Hi there to all;
i am totally new to this forum, but sure i am to become a regular visitor now that i have foolishly bought a 307 for the wife ! I formerly worked for peugeot/citroen up until 8 yrs ago so have quite good knowledge of French unreliable electronic systems, anyway, back to the 307...Two days after private purchace, air bag light on/posessed indicators--easy fix-comm2000 unit-£140 GSF ltd/Sheffield.now had car 3mnts,wife came up drive today switched off & removed key, mutch to her suprise engine wouldnt stop/suspect this to be fuel rail pressure sensor, will purchase new one & fit on saturday!if it could be anything else could anyone shed any more light please?thanks to all (fast300zx)I havent got a peugeot !!!

i dont think the fuel rail pressure sensor makes the difference to this.
i think its the bsi at fault,im sure i remember this happening on a picasso before.
ill find out a bit more tommorow and post results.

Hi there & thanks for your reply noddy9,
Think you could be on the right track cos i borrowed fuel rail pressure sensor from friends 406 hdi 2.0 90bhp,his car runs & turns off fine.his car has same siemens system/sensors same numbers exactly!fitted to 307 wont switch engine off !!!start up though-put foot on brake pedal & engine stops immediately that you switch ignition off ?????quite puzzling eh?

Long shot, the tandem pump in leaking fuel into the vacuum side and falsely fueling the car by venting it into the air intake. Using the vacuum with the braked backs the fuel off and she stops. Regards Peter

Hi Peter,
Can you explain this in a little more detail. I can't see how fuel can get into the vacuum system.
|
Does you system have a stop solenoid and is it functioning. The tandem pump provides fuel and the vacuum for varies vales and the brake servo, a failure in the pump can cause diesel mist to enger the engine via the vacuum side of the pump this mist enters the inlet manifold via the breather system and fuels the engine, however the engine tends to be a bit rough as the mixture is not controlled. Are you sure it is not the stop solenoid. Most common. Regards Peter
|
It won't be the stop solenoid Peter... HDi's are a (fair!) bit more complicated than the old XUD and don't have such a thing. IIRC eengine is stopped by the ECU cutting power to the injectors. However, it won't do this unless the rail pressure has dropped below a certain value (120 bar?) - I can't remember how it drops the rail pressure though (cuts the LP pump maybe?). Really needs to go on a good scanner so that the live data can be read to see what's happening.
If the engine is stalled, are the dash lights still on - ie could it be a ingition switch problem?

fast300zx,
Just a thought, but is the car using/burning a lot of engine oil? If it is, it could be "dieselling" on it's engine oil.
This article everything2.com/title/dieselling is written with petrol cars in mind but I've no doubt a similar thing can occur with diesels. Diesels are halfway there merely by having a high compression ratio.
If I'm talking through my hat, then be gentle with me!

Hi to all who tried to help with the running-on problem & many thanks to you who actually understand the comlexity of the hdi systems, fault was cured after a recall by peugeot to re-seal abs unit. They UN-believably did a full systems factory re-programe of the vehicles opperating systems!!!!! problems cured!!!WOW !
NEW PROBLEM NOW OCCURED!!!!

Hello to all & here we go again!
Siemens fuel system so no pump in tank, starts ok but runs slight missfire,no smoke but whilst running can hear a slight popping kind of noise ?revs up ok but when driven feels sluggish-no smoke but diesel knock sound produced?if maf is unplugged while running can hear solenoid valve at g/box disengage ,popping noise dissapears & engine smoothes out & no diesel knock whilst being driven, more response of power too,no lights on dash is maf u/s or could it be solenoid valve??? no codes after launch diagnosis??HELP!!!!!!!!!!
