  • Best van for under £4000? 4 Mar 2015 (Forum)
I also want to keep most of my gear inside and still have room for prams etc. so my existing estate car is too small. (Citroen C5) I seem to be stuck between either a Ford Transit, around 2004/5 and a Renault Trafic, 2004/5. But keep reading equal news about the negatives on both, to the point now I've lost my mind!!!
  • Car sold....PCN appears.... 21 Oct 2014 (Forum)
Someone either bought his old car very quickly or one of the dealership staff used the car. Nobody would have nicked it as it's a 12 year old Citroen. The mind boggles as to why anyone would park at a supermarket for that long anyway. Suffice it to say, I don't believe he is liable under Popla but I would like to check this. I do understand that it depends on what the DVLA had as information when the parking company purchased the details, but they have processed this very rapidly and then waited nearly three weeks to send it.
  • Peugeot Partner Teepee - Advice on buying a small van/car second hand 11 Jun 2013 (Forum)
Looking for something like a Peugeot Partner Teepee  1.6 HDi 90 (as recommended by Honest John!) or a Citroen Bellingo, or a reliable car with a decent sized boot (maybe a skoda fabia?)  Budget is about £3000 - £4000  If we get it from a garage, what sort of warranty should we be looking for?
  • Skoda Octavia 1.6TDI - Why does HJ appear to have a knife in VW diesels 18 Dec 2012 (Forum)
Literally per my title. (i) I appreciate BMW make excellent diesels. (ii) I was pleased when Peugeot Citroen introduced the HDI engines. (iii) Fiat always made good diesels (iv) Neither Ford nor GM can make (or leastwise design) good diesels. (v) Any engine the Japanese make is generally well engineered.
  • Various - Automatic Transmissions 10 Apr 2012 (Forum)
Therefore I need to purchase a smallish car with automatic transmission, preferably a diesel engined one as economy is also a consideration. I hva looked at Opel/Vauxhall Corsa. Citroen C3. Toyota Yaris. Chevy  Aveo and similar cars. But looking on various forums it seems as though all references to smallcars with automatic transmissions seem extremely unreliable. Are they really that bad or is it just that only the faulty ones get mentioned, could there be thousands of happy car owners who have never had troubles with automatic, or semi automatic transmission units but just never put pen to paper, or fingers to keys. ??.
  • Cheap, smallish, reliable car recommendations 26 Sep 2011 (Forum)
There'd be a mix of town, country and motorway driving with the odd run of up to 150 miles but mostly 30 miles or so a day, 15k per annum I'd guess. Current shortlist includes Fiesta, Hyundai i20/i30, Seat Ibiza, Citroen C3 Pluriel (my partner wants one!) but there's a lot of choice out there so I'd like some recommendations. Thanks!
  • Diesel Family car - cheap tax 19 Sep 2011 (Forum)
I currently own a 2004 Renault Scenic 1.6 (petrol) which drinks far too much petrol and costs £215 to tax annually - I think this is far too much (not to mention that it has been nothing but costly trouble). I have a friend who owns a 2003 Citroen Xsara Picasso diesel and pays £120 annual tax.  Which is pretty good (although I know there are cheaper). Anyhow, my hubby needs some persuasion on exchanging (his 2 litre Ford Focus costs even more than mine!)
  • New/Nearly New 7 Seaters - 16-22k 30 Oct 2010 (Forum)
I have concerns on the Citreon/Peugeot etc reliability but again these actually dont look as bad as first impressions.  Can anyone recomend more options / thoughts on the Zafira / Citroens etc ? This forum seems like the place to ask :) Cheers Chris
  • Alicante Classic Car and Bike show 2010 11 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Mercedes of all eras seemed to dominate the show - whether that's an indicator of longevity or simply aspiration I don't know.  I don't think Janis Joplin ever dreamt of being bought a Citroen. Myself, I have to admit to being very tempted by a four door SEAT 127 - one of the last series 1s from 1977.  It was in mint condition and at a bargain 1900 euros.  Sadly, an expired technical test meant it would have needed to go home on the back of a trailer.

