad press. I'm aware the engine is quite different, although also Peugeot derived. Is it subject to the same potential problems, or does it have a better track record ?
  • E-sure renewal beaten by E-sure @ TescoCompare 5 Feb 2008 (Forum)
E-sure insures my 2 x cars + house & contents Renewal comes in @ £180 comp for the Mazda Xedos (Gp 16 car) that I have owned since almost new in 1999. Just nipped into TescoCompare website - Cheapest E-sure - same cover £40 less. The inmates seem to be running the "Premium Calculations" New customer off the street gets 18% less than an existing customer of 6 years (I was one of their 1st motor policy holders) - the renewal said NCB Discount 70% + 5% for being with them claim free for 6 years.
  • Honda Civic UK (2001 - 2005) - 01 No Beep Beep ! 25 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Any advice on what it could be and how easy it is to fix would be welcome. I have checked the fuses but there does not appear to be one for the horn ? I noticed a Mazda 6 owner has had the same problem in the last couple of weeks - A dodgy supply of Japanese Horns perhaps.............
  • Kia Pride - Screeching when accelerating 24 Mar 2007 (Forum)
A friend has an ancient but generally serviceable Kia Pride, the one that was originally badged as a Mazda 121. Its only apparent fault is that it makes a screeching sound when accelerating. However, it only does this when the lights are on. If, as he suspects, it's caused by a faulty fan belt, why would the screech not occur with the lights off?
  • Paintwork warranties 17 Jun 2006 (Forum)
I've just noticed rust bubbling up just inside the rear wheelarch of my 2002 Mazda 323. The handbook says: "You get a six or 12-year anti-perforation warranty, plus a three year unlimited mileage, paint and surface corrosion warranty". Am I right is assuming that the rust I've identified falls under the 3 year warranty unless see-through holes appear before April 2008?
  • Nissan Note 15 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I was looking at replacing my Peugeot 206 Sw 1.4 and have a budget of £11k and have been looking at Mazda 1.6, Focus, or Astra. I have uploaded a camera photo pic http://www.theairlineguide.co.uk/note.jpg Thanks in advance Baz
  • Radios in "Grey" imports 17 Aug 2005 (Forum)
The FM band only goes up to 90, there is no station identification/tracking (which means I have to retune every few miles along the road). The CD player is great with a 6 disc capacity built into the dashboard. Anyone who knows the Mazda range knows that the radio controls are part of the dashboard and the display is part of the heater display. So, anyone got any ideas about companies who could offer an upgrade? Please help a Radio 4 Addict.
  • car valuation differences - Why? 12 May 2005 (Forum)
Can anyone tell me why there seems to be such a disparity between the valuations of the same model car using Parker's, AA and What Car? e.g. Mazda 323 1.5GXi 5 door hatch 2000 Jan V reg 38k miles Parkers Franchised Dealer £3555 Independ dealer £3390 Private £3080 What Car Dealer £4726 Private £4245 AA £3,895 only one value given There seems to be a large discrepancy in these values.
  • Bye, bye ZT. Hello.......er what? 24 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Do dealers really think they can get away with such hard nosed business. My money is being taken elsewhere unless he knocks £500 off. Might consider a Mazda 6,, but then again.....what??
  • Are there any 'Quite Reliable' cars? 11 Jul 2004 (Forum)
I don't know if this is because cars are either very well or very badly built or because we tend to see things in very black or white terms. My Mazda 323 has had 3 faults in its 5 year life (ignition coil, clutch switch, broken bit of driver's door lock). It also has a couple of intermittent interior trim rattles. Does this make it very reliable, unreliable, or quite reliable (my view)?
  • Frugal MPV 20 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Well I knew the MPG figure for my Mazda MPV (2.0 litre turbodiesel) would be be far better than my old Volvo but didn't think it would ever be this good (despite the manufacturer's claims)! Having set the odometer to zero last time I filled up and brimmed the tank again this morning after 314 miles of mixed motoring I've just calculated a figure of 42 mpg !!!

  • Why no Mazda6 in Supermarkets ? 3 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Its been out over a year now and I have only ever seen 1 or 2 basic trim 1.8 cars in the supermarkets, (I want a 2.0auto) and then only once or twice. Does anyone know why the cars are not in the supermarkets yet... is Mazda deliberately restricting supply to keep the prices high ?? New avensis and accords I have seen at discount so why no 6 ? Contacted quite a few brokers and importers and they all said it was impossible to get hold of the car.
