What To Chose? Opinions Sought 11 Mar 2007 (Forum)
the bmw again i do love and it is definately the practical option but at the same time is slightly bland but other than that is a great car just not got quite the same fun factor as the mgf but again could happily live with it. option c is ive always liked the mid nineties shaped celica, they have a good spec and are relatively quick, hopefully get a gt4 funds allowing and again im sure id be equally at home in one. -
Octavia or 159? 30 Jul 2006 (Forum)
The Audi and BMW are both significantly more expensive. So, we now have a head vs heart decision, the Alfa or the Skoda? We've looked at both, but test driven neither yet. Both of us love the styling of the Alfa, and as this is a fully maintained/insured lease deal, the reliability concerns are less. -
Tell me about... the BMW 3 Series 31 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Hey guys.. As most of you know, I've decided to buy a 5 Series as my next car. Well, almost. I keep thinking that a 3 Series would be almost as good... -
Why do people do that II ? 6 Apr 2003 (Forum)
"Does he think he's cool or something ?" she asked. Also, last week in right hand lane of Dartford tunnel I saw a guy in a BMW compact screaming towards me in the inside lane. He quickly caught me up, undertook, veered sharply across in front of me (despite the no changing lanes rule) and then proceeded to sit on the tail pipe of the vehicle in front of me which I had remained a reasonable distance from. -
Suzuki Swift 318i Touring 26 Aug 2002 (Forum)
Spotted a 'right one'- sometimes you get an intuitive feeeling about a car- and went to see it today. It was a BMW 318iSE Touring, 1998 S reg, metallic dark green, full BMW history, 134,000 miles, lovely condition, loads of extras (inc. sports suspension and leather sports steering wheel, passenger airbag), full MOT. -
Decisions, decisions .......... 16 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Has anyone experienced the BMW 540 (E34 model, 1993-1996) with the 4.0ltr V8 and 6 spd manual gearbox ? The engine is said to be superb (as long as you don?t have bore wear problems) and prices are well below 10K now for fBMWsh, but long legged examples. -
Surprise, surprise! 15 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Isn't it difficult to predict how much spares are going to cost? I had little choice but to go to my BMW dealership for four items in the two years that I have owned my 1992 BMW 525 estate and the cost of every one of these items has been a surprise. (The following costs each include VAT.) # The four brake bleed nipples which I bought simply as an insurance for when I changed the system fluid cost £13 the set (I expected to pay a fiver). # The rear screenwasher bottle lid cost 52 pence (I thought I might have to buy the whole bottle). # Two new gas struts for the opening glass panel in the tailgate cost just over £17 each (I was expecting nearer £45 each). # A new speedometer head cost £115. -
Tyre noise 20 Oct 2023 (Forum)
I know I’m going to get a ‘What did you expect’ for this but here goes! Just bought a 3mth old BMW 128ti on 19 inch wheels. Tyre noise and ride is terrible. Had a M135i previously with the same wheels and had no issues. Currently on Bridgestone Potenzas and I’m thinking of swapping out to Honest Johns favourite Michelin Cross Climates. -

Is an Hpi check sufficient? 2 Sep 2019 (Forum)
I am going to look at an '04 BMW for sale privately circa £10k. For 30+ years I have always bought my cars privately, normally from friends/colleagues/BR etc and have never had a problem or done an Hpi check. However, I have never spent this much money without knowing the person! -

Skoda Superb - Paging Skidpan (and any other new Superb owners) 6 Feb 2017 (Forum)
Especially interested in views about the 1.4TSI petrol as a possible company car choice, they seem to be pretty good on benefit-in-kind tax, and are less likely to be punitively taxed in the future compared to diesels. I'm currently favouring a BMW 2-series plug-in hybrid for my next car, but might have to have a nosey around the Superb as they do look good and seem to tick all the boxes: roomy, comfy etc. -
Hyundai - Hyundai i30 Estate 5 Feb 2017 (Forum)

Here in Colchester - Blondie Drink Driver 29 Dec 2015 (Forum)
I note that some of the papers are reporting a young lady who had too much to drink in the officers mess and proceeded to crash her bmw, hitting other cars . Licence gone. Good! Hefty fine GOOD! Nobody hurt, but the painful bit is that she is facing a £16000 loss on her car and undoubtedly future insurance premium rises, and also disciplinary proceedings. -
Toyota Yaris Hybrid 1.5 CVT 100 PS - Leeway on exceeding service intervals 8 Sep 2015 (Forum)
My Yaris Hybrid is 6 months old with 9600 miles on it. It's almost due its first service (I require 2 services per year due to covering 20000 annually.)... -
Any - Cambelt Vs Cam Chain 6 May 2013 (Forum)
The reason I ask is I've had issues with the chain on my Golf TSi 122, its on its 2nd chain in 50k, and I note that the BMW N47 has a habit of chain failure, amongst other cars too. Plus chain replacement appears to be vehemently expensive? Now this is the first car I've had thats had a chain, and will be my last. -

How Reliable Is Your Car? 14 Sep 2011 (Forum)
What is surprising is that Citroen, Fiat and Peugeot, not firms renowned for reliability all ranked above BMW, VW, Volvo and Audi with Mercedes Benz languishing in 27th place. Thoughts?
