• Vauxhall Corsa B (1993 - 2000) - 1997 1.2l Fuel Filter Changing 31 May 2009 (Forum)
  Haynes says to depressurise the fuel system by dismantling the front parcel shelf , removing door seals etc etc. before removing a relay. Is this absolutely necessary and would not the relay be powered down by disconnecting the battery? All comments welcome.

  My father in law has an intermittent problem with his Omega failing to fire. It usually starts OK but sometimes will just turn over and over without firing. The battery has been discharge tested and appeared fine. The car has been looked at by the competant local independent, who couldn't find anything wrong. There could obviously be numerous causes. Does anyone with experience of this problem on this model have any suggestions for things to check first?

  My Peugeot Diesel 1769 non Turbo doesn't really want to start in cold weather, in warm weather it's fine. Injectors replaced in December, Glow Plugs & Battery fine. I've had a look at the valve clearances and all 4 inlets have no gap, the exhausts are correct, how is this so? I can understand a wider gap through wear but no gap, well. Would this cause my problem?

  I am now driving C5 2.0 HDI the annoying feature is that after 20 minutes of listening to the radio without the engine running it shuts down to "economy mode".The only way to get the radio or accesories to power up again is to start the engine,then you get 10 minutes of radio.This feature is so that you do not flatten the battery, fair enough but it is silly that you have to start the car each time to turn the radio back on.Does anny one know of a way around this feature as its driving me nuts. -- rustbucket (the original)

  The control panel in the above car does not seem to be working for the blower, ie. it is not getting a live feed. Why? The blower is working as I have taken it out and tried it across the battery. The resistor pack seems to be O.K. as well as I have tested it. Can anybody please tell me where to look and for what. The fuses and relays also appear to be working, so what is the problem? I appreciate your help on this.

  So the question is, do you know which is the charging light wire coming from the alternator, to which to conect the wire to the split charging relay for the battery/fridge in the caravan? I have had a look at the wires coming from the alternator and besides the thick red one, there are two wires, blue/yellow, blue/red (from memory) any ideas?

  hya could any one help me with a ECU problem i had a diagnostic test done on it and there no power and got told it was the ecu so i got one from the scrapper and it wont work does any1 have any advice on how i can make it work it worked one day but didnt on that night so i moved the wires on the battery and it started the next day it was back to norm!! it will wind on but wont kick in please help thanks Moved from Discussion - text type talk removed - Model/Year ?

  Hi- 93 ford fiesta starter motor suddenly stopped working and only now get the clunk of the solenoid but no engagement to turn the engine over - checked for tight wiring connections and a good charged battery but still happening so suspect the starter motor - but might be something else. Have not taken it out yet but wanted to know if there were any servicable parts or is it best to replace rather than try and repair.

  Maybe the car thinks the ignition is off, therefore needs to turn the screen in to energy saving mode? Or is the battery on it's way out? There are no other probs with the car except the parking sensors which do not work. Any suggestions? cheers Tris

  Morning all just bought an 1.6 (Carb) scirocco been standing in a field for 4 years i was going to use it for parts but on closer inspection its overall quite sound. Engine turns over fine on battery but no spark from coil any quick pointers? Arnt the ignition switches of this VW period known to give probs (how do i check?) as i said engine turns over fine when key is turned Thanks MM

  Hi all, I have a 1996 5dr 306 Meridian and was told when I bought it that the central locking plip controller had stopped working after the battery had been renewed. I have looked online and found instructions on how to do it. Or so I thought. I have followed these instructions, but to no avail. (Turn ignition key to certain pos and then press both buttons on the inside of the key itself together).

  I have looked through the manual to try and work out where it goes and what it was attached to but cannot find anything. The battery is now flat and i cannot open the bonnet. Anyone let me know what it was attached to, maybe i can pull a wire which it was attached to and open the bonnet. Anyone know another way to open without the lever?

  One of my key fobs has stopped working - changed the battery but still no change. The spare fob works ok, but I wanted to keep two available. Any ideas what I can try next? or any other checks? Could it be the electronics in the key fob or the electronics in the car itself?

  My daughters just bought a 98 1.9 diesel turbo 306 (3 door model) and having put fresh batteries in the remotes used the deadlock feature last night having serviced it. The deadlock on the drivers side appears on the face of it this morning to be seized. There are also peculiarities in the lock unloc/bouncing locks.

  Have just bought a 1.0 elation that has stood for about 10 months in a garage. I have just put a new battery on her and she starts first time but only runs for about 10 seconds then cuts out even when reved she dosnt misfire and there is no sign of smoke i put a fresh jerry can of petrol n her as well am interested to hear if any one has any ideas as to what the problem could be or where to start looking

  I have removed the seats and checked all the wiring underneath for loose connections , removed the steering column shroud and checked the wiring there also (with battery disconnected!) I can't get the car to a Peugeot garage as the car isn't currently taxed or insured . I can get the airbag control module checked for £60 but i can't find it - any suggestions would be appreciated.

  The electrics have been temperamental as well i.e back windscreen wiper, sun roof, central locking despite the fuses being fine. Do I just need a new battery or could it be something else? Any views are greatly received. Thanks.

  The car still runs on its original pair of keys (nearly seven years old now). Would the age of the key battery (both OE) potentially cause immobiliser failure to engage. The keys are designed to re-charge as the car is driven. The car has been used the last few days with the "spare" key without the problem cropping up at all.

  Hi, My mk. 2 Clio cassette/radio has lost it's code after I disconnected the battery for a while-got no log book when I bought it. I see recoding companies advertising in the 'Useful Website' section of Honest John. Are these the best thing to do? What about replacing it with a Renault cd player off e-bay - has the radio to be fit/ compatible with my '97 model?

  I have a 1981 Porsche 924 off road at present with a Toad immobiliser fitted. One key fob pendant stopped working some time ago. Having done some work on it with the battery off I couldn't start it, no fuel pump running. Having checked fuses and connections around the relays fuel pump kicked in, engine fired up. On trying to restart red l.e.d. on toad keeps flashing, no fuel pump and no cranking.
