VW Golf Estate TDi 2007 - Please help me find the correct suspension parts 26 Nov 2024 (Forum)
Hi all, my car is a VW Golf Estate TDi 2007 - Reg CX57 XRL. Can you help me find out which suspension parts I need to buy to amend the advisories? I've got someone coming to fit them when I have them. -
Renault Laguna - Renault Laguna 1.9 dci starting issues. 15 May 2023 (Forum)
When the start button is pressed, all you hear is a click. No cranking. I have had a fiddle with the relays in the car ( what a pig to get to ) and the relays under the bonnet. I added another battery to it with jump leads and it started a couple of times. I have now put all the covers back and the relays back hoping it was just a loose connection etc, but now it refuses to start etc. -
Audi A4 Avant - Washer fluid 11 Mar 2021 (Forum)
My rear washer stopped squirting a week or so ago. I tried probing the nozzles (there are two) with a needle but to no avail so I booked the car into my Audi dealer. I have an extended warranty, so before you all experience a sharp intake of breath, in theory my costs would be limited to the excess. This morning I have been informed that the issue is more than blocked nozzles. -
Skoda and Hyundai - Millers petrol additive. 17 Dec 2019 (Forum)
Obviously additives are regularly spoken of and each will have their own experience or opinion and it will have been covered before, although I searched and didn't see reference to this particular product. HJ did speak of it but I can't see where as we speak ... maybe it was an advert of some sort? Had I not seen it mentioned I wouldn't have gone looking for it - but both my cars return quite poor mpg figures and so after seven or eight years of ownership I thought I'd try it (admittedly a bit late in the day). -
Honda Civic - Honda service, how to annoy a customer 16 Apr 2017 (Forum)
Then when I took it in, the service manager himself booked me in. He said that the MoT would "only" be £35. I had to point out that, having bought it from them, my car gets free MoTs, as long as they service it. This is in writing as part of tbe sales documentation. On collection the receptionist went through all the paperwork. No free breakdown and recovery cover had been provided even though its part of Honda's long-running service offer. -
Insurance claim from abroad 1 Oct 2015 (Forum)
The complication is that this happened a couple of days into an extensive overseas trip (several months - which I am fully comp covered for) and I was getting very ambivalent signals from the person I spoke to on the claims line about when and where I should get it repaired, he suggested at one point I might consider waiting until I returned back home. -
Ford Focus 1.6 tdi 2005 (65k) - turbo problems 5 Jul 2015 (Forum)
About 2 wweks ago I noticed I'd little or now power especially when tryng to accelarate. I bought the car last July for 6k from a local garage and traded in a petrol 1.8 1999 which was beginning to cause expenive problems, and hoped I wouldn't have to invest quite as much cash in repairs with a newer model. So took thecar into them and was quoted about £700 to replace the turbo (incl vat and labour) wasn't too happy about that but what could I do. -
Vauxhall Astra H 1.7CDTI - Mystery diesel leak. 23 Oct 2013 (Forum)
The pump itself is dry on the outside, all around the injectors, glow plugs, the high-pressure pipes are all clean and dry; but underneath and behind that there is evidence of a diesel leak. The back of the car also gets covered in diesel when it is leaking, including the rear window, which is how I know when it's happening. It only leaks on warm days when I am driving at about 60 - 70 mph, or if I am accelerating hard up a hill. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1997 1.4 Auxilary drive belt configuration 31 May 2013 (Forum)
Now for the problem! The car only has power steering and no Air con. The power steering pump is located towards the front of the engine and the pulley on the pump has a tensioner type bearing located below. The problem is that these two pulleys are on a completely different centreline to any of the other pulleys and I can't remember where the drive pulley was or is located? -
VW Golf TDi SE PD 110 - Cold start misfire? 4 Nov 2012 (Forum)
After engine is warmed up (5 miles approx) the light will go out and engine will run fine if the car is turned off and then on again . It clears and pulls strongly from there on. I have had it put on a 'snap-on' diagnostic machine and it threw up a 'cylinder 1 injector fault'. (VW code 18074, genereic code P1666). -

Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi 115bhp-Limp Mode 26 Sep 2010 (Forum)
Stopping the car switching off the engine & restarting will correct the problem. Much more infrequently, the engine has been found to be in limp mode straight from start up where the engine has not reved hard however, again the process of turning the ignition off & restarting resets & the turbo is normal. -
Land Rover Freelander 2 (2006 - ) - Cold starting - serious misfire & blue smoke 27 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Our Land Rover Freelander 2 GS Td4-e, registered November 2009 has covered less than 2000 miles and has suffered cold start problems since new. This comprises a serious misfire on 1 or more cylinders, followed by clouds of blue smoke and continuing misfire for up to 10 minutes. -
Volkswagen Passat (2001 - 2005) - 04 1.9 Aux drive belt idler pulley or viscous fan 27 Jan 2010 (Forum)
So, what experience does anyone have with either of these items? Obviously replacement is expensive as the front has to come off the car (again!!). Unless I can clearly identify which is failing, my inclination is to replace both whilst the front is off. Any comments? (I can no longer do jobs like this myself due to arthritis). Thanks in advance for any help. -
What is it with Insurance companies 13 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Maybe this bozo has a habit of hitting other people and got me mixed up with someone else. 1. Why didnt the insurance company pick up on the fact that he has shown the wrong side of my car being hit by his van? 2. Why do they insist it will go down as a 50/50. 3. Wont the court take into account the fact that this bozo has already lied to try and cover his back and will therefore lie again? -
Skoda Octavia II (2004 - ) - Tyre suggestion - Octavia II Ambiente TSi 2 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Ive had my Octavia now for a few months and the only negative (apart from poor MW/LW reception) has been a lack of grip from the front tyres. I can spin the front tyres and set the ASR "banging away" without really trying. The car is an 08 plate 1.8 TSi Ambiente (160 BHP) and has covered 9K miles. The tyres currently fitted are Dunlop SP Sport 01 (205/60/15 91V) and are evenly worn with >5 mm tread remaining. My last 2 Octavia's (Mk1 vRS's) had Continental sportcontact 2's fitted (205/50/17) and seemed much grippier than these Dunlops. -
In the light of Green Tax proposals... 31 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I make no claims as to the veracity of the calculator, but for me, for example, it looks like £35 a year for my car and £90 for the house. I for one am prepared to pay that sort of money annually (perhaps more, in fact, because I really like trees) to pay for enough trees to offset my co2 use. I would hope the figures include the co2 produced in actually getting the darned things planted too. -
Basic maintenance knowledge 15 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Who knows what possessed her to give it a go yesterday, but it made me think about the very basic things one should know about a car before getting a license. I know there has been some plan to add a basic maintenance component to the driving test and I seem to recall some discusison about it on this forum. Let me propose something. -
mondeo TDCi Vibration under load 18 Aug 2004 (Forum)
This got worse over our 3000 mile trip, and makes using the low down torque very uncomfortable. One last question for Mondeo TDCi owners....... Do you find the car a pig to drive around town when the air con is on?? Mine stalls easily, and generally feels heavy to drive in terms of accelerating. Worst Van on E bay!! 25 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Well scruffy - well beaten - dirty uncomfy tatty horrible skip on wheels. But it does start - it does drive and it actually goes quite well! Has covered 103K has had 1 careful owner and several others that didn\'t give a toss about it! It has fallen into my hands - I bought it to nick the wheels and tyres then on the same day some nice bloke smashed my car up - hence they are now surplus to requirement.