  • Vauxhall Insignia (2008 - ) - A feature too far? 3 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Personally, I think a threshold has been crossed. Whereas Merc with their night vision technology and Citroen/Honda and their lane-drift warning systems, have developed systems which improve safety and awareness, this Vauxhall system is supplementing basic road knowledge and the sort of abilities one has to demonstrate when they take a driving test.
  • FIAT Cinquecento (1993 - 1998) - Oil leak - serious?? 13 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I have known about the oil leak for ages (little patches on the drive) but to be honest its never caused any problems for the car... i regularly check the oil and it never needs topping up that often, no more than my Citroen without an oil leak. I'm wondering it if is likely to be anything serious? I think it is coming from the sump seal as there is oil residue on there.... would it be easy and cheap to get fixed. I'm thinking i'll just stick it on ebay and mention the leak and see what she goes for.... but wondering if i'll end up letting her go for £50 if I do that....
  • Buying a C3 Pluriel 17 Jun 2007 (Forum)
(Morpheus original headling 'Parkers price guides' didn't really sum up the essence of his post, which is why it has been changed. HJ) Right guys and girls... Girlfriend has decided she really wants a Citroen C3 Pluriel... i'm not too sure as I have heard the stories about leaking roofs.... Car is on Autotrader @ £6200 but in the pics you can see a sign for £6500..... Just checked parkers and it gives a price for that age car of £5320 based on 20,000 for a 2004 (53) car.
  • Women's intuition - completely absent 21 May 2007 (Forum)
If portrayal of female stereotypes annoys you, you might want to click on by ... One of my gardening customers has had a Citroen C2 for a week. Today she complained to me that a) I hadn't painted or repaired her fence yet, and b) she couldn't open the hatch of her car. While trying to "accidentally" step on one of her three bouncing, yapping, snapping Yorkshire Terriers I asked for the key fob, pressed the unlock button, reached under the lip of the tailgate and pressed the rubbery pad.
  • Wanted - Diesel Vehicle For Commute 9 Jan 2007 (Forum)
    Located in Andover, Hampshire so something in the locale would be ideal although willing to travel reasonable distance for the right motor. Many thanks Pity the N Plate Citroen Xantia for sale on these boards is not a diesel really. {Moved from the classifieds forum - DD}

  • ICE upgrade 2 Aug 2006 (Forum)
I think C5s have got multiplex wiring or something like that, I was wondering if that would make any kind of upgrade a no-no. The alternative that crossed my mind was whether, if I were to find a C5 in the Citroen dealer network, the dealer would be able to fit the "premium" head unit for a price.
  • 06 Picasso, software issue or feature? 3 Jul 2006 (Forum)
It is a useful feature if the time delay is probably about 3 secs, particularly for the electric windows! I can find no reference in the handbook. Probably the same feature exists on other Citroens. (I have posted this on http://www.citroenpicasso.org.uk/picasso/index.php?showtopic=10557 , but no useful comments to date!) -- pmh (was peter)
  • Motorcycle air filter 1 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I'm looking for one of those motorcycle air filters, that are about 15"-18" long,by about 8" wide, and are made of sponge. They have a base, that you cut the holes yourself, depending on the type of carburettor, they're going on. The reason I'm looking for one? I have a pair of DCNF carbs on my Citroen AX Autograss car,and because I'm limited for space under the bonnet,I think one of these air filters will fit, without the need for bulkhead modifications. I currently have a brand new pair of K&N lookalikes, but as they are for a VW Beetle, they're just a little too thin, and may restrict the air flow.
  • £8k to spend. What to buy? 28 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Having trawled through Autotrader and HJ's CBCD I've come up with a short list and would appreciate your feedback: Citroen C5 Estate 2.0i/2.2 HDi Ford Mondeo 2.0i/2.0 TDCi Zetec-S/Ghia X Honda Accord 2.0i SE Exec (old shape) MG ZT+ 1.8t 160 Saab 9-5 2.0t Vauxhall Omega 2.2i CD I've briefly run the Mondeo and Rover 75 in the past and liked them.
