  The missus is talking about buying a wee single axle caravan, it's around 700kg, which, I'm led to believe, is under the towing weight for our old 306 DT, I'm just not so sure, it's one thing towing something a couple of miles, but not up and down 200 miles of M6. Do you think we'd be better off getting something bigger? TIA!

  Hi,   We need to buy a car which will be able to tow our small cruiser 750kg plus outboard and luggage, (say 800 -850 kg) on a new aluminium trailer, with one axle.  Don't mind second hand or new but budget 14 - 15 K.  We haven't towed before and will need the car to be comfortable for some local and motorway driving .

  A while ago it was said that you should think twice about buying a car that had a towbar fitted as it possible it has more wear to the gearbox/suspension than a car that has not been used for towing. Is this in fact correct? Would a car have had to do frequent heavy towing to see any difference in reliability? The car I am looking at it a Y reg focus diesel with 90,000 miles on it.
